Solid avice, and I'll pass it along. Thanks everyone

Thanks for replies here, and please keep them coming if there's anything else to consider. Thanks

Is there anything special about a pre Ban bushmaster, or any reason not to have it out and getting use of it? My friend has one that he is worried it might devalue it. I can't find a source that says if it's special enough not to get some use of it. Any advice is appreciated.

Hornady LockNLoad kit - good or not so much?
TN Song Dog replied to TN Song Dog's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Please suggest some dies brands and sets for 6.5CM. Any reason not to opt for the Lee 4 die set? Price is most reasonable, and it looks to cover all bases other than micrometer type seater. -
Hornady LockNLoad kit - good or not so much?
TN Song Dog replied to TN Song Dog's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I was in no real hurry, but a sweet deal on a new RCBS kit came up on another site. Too good to pass up, so I'll have the rock chucker kit here in another day or two. -
I'm surprised your .280AI hasn't sold yet.

Picked up my new rifle today, and it's nice... and very light. Has DNZ one peice base/rings and a basic Nikon 3x9 BDC. I may swap out the scope later, but I'm liking the weight of this thing. Looking forward to some range time to try a few different loads.

Thanks Rob, and I DO need to look into reloading further. I was looking at some of the beginner kits, but it's quite confusing exactly what all is necessary to produce loaded ammo. I've never been around any reloading, and I know I'm over complicating a lot of it in my head... I'm not ready to take the plunge into it right now, but I will definately be seeking help when I get ready. I don't want to buy more gadgets than are necessary, but I also don't want to buy junk on the front end. My stash of brass is building, so I may start off slow with a press and set of dies to deprime and size, then look into tumblers... or maybe tumbling/cleaning comes first?? Ha!

Well, I found a 16 LWH in 6.5CM that I'll have soon. I already have another 6.5, so no new caliber. I was originally thinking about 243, but I'm excited and think it will make a good light weight hunting rifle. All my others are heavy barrel, and I always get tired of lugging around after a while. Hope to find a factory load that shoots well.

Harm may or may not come from it, but it's generally not advised. Bi metal bullets may also cause more barrel wear. .223 brass cased with lead bullet ammo is cheap enough to not really warrant attempting anything 5.56 in a .223 chamber. PMC Brass is a good option for 55gr fmj bulk plinking ammo, and there are many others. There are several good options in Soft Point for affordable varmint and predator ammo, too. If target shooting on the cheap, look at the Privi 69gr (if 9 twist or faster). 69gr bthp puts a hurting on coyotes too.

Hornady LockNLoad kit - good or not so much?

Thanks Hoz. If you were buying one of the kits from any company and starting from scratch, which brand would you lean towards? Rcbs, lee, lyman, hornady, etc... -

How would you compare Lyman Crusher pro kit? Saw one listed in classifieds. Thanks for everyone's input here. -
Looking at getting into reloading for my rifles. Anyone have opinions on the Hornady LNL press and kit, as a starting place?

I love Savage and wish them luck with the AR.... but... seems like a strange move for them.

I've got a Hero 3 Black + that I would let go, if anyone is interrested. Used very little and in excellent condition. All factory mounts are unused, and I also have the head band mount. Shoots in up to 4k and different shutter speeds. Lots of features. Send me a PM if any interest.

Thanks Dolo!

Not sure if I want to build a target rifle or a sporter weight multi use rig. I'm in no rush to start it, but mostly interested in putting together a rifle myself and on the cheap that will make my buddies jealous of how good it shoots! Thanks for offers on barrel and trigger. I'll definately reach out when I get going, and good call on GOC and long action.

I'd really like to find a really good deal on a model 11/111 pre-accutrigger (or post if the price is right) and then order a Criterion and Boyds tactical. Rob, I might have to work out something with you or get instruction on trigger work if I find a pre-accutrigger. Not sure on caliber... 6mm 8 twist or 6.5mm variant maybe? First things first, I need a donor rifle.

Count me in on the meetings, got 4 right now and an eye out for #5. Now I've not smithed on any of mine, but that's because they don't need it. All 4 were around half inch from the start. First 3 shots from my 10PC were basically touching at 100yd. I'm honestly afraid to buy anything other than Savage... don't want to be disappointed. Next on my list is to find one on the cheap to "play" with. Other than that, a weather warrior in .243 would fill a gap I perceive to have in my lineup. I've steered away from the axis, but I see a lot of good feedback on them.

That looks sharp. I was eyeing the RPR and Savage Stealth late last year when I came across a Savage LRP. The LRP has been great with no complaints, but I still like this Tikka. I looked into the Tikka offerings at the time, and the only one in 6.5 was the more traditional looking tac model with 20" barrel.

Rich Spalin from Viking Concealment. He is a personal friend and has the molds for exactly what you are looking for. He is in Nashville area. www.vikingconcealment.com

I'll be following the reviews on these, especially the AR10s. I hope they turn out to be good, but it feels like a big questionable jump into something outside of Savage's box.

Is the M&P 2.0 going to be a modular system like the P320 and P250?
TN Song Dog replied to TGO David's topic in Handguns
Saw a release today, and no mention of being modular. -
It sounds like Daisy had a awesome life. So sorry for your loss, though.
