  1. Congrats....we hit the woods around 9 am and sat it out all day long...saw a couple huge doe but too much real estate between the business end of the .270 and the meat...still....memories were made and I would rather have an unsuccessful day hunting with my boys than many things in this life....I wouldn't trade it for anything....
  2. Great...I can hear the bro-in-law say later in the evening during the kids trick or treating...."hey man, I understand not dressing up and all that...but whats up with that growth thing you got on your neck there?"
  3. I could say some things that would make you cry from laughing but...I think I'll stick to candlelight and good food and music for the wife....lessons learned!
  4. Know how you feel...skeeters don't bother me much but they love the boys...guess they are sweeter than I am....but the ticks....I'm like a big buffet on thanksgiving...
  5. Your killin me....so much for my proof reading skills! He is 11...not 110...which would put me in the record books somewhere! And yes, I do have a great ground blind...you know...that was one of the best purchases I have made..did very well from it last year! Boys are just as excited as I am...can't wait! I can deal with the skeeters but hate the ticks...or maybe it is the post hunt tick check....
  6. Ok fellas...the youth hunt is this weekend and I am takin out my 11 yr old and my 15 yr old....with temps this week in the mid 60's to low 70's for highs and lows in the 50-60 range what are the odds that the pests are still kicking. I know around here we have had a few frosts but is that enough to make them dissappear? Some of you guys that have been doing a little bow hunting please chime in...or any with a little more experience than myself (that shouldn't be too hard!)....usually it is much colder than it is currently before I hit the woods....thanks in advance!
  7. 1 John 4 1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. "Religious" to be used as a term to define a belief is very misleading...I am religious about many things...coffee in the morning...the gas station I go to....where I shop...even checking the forum...."Religion" is more of a pattern of behavior rather than a spiritual conviction. As far as spiritual....well, there are many "spirits"...to say that one is spiritual, that may be true...but to determine whether or not they are of God is a different story. My convictions are not based upon my beliefs, but God's teachings and the leadership of HIS SPIRIT...to discern whether or not they are of God is based upon prayer, study, and medition in his word. To say that one is a Christian means to be Christ-Like...and there are many that label themselves as Christians that are no more Christ-Like than my bassett....and I agree with many that state that there are Christians with a holier than thou attitude...being saved and a Christian, or a Child of God, makes me no better than anyone else...only better off!
  8. I really enjoy raffles as well...you never know what you might win...but with bacon?

  10. Romans 10: 1Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Just because a person..or a group of individuals may seem to be...or say they are religious...does not mean that they are "correct" in thier belief. I am religious about making coffee every morning, about going to the same gas station, using the same bank, getting enough sleep....I can be reigious about many thing aside from the TRUTH. Claiming to be "religious" holds no weight until you determine what you are religious about. Religion can be ANY system of faith and worship. In this sense, religion comprehends the belief and worship of pagans and Mohammedans, as well as of Christians; any religion consisting in the belief of a superior power or powers governing the world, and in the worship of such power or powers. Thus we speak of the religion of the Turks, of the Hindoos, of the Indians, &c. as well as of the Christian religion. We speak of false religion, as well as of true religion. To claim to be "Christian" claims within itself to be "Christ-Like"....if this is the standard that all forms of Christianity are to be (and will be) judged...well, there are many "false" religions out there that are claiming the name in word but not deed...
  11. Not many Christians strapping bombs to themselves and blowing folks up in the name of Christianity...at least not that I see. Also, you are correct, individual interpretation of scripture has diluted the message and turned it into something its not...example...how can the same belief accept homosexuality on one hand and on the other rebuke it...or abortion...tithing...or even the salvation process itself...man has butchered the Word into a mockery of what it is. As for violence...Christ instructed us to love one another, but also to not be spineless but to stand for what is right....by his interpretation, not mine.
  12. Don't get me wrong...I DO understand and there should be a profit made for all organizers of this type of event as well as opportunities for vendors to get their product in the hands of consumers and give their "best" sales pitch. Events like this are organized by people with a passion for all that the 2nd stands for and should be supported. There is money to be made not only at the door but also from future sales that may not take place that particular weekend, but down the road and also an opportunity for relationships, business and personal, to be forged based upon a common thread. I doubt however, that the deciding factor for whether the event achieves anticipated revenue figures is based upon the number of children that "expect" to pay the same as the adult that has been to a hundred of shows in the past. As I had mentioned, I will have my boys there with me, as I am sure others will also. They.....however, will not "expect" pay, as they are not business professionals, public servants nor military.....but children....and I will gladly pay their admission. I'm done...forget the suggestion....just offering feedback but I realize that the intent of it was for the site...and it looks great.
  13. Agreed, but surely this isn't going to be considered like "most" events, or what would be the point. Just some constructive criticism from someone WITH kids that are avid shooters and young outdoorsmen...I'll be there regardless...some others may not.
  14. Site looks really good...do have a comment though....I believe the price for kids is a little out of line....full price for an 11 yr old? I feel that the kids 16 and under should be 1/2 price at least if not free. I don't see the logic with an 11 yr old getting charged more than a police officer. To some it may be no big deal, and whats $4 anyway right? Well, I believe it would help encourage attendees to bring their kids along...after all, the torch gets passed to them....
  15. Guess I'll get out that Jennings 9 and trade her in....I was scared to shoot the thing anyway!
