  1. We're up, having breakfast and will be heading out to Hero-Gear Around 7. No sense waiting till the last minute .
  2. It's amazing people are still believing this stuff. I stopped at WM to see if they had any 9mm this AM. None to be found. They did have lots of rifle ammo and some 250 rd boxes of 40 S&W. The lady behind the counter said they are not getting anymore because all ammunition has to be coded from now on. A guy standing at the counter ID'ed himself as a Polk Co. cop and said they can't even get 9mm for the same reason. I started to explain that bill was from last year and didn't pass and as far as I know didn't come up this year. But I just shook my head and walked off. I wish people would stop fueling the fire.
  3. It has to be straight bleach. No scents or softners.
  4. That is a great list. GO GEEKS!!!
  5. Old guy shoes. I lke my slip ons with a shoehorn on a 2' stick.
  6. If demand jumps dramatically, there's only so much they can do to increase output without major capital investment in new facilities. Those are both very expensive and take a long time to put in place. If the manufacturers believe this to be a temporary spike in demand which will drop off after people have what they think they need, there is no return on an investment in new capacity - by the time it's in place, it will be no longer needed. That would be a great way to drive up the price of ammo or put a manufacturer into bankruptcy. This one of the reasons our economy is screwed up now. Things have been good for too long. Consumers have been buying and companies have been going into hock to increase production, now people are not buying and companies can't pay their debts. Consumers who were doing well have gone into hock to buy, now have been laidoff and can't their debts. We're just going to have to bit the ammo bullet (no pun intended) until it all straightens out and gets back to normal.
  7. Read some of the other articles in that newspaper. Scary stuff going on in that country. Whats worse is our country is headed in that direction.
  8. Water weighs 8.34 lbs per gallon and any quantity over about 20 gals, depending on the container, will be difficult to move. I think any stored water, even city water, should be treated when obtained and boiled and filtered before use. If you're in a SHTF situation you certainly don't want to get sick due to bad water or food. Add 16 drops (1/8 teaspoon) of bleach per gallon of water, stir, and let stand for 30 minutes. The water should have a slight bleach odor. If it doesn’t, then repeat the dosage and let stand another 15 minutes. If it still does not smell of chlorine, discard it and find another source of water. Before use means even if you're just going to wash Mr. Sandman out of your eyes or brush your teeth.
  9. I think the round count for IDPA is less then 100, $10 to enter and once a month. Less then going to a movie? Practice drawing and reloading free . I don't think I've ever had cheap hobby.
  10. Stopped by to see what goes on at a meet. They had some great stages set up. Lots of barricades for the shooter to move to and around. One stage had two moving targets. Might have to give it a try next month. Looks like a lot of fun.
  11. Arko, Did you make it Cleveland IDPA today?
  12. No, it's not dead. Just show up at the next meeting, see Sean, fill out the app, and pay your money. I think it's $65 for the year. You can get directions to the club on their web site. My wife and I will probably be there. I'll have a TGO hat on. Just read the rest of your post. We may be there today also. I usually have a blue fire-rescue hat on. http://www.chrpc.com/ April 7, 2009CHRPC Club Meeting 7:30pm
  13. I was sure that line was from Gone With The Wind. It was spoken by Gable, as Rhett Butler, in his last words to Scarlett O'Hara. It occurs at the end of the film when Scarlett asks Rhett, "Where shall I go? What shall I do?" if he leaves her. The line is memorable not only because it contains a swear word (which was generally not allowed in films of that time period), but because it demonstrates that Rhett has finally given up on Scarlett and no longer cares what happens to her. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankly,_my_dear,_I_don't_give_a_damn.
  14. Next Friday or Saturday would be good to make the drive. Almost all manufacturers are doing something like Sig. Candy bars are the same price but not the same size.
  15. the signs are a way of killing the bill Why do you need a sign that says something is not against the law? What would the sign say, illegal possession of a firearm is not permitted, holders of valid HCP may bring their firearm into the park ? Is it me or is this just more more stupid . Some people need to have a tape recording of eveything they say during the day and have to listen to it before they go to bed.

    New GLOCK

"I'd give my left nut for a Glock and the right one for a Glock 21FS"
  17. I've used A1AMMO a number of times. I made one order and they held it for me because I was going out of town. The day I returned the UPS truck pulled in the drive right after I did.
  18. Thanks for this link Sun. I don't have manuals for most of my firearms, so this will be great. I hope these can be downloaded and print only the english pages. Just asked the wife, she says no problem. Cool.
  19. I showed my wife the pics and explained it to her, she got on line and ordered one. They didn't say it wasn't in stock, so we may have it at the end of the week. Thanks again.
  20. Thanks Dave. I'm sure I looked at it, but it's hard to tell from a pic. I'll go to their site right now. That's exactly the one I saw. Thanks again.
  21. How about IDPA holsters for the ladies? My wife would like to start practicing but the holsters we have now press the butt into her side making it a little difficult to draw. I have searched the net and found a Fobus (I think) that let the gun stand more upright but couldn't find it again. Any other suggestions? Once we find the type of holster we'll need to pick the pistol. She likes my S&W 5906, but we just picked up a 5903 which is about 30% lighter, hope she likes that one.
  22. I didn't bring up the point of taxes because it's all been said and I've been there. In Washington state almost half the cost of a bottle of Jim Beam is tax and the reasoning is the same as cigs. "We want the tax to help pay the cost of DUI injuries and illnesses. BS!!!! As far as this thread...... It has been brought up about health, insurance issues and who has quit. The relevence is that a lot of smokers are inconciderate as to when and where they smoke, and chewers are inconciderate as to where they spit and discard their chaw. And I'll admit, that I was probably one of the former when I smoked. My only point is smoking has been proven to be unhealthy and I think it's very wrong to smoke in a vehicle with your kids couped up in there.( A 3 year old can't read that warning.) And sometimes I ignore my dad, see sig below.
  23. Just when I was starting to laugh at you sissies. Now I'll have nightmares.
  24. I quit 20 somethin' years ago. I don't want to sit next to a smoker while I'm eating, or ride the bus sitting next to you. My choice. But I can't tell you how many cars I've seen that you can't hardly see in the windows for the nicotine coating, but there's a kid or two in carseats sucking that crap in. Should be child abuse. They're not adults and have'nt made that choice.
  25. You know you can get kooties letting others wear yours.. I will only wear my own, which will be purchased on March 27, as soon as I get to Hero Gear.
