  1. Went to Sportsman warehouse on Sat to get some powder. No powder, place looked like a wasteland, but that is another story. Anyway we go over to one of the eateries next door. This is 1230ish in the afternoon, place is packed. As we are walking up a couple is looking at the broken window of their car. Someone had done a smash and grab just a few minutes before. The crooks around here are brazen to say the least. We went home. I am not going to go anywhere that I may have to leave my weapon in a car.

    rifle help

I have serveral Mausers and an Enfield. If I was just starting I would opt for the Mauser. They are accurate, and there is just a lot more to be done with one. The 8x57 is a excellent hunting cartridge.
  3. I didn't get laid off. But I transfered with my wife to Memphis. I have been here since August. I am in the telecomm field and job prospects a slim. I had a company that was going to hire me, but backed out due to the "economy". They said they might try again mid 09. Glad my wife has a good job or we would be up a real creek. I have friends in GA and SC who's companies are closing, as the man said, "it is gonna get worse before it gets better."
  4. My wife took the course last Sat. It was an all women class. One lady had never fired a handgun () they all passed.
  5. No lead in Glocks. Polygonal rifling + lead = bad.
  6. Saturday @ Range USA would be cool. My wife is taking the womens only HCP course from 11-2000.
  7. I started with a Rock Chucker Kit about 15 years ago. You can't break or were it out. You can load just about any caliber with it. I still load all my rifle rounds with the RC. The Surpreme kit looks like it will do it all. You may want to invest in a set of Lee shell holders. And you will need a case trimmer. And a decent micrometer. I would definetly recomment that you get a stout bench to mount your press to. Once purchased you will develop a strange need to pick up brass everywhere you shoot. I have just been sorting throught my latest scrounging. Oh you will also start to aquire all sorts of stuff to go along with it, Chronagraphs....
  8. With my Dillion 550 I can easily load 500 rounds/hr. This is after I have tumbled the brass. Dillion has presses set up for particular calibers which is nice if you just want to load a couple of pistol calibers. With a single stage it would be much slower but not difficult to do 1k in a couple of days. Size and de-prime, Sit in front of the tv with a hand primer and prime. Then sit down and throw charges and seat and crimp. If you don't cast your own bullets you can get lead bullets fairly cheap. I have shot thousands through my 45. But most of my 9mm is shot in my Glock so it gets jacketed. UPS should be bringing 500 Hornady 9mm XTP's to the door today. I have brass in the tumbler and just need to set the powder measure. The wife is taking her HCP class on Saturday and suddenly she feels the need to practice. Which gave me an excuse to work up a defense load. If you can find someone who reloads and have them give you a tour. It will help clear things up.
  9. If you are new to reloading then I would suggest a single stage press. As you become more proficient then you may want to move up to a progressive press. I loaded many many rounds on my RCBS Rock Chucker before I bought a Dillion 550. You can save money reloading but remember you are going to have an intial outlay of cash for the equipment. I have reloaded the same 9/45 brass so many times I have lost count. With the price of all gun stuff including reloading components going crazy due to the Obama effect, reloading may soon be the only way to shoot.

    GLOCK CLIP

I would have to say both.

    GLOCK CLIP

My wife love to watch life in the ER. The other night a gentleman was brought in who had accidentally discharged his 32 into his pecker. It entered the base of the shaft and exited the head. Dr said he was lucky it was a small caliber. I couldn't believe the moron would sign a release to show his face on tv.
  12. I have shot several deer with my AR. I used 60gr Partitions and 62gr Barnes TX. Worked well... but I did wait on a good shot.

    XD Owners!

I got to shoot a 45c yesterday. Man I like that pistol. I started lobbing Santa shortly after.
  14. I have only been to one gun show in TN. It was in Memphis and it was a big disappointment. I thought the shows in Charleston SC were poor but they looked wonderful compared to this one. I hope they aren't all this bad. Having said all this there were deals but you had to look carefully. And I always assume that once I find something I am interested in buying, then I start haggling.
  15. SC is one that you have to have permission from the owner.
  16. I don't know what TX law is but in SC it is a no no to carry in a residence where you do not have permission from the owner.

    .22 Suggestions

I have a MKII stainless and a P22 with both long and short barrel. I like both but for accuracy I would go with the Ruger. The P22 is a nice gun and I often carry it around my property.
  18. What he wants to do, and what he will be able to do are going to be radically different.
  19. One of these caught my eye today at a local shop. I picked it up (very bad idea) and it really felt good. Stainless with night sites. It is a great size for CC. Can you folks give me some feedback on shooting experiences. Good, bad... How is the recoil, accuracy? Thanks George
  20. Man I thought the gun shows in Charleston SC were bad. This weekends show in Memphis was just plain pitiful. Even my wife of is not a gun person commented on the lack of quality and quantity. How this is not the best we get here.
  21. I don't know how the Sprint coverage is in TN. In Charleston SC I has Sprint as a company phone. I always had my Verizon for when Sprint Crapped the bed, and it did often.
