  1. I had a Kimber Compact CDP II (Officer frame/4" barrel). Worst $990 I've ever spent, but I will admit, it was a 1-holer @ 10 yards.
  2. What about a 3.5 or 4" 1911 with an Officers frame? IIRC, the Commander is simply a full size 1911 - 3/4" of barrel. Same grip, which really doesn't help much if the butt of the gun is what you are trying to conceal. An Officers frame is shorter (from mag base to rear sight), and would be easier to hide. OAL is shorter also, and makes concealment easier if we are talking about OWB holsters. If you're sold on a 1911, seems like a no brainer.
  3. An Attorny General's opinion of a law tells little of the motivation behind getting the law passed. I think keeping accidental "printers" out of harm's way was a big reason some lawmakers initially pushed for no required concealment. Having said that, I don't want a concealed-only law. I just wish more OCers were a little more aware and concious of (and concerned about) the image they that they provide for the sheep.
  4. Does a camcorder exist that enables the user to simply dump video footage in My Videos (in My Documents) on the hard drive, then just open/view them with Windows Media Player? My camera (camera which also shoots video, not a camcorder) does just that, but shoots in AVI, which means that five seconds of video takes up 94 GBs of space (well, not quite that much). It seems that camcorders today use several different formats that all require some type of conversion process, which is a royal pain if you are as technologically ignorant as I am. Does anyone make a simple plug-and-play camcorder for use with Media Player, or am I just a dimwit?
  5. What do you want for your 34?
  6. Some note that 147s hit a little high, but mine are dead on. I run a Glock 34 with a 13 pound spring. 3.2 grains of Titegroup gets me about 890 fps and almost 131 PF. My 115 load makes about the same PF, but recoil is noticably stiffer. The 147s shoot more softly, and are better on steel targets. They run flawlessly, and they are worth the extra $20/1K, IMO. I love 'em.
  7. Most are subsonic. I believe speed of sound = 1088 fps @ sea level. 1200 fps w/ 147 is a Major 9 load used by USPSA guys w/ Open guns.
  8. if looking for an IDPA match... I'll be heading to Puryear to shoot the KY-TN Regional. Don't forget the Tri-State Regional Sep 12, MS State Championship Oct 10, TN State Championship Oct 17, and GA State Oct 24--all within driving distance for many in TN. I'm SOing in the Tri-State, and planning to attend KY-TN and MS State. I'm thinking about Birmingham, AL in November.
  9. and we can probably outshoot you...
  10. what he said Try ordering an M&P frame and having it sent to your house. Let us know how that goes. The frame is the gun, as far as ATF is concerned.
  11. Guess they decided the Kimber method sucked...
  12. This is not true.
  13. I didn't know that the trigger on the P3AT was that bad--I was pleasantly suprised by it. In fact, a friend and I shot our P3ATs at IDPA targets at 35 yards one day and suprised ourselves. If only it wasn't a .380... As for the Glock subcompacts, I have a 27 and think it's the greatest carry gun ever made (but that's just me). HOWEVER, +1 on what someone above said--depends on your build and pants if it will work for pocket carry. I'm 5'10/190, and the 27 in my pocket makes everybody think I'm REALLY glad to see them, if you know what I mean
  14. Take it apart all you want--if you ship a frame/receiver, you are shipping a gun.
  15. Yeah, but most were before we were born.
  16. That's my point--Memphis decided to do this years ago and has been trying ever since, but the rest of the county will not let it happen.
  17. Never happen. Consolidation is talked about all the time, but all the suburbs just laugh. They can annex right up to a suburb's edge, but they can't annex into an established city. Some of the suburban city charters are probably older than the Memphis charter anyway.
  18. ???????? Elaborate?
  19. I wouldn't call myself "dedicated" to Memphis; I don't even live in Memphis. I'll someday leave, but it won't be for Nashville. I just don't think the step "up" is as high as many Nashville residents would have you believe.
  20. As if Nashville is a big improvement...
  21. I didn't watch it, but I did listen to it on 600 while cleaning a gun out in the garage. A C, Myron, Carpenter, Chumney, and even Lawler are serious candidates. The rest are along for the ride. Mongo made a total ass of himself with the bond rating question. "I wouldn't buy a bond from the city!" What a total d-bag. If 173 morons who voted for him had voted for Hackett instead back in 1992, we may have never had to live under King Willie.

  23. I jog in BDU shorts and carry a Smith 442 in a DeSantis pocket holster in my left front pocket (right front pocket for everybody else). I usually run 2-3 miles, and this setup works well for me.
  24. Congrats on the 27. Even with a +1 extension, it's still easier to conceal than a 23.
