  1. I did score a nice G20. Now I have to find brass and bullets.
  2.  Went to a gun show today. Vendors were smoking crack. AR's 2000.00, case of 223 was 800.00. I tried to find bullets and brass online, back ordered. No 223 online. I did manage to get some primers. Here we go again. I think i am going to have to take up flintlocks.
  3. Just getting my foot in the door.

    got laid off

It depresses the hell out of me to think of the #### I have gone through trying to find a job in Memphis. I am finally employed doing something I was never trained for nor ever though I would be in. My wife is active duty and should have been able to retire two years ago. But due to my lack of employment she has had to stay in and transfer over seas for two years. Unemployment is an ego and self esteem crusher.
  5. I believe the pictures are from the storm in September. I read an article that the Guard was on station during Sandy, but had changed to BDU's and did not want to be photographed.
  6. Yes MSSA is about the only option we have. It is a nice place but pricey.
  7. He looked like he was in a lot better shape than the Cop.
  8. If it was me I wouldn't do a thing to the pistol. I would make a thousand rounds and learn to shoot it. To me the 1911 is a very shootable pistol. It has one of the best triggers ever. Learning to grip the pistol will also make it easier to shoot. I grip with both thumbs riding along the slide with the right hand thumb (I am right handed) on top of the thumb safety. It provide a high hold that is very steady. http://youtu.be/ysa50-plo48
  9. Is this your first 1911, and are these the first rounds through it? If so, shoot a couple of thousand rounds through it and you will know how accurate it is. I have an old SA that has had probably 15+ thousand rounds fired. It is still very accurate, but the slide is kind of sloppy. I call it my ugly gun. I also have a Dan Wesson CBOB that is very accurate.
  10. Just an FYI. This event will be held in the Meeman-Shelby Forest. It will be a first for me and I wanted to pass it along.
  11. Don't feel bad. I was shooting with some friends in SoCal, one was an EOD Navy guy. He shoved a 40 in a 45 magazine. It looked just like your pic.
  12. I watched part one. Compared to the book it was a big disappointment. I will watch the second but I have very low expectations.

    ruger

I have both. They are both stout revolvers. The GP is quite a bit larger than the SP.
  14. Nothing wrong with that round. If you put it where it needs to go I would probably take most anything in TN. I load the 150 Ballistic Silver tips in mine. They work quite well.
  15. I understand. I have a bunch of reloading manuals and they all have some differences. You are on the low end so you should be fine.
  16. I have found my Marlin to be very forgiving when it comes to reloads. It really likes a hot load of RE7 with the Hornady 350 and it also likes Varget and a 405. It is just easy to load. The Hodgon site lists IMR4198 loads from 47 to 50gns with the Hornady 350. 350 GR. HDY JRN IMR IMR 4198 .458" 2.540" 47.0 2032 32,500 CUP 50.0 2131 36,600 CUP
  17. I would start at 50 to get it on paper. It will then be pretty close at 100. I would make up a few rounds for sighting in then go with your other loads. My eyes aren't what they used to be, so shooting irons at 100 wouldn't be the best judge of groups for me. I know my 1895 will shoot honest one inch groups at 100, with a scope. What loads are you shooting?
