Elite special forces hand to hand combat techniques.
E4 No More replied to Handsome Rob's topic in General Chat
That was worth a chuckle, Wonder how long it took them to put it together? -
Both of my vehicles lock the doors automatically. What I don't like about the Caddy is that when you put the car in park it automatically unlocks the doors too.

Yet I was in college in my 30's and could tell you exactly who was president. What's your point? Before I had college, I learned in the Marine Corps while dealing with many college educated people, (both officers and enlisted), that college doesn't make the person; it can only improve the person. As I barely graduated high school because I didn't give a crap back then, I spent a lot of my day correcting the writings of college educated people.

Me too.

That's funny. I entertained the thought of becoming a lawyer when I got burnt-out with the police department. I looked at the cost of school versus the entry-level salaries of the average student of $24,000, laughed, and went another course. The irony is I still got screwed with the choice I did take.

Tax return? :bowrofl: I'm paying $21,000 and getting about $20 back after paying H&R Block for the use of their website.

In this case there would be no doctors or lawyers for sure. I don't think the latter would be a bad thing. :)

I get what you're saying: however, there's a big difference in a judge telling you to appear before him/her and a judge telling you to violate your religious belief.

I think that this whole conversation is pretty silly. It's easy for people to be critical when they have no skin in the game. So you went college on your own dime? Great. I'm glad the circumstances in YOUR life allowed you to do so. So you didn't go to college? Great! I'm glad that the circumstance in YOUR life worked out for you too. You want to spend 30 years to get a 4 year degree so that you pay for it a little at a time without debt but the degree is useless when you get it? Great! I'm glad that YOUR life circumstances allow you to do so. I'm struck by the amount of people who would bitch about college being free for those who desire to learn but bitch about the system as it is. News flash: You can't bankrupt out of student debt, period! It's your debt until you pay it off or die. This guy got arrested for contempt of court; not for not paying his debt. He thumbed his nose at the judge and got what he deserved.
-
Weren't they arrested for failure to appear on a summons, anyway?

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/02/17/missing-radioactive-material-in-iraq-prompts-nationwide-search-isis-fears.html?intcmp=hpbt1 This just gives me a bunch of warm-fuzzies! :( I guess that it was just a matter of time.

I wasn't denigrating your accomplishments either, Monkey. Some on here are making the point of not paying back other people's money for their education. The point I was making is that scholarships, grants, etc, are in fact not paying back other people's money with the obvious difference being that you aren't expected to pay it back. Public schools are paid by public funds too. This topic is really a can of worms, but student loans, (until the government took it over), were being made by copious amounts of lenders despite the default rate because they were government backed. Higher education has created one heck of a mess that can't be easily remedied.

Where do you think scholarship money comes from? It's great that you had parents that helped, but far too many have parents who can't help.
-
Tax returns seized and wages garnished are what they normally do, eventually. You can't bankrupt out and they'll even take your SS payments.
-
I certainly agree with that, but there are also non-party schools that are crazy expensive.
-
Great, you're one out of how many who could accomplish this because the circumstances favored the outcome? Try this with a post-graduate degree and see if you can say the same. I'm not denigrating what you have done, but circumstances vary greatly so you can't say everyone can do the same as you.

My wife and I regret it too. My wife got a MBA a few years ago to better us financially. It has done absolutely nothing for us: therefore, it's actually hurting us greatly. My degree has done nothing for me in my field of technical sales.

So we should go back to debtor's prisons? Yeah, right.

I didn't start this thread to complain about the problem per-se. Heck, I live with pain almost constantly for various reasons that include two back surgeries which is what led to the kidney failure. I just wanted to make everyone aware that this virus was going around so that they can take precautions, and to remind folks what their children may be going through that they've forgotten about. My boss actually pointed out the latter having young children himself. We can rationalize the pain and discomfort whereas children can't.

Only if I want to advance to stage 4 & 5 kidney failure. Stage 5 is where you are on dialysis & transplant list. :(

I have 20's on my RAM 2500 4x4 and I have a lot of space with the truck just leveled. I plan on getting wider/larger tires, but not larger wheels. I, like you, will not be off-roading in the truck.

I have neighbors who watch my house too. The woman's craft room window faces my house. She's called the police on one of my kids because my daughter came by the house unexpectedly while we were camping. The Rottweiler in the back yard discourages people from trying the back of the house. :)

Unfortunately, I cannot take NSAIDs like Ibuprofen due to stage 3 kidney failure. They are nephrotoxic.

I've had allergies affect my inner ears and such. I've had throat infections travel up my Eustachian Tubes. This is the first time as an adult that I've had a full-on infection of the inner ear. At 12:30am Tuesday morning it felt like my ear was about to explode! With my wife she's experiencing vertigo as well. Fortunately, I haven't had that.
