  1. Bumping this back to the top. I've got more optics than I need at this point, which seems kind of hard to believe.
  2. Suing doesn't bring grandma / mom back, but it could offset funeral expenses and likely will line the pockets of some family members who could have helped her more than they did. I guess that seems awfully negative of me, but people are a predictable species.
  3. Well, that's interesting and unfortunately makes me wonder if her adult children weren't contacted by the hospital or were contacted by the hospital and declined to assist. It is probably safe to say that we aren't hearing all of the details here, and that we are incensed by what we have seen in the police video which, as disturbing as it is to folks with gentle sensibilities, tells one facet of the story. I'm glad I am not a cop.
  4. Does this woman's family live in the local Knoxville area?
  5. I'll never sell any of my P320s or P365s. Their modular design makes them incredibly versatile and "cheap" to tinker with.
  6. I thought I saw that Sig has a version of the Macro coming out soon, or already, that does away with the compensator. Maybe check into that? For what it's worth, the comp works pretty well.
  7. I've never owned a PPQ so I really can't say. From looking at photos, the PDP looks to build off of the PPQ's positive points and adds quite a bit more. The PDP's grip texture is insanely good. Grippy without being abrasive. The PDP F-Series addresses the issues that you had with the length of pull.
  8. Alright, so I am going to toss the newish Walther PDP onto the table for discussion. For some reason these do not get a whole lot of attention, but they are in my opinion one of the best handguns on the market for defensive or duty purposes these days. They have a stellar trigger, especially for a striker-fired gun. They are not only optics-ready but are essentially "optics brand agnostic" thanks to a mounting plate system. And a mounting plate system that is deeply recessed into the slide so that the factory iron sights co-witness with an optic without needing to be replaced with taller variants. People without engineering degrees suddenly became engineering experts when the PDP was released and made much to do about the mounting plate's lack of recoil lugs, which ended up being a complete load of hooey. Even still, Walther addressed that by making an unnecessary modification to the slide with the 2.0 mounting design. And speaking of iron sights, Walther wisely chose to use Glock-pattern sights, so the pistol inherited an insane variety of iron sight options which are easy to remove and install. Rather than being forced to use a pair of sights that you don't really care for, you have a ton of options, and those options were available right out of the gate. The grip texture on these guns is amazing as well, so aftermarket stippling isn't necessary - although I've seen people do it and have wondered why the hell they'd ruin a perfectly good gun like that. And, of course, the grip size is adjustable thanks to a trio of backstraps included with the gun AND folks with even smaller hands can choose the "F" variant of the PDP that has an even smaller grip circumference. Accuracy of the gun is spot-on thanks to an excellent barrel, and the recoil impulse of the gun is smooth and quick, allowing for very fast and flat shooting. It really blows my mind that more people don't own and carry these.
  9. I'll dig into this, cancel one and reimburse it. This may not happen until sometime later this evening, though.
  10. Ah... well you just provoked my fondness for Gen 3 Smith & Wesson semi-autos. The 3913 is a hell of a great 9mm and it was doing the slim-line DA/SA thing decades before the modern striker fired equivalents came along.
  11. Firefox 110.0 (64-bit) on a Windows 11 laptop. You might disable all of your FireFox plugins and see what happens. It could be something funky going on there.
  12. It's something specific to your connection or with your setup. It works for me.
  13. I thought it might be fun to start a conversation about practical handguns that you believe are underappreciated by the gun media, gun owners, etc. Tell us what handguns you feel fall into this category and then tell us why they're so good and why you think they are often forgotten about or diminished? Be ready to defend it, though. If you make a submission and someone challenges it, for whatever reason, don't let that deter you. Maybe we'll all learn something in the back and forth.
  14. Indeed a possibility! If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  15. I don't think he's hurting for business, but I'm not easily offended either. Just because I hear the words, it doesn't mean that I have to start using them, myself.
  16. Meh. I get it and I am not disagreeing with your sentiment, but let's bear in mind that Modern Samurai Project is teaching their way of doing it. They aren't teaching the only way. What I have found interesting and, so far, true about his way of doing it is that it provides a repeatable grip on a myriad of different guns. He can teach a Glock shooter the same method that he teaches a 1911 shooter. It did feel a little awkward to me the first few times that I tried it, because I was used to aligning my grip via a different set of mechanics and had done so for years. But, once I got over my own preferences and gave it a chance, it actually became my new preferred way of doing it. Really this is like hiring a personal trainer to improve your form when lifting at the gym, or a golf pro to fix your swing. If you allow them to teach you and allow yourself to give their recommendations a try, you might find that it was worth the money. If you discard their advice because it doesn't feel the same as what you've always been doing... guess what. You're not going to get your money's worth and your results will probably be what they've always been.
  17. Natural gas or LP gas? I ask because you might need to change the orifice for the burner and make adjustments to the pressure regulator depending on what your source of gas is and what the heater was set up for. Also it could be a thermocouple issue. Gas water heaters have a thermocouple as a safety mechanism and it controls the feed valve. A bad thermocouple could fail to read the heat from the flame and cause the valve to shut off, for safety. You don't want the valve open without a flame, of course. There are ways to test the thermocouple with a multimeter. Lots of content on YouTube for that.
  18. To each their own I suppose, but you're depriving yourself of good training if that's where your bar for participation is set. It's not necessarily arrogant if you can back it up, first of all. And second, you're seeing a small snippet of his class and not seeing the rapport that was already built with his students by the time the video was recorded. Scott Jedlinksi's classes sell out almost immediately. This isn't a case of "I'm going to treat you like crap as a sales gimmick" like you see with places like Original SOE where the bro culture feeds off of the idea that if you're tough enough to take the abuse you're tough enough to own the product and be part of the club. Scott's classes sell out quickly because he's a good teacher and because people come out of them as better shooters.

  20. If a member is truly detrimental to the community, report them. The moderating staff and I are very aware of how one bad apple can poison the well, and it wouldn't be the first time that we've punted someone for being that bad apple.
  21. Another vote for the KME sharpening system here. I've had mine for 3-4 years now and absolutely love it.
  22. I went to a VERY multi-cultural middle and highschool. The minority of my friends were white like me. Most were "other". We didn't do racism and until I was old enough to get out of my hometown and move to big-city Nashville, I really had no basis for what racism was other than what ignorant people I read about in books or saw on the screen did. Call that pretending if you want, but my "society" as a kid wasn't racist and I grew up in the 70's and 80's.
