Got a free Cobra Derringer - Firing pins seem to be hitting the rim.
Oh Shoot replied to TnShooter83's topic in Handguns
Unless firing pin channels are worn out, I'd wager those marks are simply from dry firing with no shell in chamber. I doubt there are precise firing pin stops in them, and the firing pin probably extends farther than the shell rim itself, and without a shell in there, the pins just go as far as they can (ie into chamber wall). That's the way my Cobra .38 pins work, but of course they simply go into chamber without touching edges since it's not a rimfire. My guess is if you don't dry fire it without a spent shell in chamber it'll work fine indefinitely with the replacement firing pins. - OS -
Mainly a bug report. Figgered it's likely not the only thread this way. - OS

Problem still ongoing. Here's longer thread that didn't get moved to here: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/general-off-topic/59122-posting-pictures-whats-changed.html - OS

Walgreens Manager tackles and holds down thief.
Oh Shoot replied to Chucktshoes's topic in General Chat
Yeah, pharmacist in MI. Used a gun, though, which was the biggest Walgreens no no. Thread here on TGO about it somewhere. » Hero Gets Fired for Using a Gun to Stop Robbery - Big Government - OS -
Everything you posted is correct. However, good luck getting UPS or FedEx to actually ship the gun to a non-license holder, even though their own TOS allows it. Btw, the BATF FAQ is wrong about notification. Only sending to non-license holder requires notification. Which in your instance it does. - OS

http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handguns/58657-oxymoron-best-looking-hipoint-planet-earth.html I know there are at least two responses on 2nd page, as I posted one and it shows Lester Weevils as last poster, but no click will get me to the second page. I'm set on this box for 30 per page. Is it just me somehow? - OS

Yeah, manual even suggests only breaking it down every 1500 rounds or so for cleaning. And you likely never need to do it all, but as you say it's not that big a deal to do it. Pin doesn't really need to be "driven" out, just "pushed" out. - OS

Oops, double tap, somehow. - OS

Fortunately, you hardly ever have to do that. Just spray it with brake cleaner once in a while and clean bore. If you want to baby it, you can give it a more thorough cleaning by soaking it in kerosene. - OS

Gunny's is a gun store/range in Maryville. The DMV where you apply for permit will supply you with a list of places for the electronic prints. Most in Knoxville seem to wind up at the UPS store in Halls. (north Knoxville past Fountain City on Broadway/Maynardville Pike.) - OS

Self Defense via Vehicle Break In?
Oh Shoot replied to cyh1830's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Car break-in while you are in it affords the same fear for life presumption as home break-in. Vehicle is specifically mentioned in the deadly force statutes for this circumstance. However, you can't have loaded firearm in car without a permit. However however, if you must use weapon in justified shooting, you can't be charged with the firearm violation. - OS -
Btw, mods, this thread would be better moved into the TGO Support section, no? - OS

Yep, I just use my Comcast or domain webspaces for image storage, and only way I can post a pic is to put URL in main editing window and then manually add the [/img] tags. Dunno what the image button prob is, but it is a real drag that it doesn't work. Since it won't show the URL/tag it's trying to create, can't troubleshoot it as a user. - OS

It's just one that TGO David has recommended, keeps an informational link onsite in the Trading Post section: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/trading-post-notices-faqs/8-suggested-form-face-face-firearms-sale-transfer.html - OS

How close is your home to a nuclear power plant?
Oh Shoot replied to vontar's topic in Survival and Preparedness
It was only the floodwater that caused it. The quake, which was some 100 km away, and the ensuing tsunami wave caused no damage at all (except that it created the flood). The water inundation took out the internal power generation, which was the crux of the crisis. It seems likely that some or all of our US plants may have fared the same given no external power and similar inundation of the entire facility. - OS -
Only your comment is off topic in this off topic forum thread. Good job. - OS

Depends on the state. Not illegal to drink and carry in TN necessarily either, as long as you didn't do it in a commercial establishment open to the public. - OS

You "can" and I "have", but you shouldn't. .22lr/short case bulges. Can rupture. You could put yer eye out, kid. Revos that shoot both, like Ruger Single Six, Heritage, whatever, come with two cylinders. Actually, probability of harming gun is probably zero, and of hurting yourself is also very low, but .22lr and .22 mag are different sized cases and rims, ya know. Speed and accuracy will vary all over the place. - OS

Jeez...last time I was down in 'Nooga, lost power here for over a week due to tornados. Now, back here again, and just lost the juice due to big thunderstorm. Maybe Hamilton County will pay me a stipend to stay the hell away from here. - OS

Yeah, wish I had thrown big bucks into their stock back during the "no honest man needs more than 10 rounds" days. - OS

I've had to quit opening their specials emails, can't afford the continual risk to insolvency. - OS

Well, you can always buy those other cheaper .357 bolt guns and .308 scout rifles, you know, those made by ummm, who? - OS
-
Agree, I dunno how the chamber could be a no go for .38, safety-wise anyway. But I can see how .38 wouldn't work with the rotary mag. After all, .22 short won't work with the 10/22LR rotary mag. - OS

I don't want any of them to think it is not the favorite. Even the Hi-Point! - OS

I like the RAT much better. Many people, maybe most, who get a serrated small blade later wish they hadn't. Since US made doesn't figure into your decision, but finances do, here's one I mentioned in previous post. Excellent knife, not just for the money, but period. 3.5" blade, locks up nicely, very sharp (and easy to sharpen), good point for umm, social contact, great grip even if umm, slick, deploys in a nano second. Has no pocket clip, which is a plus for me, as I just snuggle big folders in next to wallet, point up; nobody sees them either. And less than $20 You might find it at Wally's or Academy or Dicks or Gander Mt or...Amazon: Amazon.com: Gerber 22-41297 Profile Folding DP Knife: Home Improvement - OS
