  1. Perhaps, it was harsh. It was a baited question and I took the bait. But he asked.
  2. Please stay at home, on the computer and ask stupid questions. Every time I hear this question blood poors from my eyes, and I have to wrap my head in duct tape to keep it from exploding. There are STUPID questions. BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT, PRIVILEGE AND THE RESPONSIBILITY. THAT'S WHY.
  3. After watching the post race shows. It appears that the teams that blew tires were running higher than recommended tire pressures.
  4. + 1 for WST, for 9mm and 45 auto.
  5. They obviously don't have mortgages.
  6. Welcome to the world of reloaders. I started much like you. First thing I did was build a SOLID reloading bench. I am still settling into my new home and one of the first things I did was set up my reloading bench. It is amazing how much reloading gear one can acquire in 15 years. The movers hated me. I had them pack all my loose bullets and presses. Better them than me.
  7. I am new to the area. Does anyone here hunt the Shelby Forest. I could sure use some local advise on the what when where and how's. I don't live but a stones throw from it, but trying to make heads or tails of the Fish and Game manual is PITA.
  8. Marlin 45-70 Hornady 350fp's at 2000fps = really sore shoulder! But it knocks the snot out of deer and yotes.
  9. This worked well for me. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=161368&t=11082005
  10. Good lord, you do want to open up a hornets nest. I don't know if it is legal in TN, but I have take several deer with a AR. Used Nosler 60gr partitions and made damn sure of the shot, but it wouldn't be my go to gun.
  11. A buddy of mine bought the same rifle in stainless 45lc. It is a great rifle. EMF is just an importer the rifle is Brazilian made. They are not hard to "slick up." The EMF has better sights than the Puma's. Steve @ Stevesgunz will sell you one with all his action work at a reasonable price, he also recommends the EMF.
  12. I really like my 44. I can load it down to plinking loads all the way to detached retina. The mild loads with cast bullets are just a hoot. The 250 BTB's pushing 1800+ fps will rattle your teeth. Mine is a Rossi Puma with 16in barrel. Love the rifle. http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=109371759 Be warned Leveritus is very difficult to cure.
  13. I have a few levers. Two Marlin's a 45-70, 35 Rem. I also have a couple of 1892 clones one in 45lc and another in 44mag. The clones are nice for the price but I have had a problem with the 44 (overbore) and getting it repaired has been a pita. But that just seems to be a problem with a batch of 44's. I am looking for one in 357 also. Don't know if it will be Marlin or clone. http://www.leverguns.com/articles/Default.htm http://www.stevesgunz.com/ I like them all but the pistol calibers are a hoot. The 92 clones have a very strong action. Steve at http://www.stevesgunz.com/ is a really knowledgeable person and will give you all the info you can stand.
  14. That is just Navy doctrine. Some of the folks they issue weapons to do not get a great deal of training or range time. I spent 20 in the Coast Guard and we always carried with one in the chamber safety on. My wife is Navy Military Police and she says they carry with round in the chamber also.
  15. I the immortal words of Ron White, " You can't fix stupid."
  16. I got my TN DL today and applied for a "renewal HCP" they gave me a reciept and said it was good as a HCP until my new one arrives. So now I wait. Where can I find a good source for TN gun laws as it relates to concealed carry?
  17. You guys are really depressing me. I am moving to the Memphis area (Millington). And all I see is bad press. I hope that most of it is simply that people tend to complain more than praise. I know Memphis has it's problems. Systemic racism, black and white, appears to be big problem. That video could have been taken in any city in the U.S.
  18. Have you shot anything like the Buffalo Bore Ammo. My top load is a 350 Hornady over RL7. It hits 2000 fps and is just no fun. It will flat drop a deer but is painful. I prefer a Rem 405 over a moderate load of Varget. It is accurate and much more fun. I am sure it would kill anything in North America.
  19. I have a Titanium 38. Great little gun. I really like to carry this revolver. Only thing I am not hot about is the porting.
  20. I got my first turn your head and cough at Ft Jackson.
  21. > What is wrong with this picture? Take a look at it and find out before you read on. If you didn't spot it right off the bat, you need more time on the range. > > New AR-15 assault rifles for the department $1,000.00 each. > > Training time $1,000.00 per man/woman. > > Picture on front page of the local paper with the officer standing in full view, not using any cover.....and with the gun magazine in backwards!!!! > > > ......PRICELESS!!! >
  22. I would definitely call base sercurity. But I can tell you, that even if you are active military bringing a weapon on a base is going to be a pita. Chances are there is an SOP (standard operating procedure) for this, but there will be 40 different interpretations of that SOP. And the poor schmuck at the gate will not have any idea what to do other than to go to sweat con alpha. On the other hand, if it is like most of the bases I have been on in the last couple of years. Put it in the trunk in a lock box (unloaded) and don't mention it. You probably won't be stopped and searched. But you could be. Last option is to leave it in the motel/hotel with the 'Do Not Disturb" sign out, until you return. On another note. Congratulation to you and your son. Thank him for his service.
