  1. And did it work?
  2. You got the vaccine, right? Did you get to read any warning label? A technical point I know, but cases are won on technicalities - all things being even. To me it doesn't really matter about the vaccine manufacturer. If your job requires that you get the vaccine then they assume any liability unless you waive their liability.
  3. It seems to me that asswagons would be pretty useful for some Americans.
  4. Rep, yes; Senator, no. Writing to him to ask why not?
  5. Unsurprisingly, my daughter tested positive for COVID at the hospital. She's still in the ER waiting for a room. They put her on oxygen but told her they do not have enough of the machines, (I'm assuming respirators), that she needs, so she's waiting for someone that is on that machine to be moved to life support so she can use it. This is pretty alarming in and of itself, but really not that surprising considering what my wife and I saw in the ICU at St. Thomas of Murfreesboro when I was in there a couple of weeks ago. Both of my grandsons, (the sons of my disabled daughter), have COVID now as well. They are secluded in their room so hopefully they won't give it to my other granddaughter.
  6. Edit: She's now got it coming out both ends so we're taking her to the hospital.
  7. Unfortunately, my daughter is at the mercy of Tenncare who do the minimum. She seems to be hanging on for now and not needing to go to the hospital.
  8. I heard on the radio today that there have been 39 deaths from break-out COVID in the state. At first I was shocked until I thought about it a bit. 1. The people who died could have been part of the 5% of people on whom the Pfizer/Moderna's vaccines are not effective. 2. The people who died could have been part of the 28% of people on whom the J&J vaccine is not effective. 3. The infections were truly breakthrough infections, and for some unknown reason the vaccines did not give lessened COVID severity as advertised. This makes me wonder what that percentage is. One of my fears has come a reality. My granddaughter brought COVID into the house, and now my disabled daughter who was advised by her doctor not to get the vaccine because he didn't know how it would affect her neurological disorder now has COVID. Fortunately, for now she's OK.
  9. No kidding. Can't even go through a drive through without some kid showing lack of appreciation for having a job, nor an ability to say thank you or you're welcome.
  10. He's out of the hospital. Thanks for asking.
  11. There's free parking in the rear! ROTFLOL!
  12. Thanks. I was planning on adding some OTC medicine, Bandaids, and such to the kit as well. The wound wash is a good call that I obviously forgot about. I am actually a chiropractor that hasn't practiced the trade in 21 years, but I still retain quite a bit of knowledge and thus I am bound by Good Samaritan laws to help at an accident scene where I can. My wife, on the other hand, knows little about it, but I am encouraging her to to view videos as to how to use the items in the bag and also gain knowledge on CPR although I doubt she's physically capable of performing it on someone including me. She has no cartilage in her knees and couldn't stand the pain to administer CPR to someone on the ground until paramedics arrived. If it were me on the ground I would hope that adrenaline would help her out, but I'm not counting on it. She'd probably be limited to applying a pressure bandage or slapping a seal on a sucking chest wound.
  13. I had the HoLEP procedure a few years ago. I was in the hospital for a couple of days with a cath, but after it was removed I felt like I was piss'n with a fire hose for several weeks until I got used to it again.
  14. Both are administered out of the SS office and are something that an individual pays into unless they are disabled from childhood. I'd hardly call them freeloaders. I actually have a disabled adult daughter who worked and paid into the system until she became disabled who can't get disability because that system is just as hard as the VA system, (deny until they die), so I am a bit offended by your statement.
  15. This isn't necessarily for others; it's for my wife and I.
  16. I am no EMT or Paramedic, but given my recent ambulance ride to the ER for a pulmonary embolism along with my advancing age I have decided to stock small trauma bags to be put in both vehicle in the event that I either need to save my wife, or she needs to save me. I have picked up some first responder knowledge in the Marine Corps, police department, and elsewhere. Realizing that I can go overboard, I am looking for informed recommendations as to what to stock the bags with. Here is what I have so far: 1. CPR Mask for adult & children 2. Adventure Medical Kits Trauma Pak First Aid Kit with Quickclot Sponge which includes: 1- Quickclot Gauze 3" x 24" 1- Trauma Pad 5" x 9" 2- Nitrile Gloves 1- Duct Tape 1- Triangular Bandage 2- Sterile Gauze Dressing 4" x 4" 2- Sterile Gauze Dressing 2" x 2" 1- Conforming Gauze Bandage 3" 6- Antiseptic Wipes 1- Trauma Response Instructions 3. Recon Medical Trauma Kit which includes 1 each of: Gen 4 Tourniquet 7.5" Titanium Bonded Trauma Shears 4" Pressure Trauma Bandage Compressed Gauze Chest Seal Rescue Blanket 4. Cohesive Tape 5. Bleed Stop (since I am now on blood thinners) 6. 36" Splint 7. Nitrile Gloves for my huge hands Is there anything that I am reasonably missing?
  17. Have you not heard the saying, "Individuals are smart; people are stupid"? And old Nancy is already working on a way to make it worse since the SC said dementia Joe's order is invalid.
  18. A Glock would be easier.
  19. Well, the most effective traps are the ones you can't see.
  20. I had the Moderna in March. I had a history of blood clots in the legs well before the vaccine, so no, concerns. The civie doctors were a little annoyed that the VA did NOT have me on any blood thinners after having a blood clot in each leg over the past few years.
  21. I appreciate that. Hopefully, there won't be a next time. In the case of my wife, she gets emails from over seas at all hours of the night because she's the treasury manager of a global company. The ding-ding-ding of her phone would keep us up at night, and since I battle insomnia anyways, that ain't good. In the case of my grandchildren, they've normally ran their phones down and not put them on the charger. Danged kids!
  22. Yes, and to be clear here's what happened: For the past 4 weeks I have been experiencing shortness of breath. At first it wasn't too severe leading me to believe that my atrial flutter was back. On August 12th I presented myself to the VA's Urgent Care in Murfreesboro with shortness of breath, (more so than in the beginning), non-productive cough, slight runny nose, and swelling in my left leg. The VA did an EKG which showed normal "P waves" (no atrial flutter), so they performed a COVID test for breakthrough COVID which was negative. They did an X-ray that was clear and took some blood for labs. They sent me on my merry way with an echo-cardiogram on the 16th which only showed some valve leakage that's normal for someone of my age. I was to follow up with the cardiologist on Friday the 20. No one every said anything about my blood labs, and that's key here. For the next week my shortness of breath was worsening. At times I was so bad that I thought I'd pass out, but it would let-up with rest. On Thursday the 19th I woke up at 2:00 AM. I battle insomnia so that really isn't unusual. I slowly walked into the living room and sat in my recliner to watch TV. My breathing got worse, and by the time that I got up to take my normal medications I found that I could only take a few steps at a time. I keep my meds in the kitchen by the back door, and I had to stop several times to reach them. There's only 2-3 steps from my medicine cabinet to the island, and I had to stop at the island because I felt that I'd pass out. I gathered myself and only made it to the other end of the island before I had to stop again. I gathered myself again and made it two steps to the end of the couch. Once again I waited and then barely made it to my recliner to fall into it. So here I sat wondering WTF was going on. I could breath but my blood was not oxygenating. I felt no pain in my chest so I did not suspect either an MI nor a pulmonary edema. I sat in my chair trying to think of what to do. I was unable to wake my family up because their phones are off at night, and I couldn't walk back to my bedroom. I didn't want to call 911 because I didn't want them breaking my door down to get to me. I sat there waiting until my 13-year old granddaughter came downstairs for breakfast before school. I then had her go wake my wife. We then called 911 because I knew that I couldn't make it to the car. When I got to the hospital the ER doctor immediately suspected a Pulmonary Embolism. This was bolstered by the fact that my blood test showed extremely elevated enzymes that indicate a blood clots. This is where the VA Urgent care failed me! Why didn't the VA run the same damned blood test when presented with the same damned symptoms? I almost died because they failed to do their due diligence and exercise due care. Moral of the story: 1. If it isn't a routine medical condition then go to civilian healthcare if you can. Just because they call their selves Urgent Care does not equate to competency. 2. Serious problems can present atypically. Don't fail to act because you don't present with classic symptoms.
  23. I got out of the Ascentian St. Thomas hospital in Murfreesboro yesterday after nearly dying from a large pulmonary embolism last Thursday. After they removed the clot, I was eventually moved to the ICU until it was safe to be moved to the cardiac floor on Saturday. I had to wait for a bed to come available in the ICU which took a few hours. Once I got up there I was struck by the amount of people hooked up to ventilators looking like dead bodies just waiting to die. It was easy to determine the COVID rooms because they had constructed what amounts to glass/lexan man traps between the hall and the patient doors. The staff were completely robed, gloved, shielded, and wearing what looked like active carbon respirators before entering the rooms. One of them mistakenly entered my room outfitted as such startling the out of me. My wife, having walked slower past the rooms, got a better look and was shaken by the experience. She said it was like a floor of dead people that were waiting to officially die. Folks, this is no joke. It is a VERY lonely and terrible way to die. Please learn from Phil Valentine and get the damned shot. Many of you I consider friends that I haven't met. and I don't want to hear of you dying this way.
  24. What kind of "reform" do you speak of then? Tennessee is already one of the most doctor-friendly states there is as far as civil cases go. That is the words of a personal injury lawyer who specializes in medical malpractice suits.
