I know it would not be something you would think our Government would ever do but there was a lot of things that took place in Nam that we never talked about and in most cases were covered up. I only heard rumors about what really had taken place but I was hearing these rumors while still in country long before Mr Coppola made his movie. I don't know many or any of the details but just rumors. Because of my teams assignments in Recon and Intel we did get tiny bits and pieces of things going on but never bothered to follow up as it was not part of our job. It was a lot like the acts pertaining to Air America and what they actually were into. That was never really explained either but they did exist. That is why I have made it not a part of my memory as much as possible.............. JMHO

Well, I am not seeing a swarm of people looking to get into any trade schools that would require punching a time clock and working with their hands and manual labor! My Son I Law is the Superintendent of one of the largest Commercial Fireproofing Company in the South east and he has been begging for help for over a year and his boss has given him a green light to hire what ever he needs and he has been forced to use Temp Services because he can't find anyone willing to work. He was able to hire 2 men off the Temp Service after they had filled their contract with the temp service. Since doing that the Temp Service says they don't have anyone capable of filling that type of labor. Those services get Po'ed when a company hires their temps full time. Right now they have 5 positions open and can't find help. I think one of the real problems is finding people that can pass a drug test. They have made appointments for drug tests for about 30 people in last month and not 1 showed up for tests. They are starting laborers at $15.00 and hour with time and a half over 40 and they are working an average of 60 hours a week so the men are making good money. $ 1050.00 a week for laborers is not bad money............JMHO

I need to make a correction on my last post. I did watch one movie about Nam. It was called Apocalypse Now and I think most folks know about that movie and mission in the movie. It was based on a true story and I did not approve of our country sending in a assassin to kill one of our own Colonels but I was familiar with the actual operation. Colonel Kurtz was assassinated as an accused Traitor. The entire story about his true reason for his actions have never been completely released. The truth was also never released..........JMHO

You have some very good points for sure. I have heard all my life I want better for you than I had so you need to go to college. I offered college to both of my sons which of course oldest died in a car crash but youngest son was working part time with me in Auto Repair business while finishing High School and Auto Mechanics was what he wanted to do in his future so I did pay for his education in Auto Tech School in Nashville and when he graduated I turned the business over to him as I could no longer work due to health. He is still in business today repairing cars. He was able to put both of his boys through a trade school and the oldest one is an owns an Electrical Contractor Business and his little brother works with him as general manager and his business is booming and he has 8 full time 10 person crews running wide open trying to keep up with demand with all of the construction going on in Tennessee. My Grandson was very smart in doing one thing for his business. He decided to get started he would subcontract his small operation to much bigger Electrical Contractors and that was how he got started 12 years ago. All the time he was subcontracting his services he was adding more and more employees and being able to do more jobs for the big guys. A year ago he became 1 of the big guys and the big contractors were actually recomended him to building contractors for jobs they could not get to. His father and I are very proud of the two boys. They have made big bucks and did not squander it all away like many young people do these days. They both built houses for them selves and they are paid off and now both have small families. Well I have gone on long enough. I try not to brag about my family to much but I am proud that I don't have any slackers in my son, grandsons or Son in Law..................

I think you hit the nail on the head right there but I don't think it is as much Harvey as it is Mexico getting hit by a #2 Hurricane twice and then having the 8.1 earthquake and the country is in shambles at present and Mother Nature has stalled the birds at every location where food remains until it is safe to go. I went and bout 5 more pounds of Sugar yesterday as I was running very low. I'm a firm believer in Mother Nature taking care of her critters.................JMHO

Well I had to dig out my last 3 feeders this morning and fill them and put them up. I have no idea where all the birds that are here have come from but I have way more birds than I have feeders for but I now have 11 up and have had to fill them every 2 days. I think I have about 5 birds for every feeder I have up or maybe more. So many I ca't keep track of them. I just know there are birds fighting around all 11 feeders and I mean at least 5 birds + at each one. I have not had this many birds since about 10 years ago. I thought with the last 4 nights going down into the low 40's they might migrate but they don't seem to be in a hurry to do that...................

Yep, it is amazing how many people do not know how to make good plans when told to evacuate with a storm coming in. Most people wait till last minute to do anything and that is what causes all of the back ups on Interstates. Many people running out of gas because they assume they will be able to get it after leaving the areas. If I lived within 500 Miles of south Florida and they mention a catagory 5 may hit Florida on Friday I'm packing up and leaving on Monday before. You can color me GONE!!!!! Glad you were able to get your family members and get out of there....

I guess these guns listed about that cost big bucks have the same issue as the $59.00 Jennings or Jimminez have. I know they would go off about every time you dropped one of them. You could expect that from a gun costing $59.00 bucks but not for a gun costing in excess of $500.00+ dollars in most cases.................JMHO

I am not sure why she is not comfortable with her Bersa Thunder for a nightstand gun since she can just about drive thumb tacks with it. B.T. spent numerous hours with her at the range and spent no telling how much money in ammo until she was totally safe with it and totally comfortable with it. I did load 5 back up magazines for her to keep in the night stand drawer for the Bersa. That was another thing BT worked on was reloading the gun when the action locked open on empty. I'm not going to mention a wheel gun to her again and see if she forgets about getting one and just keeps the Bersa. She also has that 380 Body Guard and uses same ammo......JMHO P.S. I went and looked at Wheel Guns on Buds and they sure are proud of them price wise!!!!

Sounds like you don't have enough tension on A/C belt. I would look at that first and then I would check and be sure you have not put to much Freon in the system...............JMHO

I have spent many nights waking up in cold sweats from dreams and for a long time I have seemed to have gotten over them so probably not going to watch it. Not going to chance going back into nightless sleeps. I have managed to avoid watching all the movies they made over the years about that war. I know they are only movies but not going to push the envelope..............JMHO

I was kind of expecting it to drift up into Tennessee. I just hope it does not park on top of us like Harvey did and dump a ton of rain on us again............JMHO

LOL, I forgot you have got to meet her and you know how small she is. Do they make a double action Heritage. I thought they were all single actions. I have given this some thought and I know she said she would like to ahve a wheel gun but I think if I just let it rest she will just keep the Bersa on her night stand like she is now and carry the Body Guard as she has started doing. I will only bring it up again if she does............JMHO

Well, a buddy and I took her to a private indoor range about a week ago because she had never shot the 380 Body Guard. It was a gun B.T. carry as back up under his left arm while packing a Tok or 1911 on his belt. She did remarkable with the BG after she got past the size of the gun verses her Bersa. After about 8 magazines she began hitting center mass pretty much consistantly at 10 to 12 feet. Like I said she is not new to shooting. Just new to different guns. She has always wanted a wheel gun but B.T. kept her with the Bersa because she was so good with it. I have considered a 22 Mag for her and she said she was not all that particular with caliber as much as she is being comfortable with the gun, weight and recoil. She said if I can hit what I am shooting a 22Mag should stop about any bad guy won't it or at least really discourage them and I said I would think so. I have even considered getting a 22 mag wheel for my house. I have more faith in them than I do a 32 cal. when it comes to stopping ability. What are ya'lls thought on a 22 Mag and if you think it would do the job which 22 Mag would folks like to speak out about?

I have had the weather channel on all morning and they have mentiond that on it's path projection it should cover the entire state of Florida with wind and rain but they think the eye will swing up to the east coast but said that is just a guess a this point.

Ok, I am in need of some advice about a wheel gun. B.t's wife is in the market for a wheel gun to keep on night stand and not for carry. She carries a 380 Body Guard but wanting a wheel gun for home defense. B.T. had an S&W 357 but she could not shoot it due to weight and recoil. They lady is 5ft tall and might weigh 80 lbs. Since I have very little to no knowledge on wheel guns I am looking for suggestions of what to look for that she may be able to safely use. She can shoot a Bersa Thunder 380 which is what BT taught her to shoot with and is very good with it. She has it but wants a wheel gun and going to sell the Bersa. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bersa

I have noticed over my years of watching storms either like these of if they predict snow that everyone says they need to go get milk and bread. The milk I can understand but like mentioned earlier Bread & Milk sandwiches???? If I'm going to the store to stock up for a storm I want something to go on the bread besides Milk!!!!!!.................JMHO

Well it does now look like it is going to turn due north after striking Cuba which like someone else mentioned would be Florida, Georgia and South Carolina as targets and maybe a small part of Southeastern Tennessee and from tha point who knows where she may go? That is not edged in stone as we have all seen in the past while trying to predict these abominations!!!!!

The national Weather Service says that one is going to slam Mexico and probably do a Harvey and make a U turn and hit Mexico again but it is not expected to impact Texas.

Well the National Weather Service says the peak season for hurricanes peaks on September 12th so I guess Mother Nature is going to try and make the best of the next 7days to make up for the very mild season we had last year............jmho

I keep saying it is not going to be good for anyone in it's path period. With all the rain we got from Harvey just think about what we could get if Irma stays on it's path and comes up into Georgia and Alabama after hitting Florida...........................
