Here's a piece I had in my pile o' stuff. Think it's from a cape-wilde-mammoth-o'-beest or something. I'm already having thoughts of replacing my Kabar sheath, or maybe a stacked sheath for my Esee 5. Dunno yet, but it's going on something.

My thoughts exactly. I really am enjoying the learning, but, the wasted time and material from mistakes can kind of mess up your day. Thanks for the complements gentlemen. I hope to be able to put out some consistent quality products on a regular basis soon.

Well, a couple. The orange looking leather I was trying to make for my SOG Seal Pup. Well we see how that worked out. I really wanted a very slimline sheath, and I cut the width too shy. Got it all sewed up (without checking first), brought the black dye just up to the stitch line, then found out there was no way on this green earth that SOG was going in that sheath. Picked up my son's old Kabar with laminated wood grip and ..... sssssnick! Just like I had measured his knife instead of mine. Next attempt: Cut it right, sewed it right, tried to put it in a low temp oven to dry (170 deg.), didn't leave it very long, came out looking sort of like a six month old banana. THIRD! attempt is the black one here. Made myself a comfortable, slim, lightweight, left hand sheath. FINALLY! Me likey. Sometimes the process of learning sucks.

Here's a couple of blades my buddy hammered out in his forge. I'm making sheaths for both of them now. I just gave the top one back to him today so he can finish building it for his Dad. He still needs to finish the grip, polish the blade, and put an edge on it. The one on the bottom is his every day carry knife. He's been carrying that one for a good while now. It's been a good one. I think I've got him talked into making some blades to sell, but so far he's been one of those guys whose happy to make something for family or tribe and enjoy the process. I'm glad he's the one enthused about heating and hammering steel. Looks a lot like work.

Final product on the Kabar sheath. Glad I was just making this one for myself. Made some mistakes and found some things I'll do differently on my next sheath. But, for some novice work I'm kinda satisfied with it. It'll do to go along with me to the woods.

That looks like an amazing fighting knife. You knife makers on here are putting the commercial knife companies to shame!

Thank you kindly gentlemen. JAB, I don't know if I did the striker rod loop correctly or not, but I thinned out a piece and doubled it over, then wet formed for the loop. So I then had to cut a space in the welt for that to replace. Don't know if that was the right thing to do, but we shall see. I've been trying to learn all I can from this "kid" in England named Ian Adkinson. Found him on YouTube and have been amazed by his work. Now if I can just catch up.:)

I need to learn some better ways, and actually get a few tools. Maybe then it wouldn't feel like a life sentence from start to finish.

Still have work to do on this one, it's not finished yet. I'm learning as I go.
