  1.   Yup, and that's the really stupid part. The "Tea Party" part can't swing a national election (okay debatable, but they can't swing the nomination, let's put it that way), but instead of letting the Dem machine simply hang itself with the continued terrible economy and the almost certain bummer that ObamaCare will prove to be in short order before '16, they are actually finding ways to be more obnoxious, rather than just sit on the sidelines saying "I told you so, nyah nyah".   Of course, Hildebeest will likely convince more than enough that she'll foster a "New" Democrat nirvana -- it might take both dissing and distancing BHO to do it, but unless things change from the slow slide into degraded Soviet Gray to rapid Argentina-esque Red, I think she can do it.   - OS
  2.   Oughtta be just as good, looks like they might just be rebranded and actually same thing!   - OS
  3. Stick a damn carbine tube on it and quit futzing around. :)   - OS
  4. Herter's, Monarch, Wolf, Brown/Silver Bear ammo might all be same load from the same Russian ammo factory, depending on current contract. Like that.   - OS
  5. Winchester 555 count .22, in both red and white boxes, are about the worst I've ever shot, even worse than the previous iteration of Rem Golden Bullets.   I even got what was apparently bad run of the M22, which most folks swear by.   - OS
  6. Oh, I dunno. Lots of encounters are "deescalated" daily when someone pulls a gun and perp runs off. Certainly simplifies your life legally and over all hassle wise, not to mention avoiding the cleanup, :)   Seriously though, even if perp gets away, drawing down without actually popping the cap ain't necessary a wrong thing, depending of course on exact situation. I see enough wiggle room in the statutes to where you could still be in reasonable fear of death or serious bodily injury without having to actually fell the perp to prove it, so it won't get you in any hot water that actually firing it wouldn't have either.   But, and a big BUT, of course you have to be capable and willing to complete the drill, or I agree with the contention that there's a 50/50 chance you've just taken your own life by only having the will to show it but not use it.   - OS
  7.   Complete pistol upper, much quicker. Oh Shoot's Traveling Instant Pistol Maker Legal Service, complete with signed witnessed photo.  :)   - OS
  8.   Yup. First political outcome in my whole adult life I'll likely be willing to bet the farm on.   - OS
  9.   Then that's what you should have said. :)   - OS
  10.   Neither was John McCain. Being born here is not necessarily a requirement.   Neither was Ted Cruz, but I'll bet he'll be "cleared"  to run if he wants to.   - OS
  11.   Yeah, in my youth, I thought no prez could be more evil than Tricky Dick. How uber naive.   Now seems only question is whether BHO will retain the title after Hillary.   - OS
  12.   A common lament among numerous fixed blade makers.   - OS
  13.   Seems most custom makers of any note have longer turn around time than that, Erik.   Maybe just get him a nice production model you think he'd like and have it engraved? Some of the online knife vendors offer engraving, or could always have it done by local jeweler or trophy place or something?   - OS
  14.   If a 5.56 rifle config is gassed correctly and extractor/ejector is in spec, kicks 'em out at 3:00-4:30, so integral shell deflector should never get a mark on it. (Other calibers the same?)   Would seem to me to be fairly disconcerting lefty shooting an AR pistol if using the buffer against the cheek as third point of contact, as there ain't much distance between face and 4:00-4:30 angle. I know Mike.357 doesn't like shooting mine that way.   - OS
  15.   Yeah, unless it comes with it's own plate without it.   - OS
  16.   Yeah, really, tell us. I consider them aces ... well,  except for sometimes horrible communication and turn around times. :)   - OS
  17.   Yeah, carbine, which is technically 7.25" I believe.   A2 (rifle) buffer tubes don't use castle nut either.   - OS
  18.   That thing full carbine length? (if you shoot pistol with tube alongside cheek as I do, you'll want the length -- lots of folks use rifle tube to get that little bit extra even).   - OS
  19. Lots of "pistol" tubes don't use castle nut, nobody seems to complain they loosen up.   Which is why I think staking castle nut is completely optional myself.   - OS
  20. San Antone has also been quite draconian in regard to knives, too.   - OS
  21.   You know better than to quote me before I've edited 2 or 3 times, man. :)   - OS
  22.   Felony or misdemeanor domestic violence conviction prohibits all firearm ownership as per federal law.   TN law admittedly does give an out for long guns if the felony was not "involving the use or attempted use of force, violence, or a deadly weapon", but don't see how that much matters. And TN law still prohibits all firearm possession for the domestic violence conviction.   - OS
  23.   There is no federal or TN law prohibiting selling or gifting a firearm to a same state resident who is not legally prohibited from owning firearms by federal or state law. As long as the lower has not been first made into a rifle, the new owner may make it into a pistol.   You are still legit in checking yes on question 11a on 4473 (are you the actual transferee/buyer of the firearm?) but technically only as long as you used your own money to buy it, and wasn't given the money beforehand by the other person.   (Yes, I know that's a fine distinction, but that is the explanation given on 4473 directions for 11a).   - OS
  24.   Suit yourself, but as per your statement, I can assure you that 39-17-1313 does not protect you from being expelled per se, so it doesn't matter whether you believe it protects you from prosecution or not.   - OS
  25.   R. Heinlein is rolling over in his grave.   - OS
