  2. Most of the big shipping companies cover loss up to $100 with no extra charge. Additional coverage incurs a fee. I don't know how much your ammo was, but SG probably ate the cost of it minus $100. You may be fortunate that they refunded your money at all. They could have refunded you only $100, since you didn't purchase additional insurance. Some smaller companies will tell you it's between you and the shipping company. Ebay sellers are bad about this. I'm not saying this is right, but it happens every day.
  3. I don’t care to see Nichols getting pummeled, but I would be interested in bodycam or dashcam footage of whatever he was allegedly doing that got him stopped in the first place. I suspect we will see that on Dateline in 10 or 15 years.
  4. Along with gun, bullet, powder, charge, OAL, etc, write down the temperature (when chronographing). Some loads will slow down or speed up depending on the temperature.
  5. Apples and oranges. If drug users pull out drugs and start using them, that is illegal whether they are in your place of business or not (at least around here). If it becomes legal to use, I bet you can still ask them to leave. After all, there are “no smoking” “no drinking on premises” and “no shirt no shoes no service” signs. On the other hand, possession of a gun itself is not automatically a crime.
  6. I think that is essentially what the bill accomplishes as written. I would rather see resources and attention spent on this instead of, or at least before long gun carry. This needs to be in place BEFORE long gun carry is ever passed. After permitless carry passed, gunbuster signs went up all over the place. If long gun carry is passed and gangsters start strutting around Wal-Mart with AKs, I expect a BUNCH of businesses will post and the “removal of the offense” ship will have sailed forever.

I took my wife’s uncle for a ride in ours. He was about 6’2/325 and wore 30” length pants. He was basically a torso. His chin was flush with the top of the windshield.

We have had three and they absolutely sucked in this stuff. But I sure would like another one.

I confirmed that my driveway was still slippery yesterday morning
  10. This! On Jan 31, the ortho guy rebuilt my shoulder. Torn labrum, torn subscapularis tendon, ruptured long head bicep tendon, some bursitis-related bone spurs causing impingement in the acromion area. Lots of pain doing anything overhead or behind my back. Toward the end, I could barely get my wallet out of my back pocket. I did a LOT of PT, but can now do pain free pull-ups and can throw a football 25-30 yards (not that I have any need to). My only regret about the whole thing was waiting as long as I did. The "you should put off surgery as long as possible" theory isn't always true. If they are cleaning up impingements and not making heavy repairs to the big parts, you should bounce right back. Good luck!
  11. If I ever buy another deer rifle, it will be a Bergara Ridge B-14 6.5 Creedmoor. I’m a Bergara and a 6.5CM fanboy (sorry Handsome Rob). I like the B-14 and it’s already threaded. I could get a gunsmith to thread my A-Bolt, but I don’t trust anybody to do it and I don’t really want to monkey with the A-Bolt anyway. But my next deer hunting trip will include the .243 A-Bolt.

Light drizzle here and in our parking lot this morning I slipped on pavement that looked harmless. May be interesting this afternoon…
  13. Even though I haven’t deer hunted in years, I bought a Browning A-Bolt II in .243 a couple years ago. I’ve wanted a .243 for years and thought I was going deer hunting with a friend, but the trip fell through. The A-Bolt shoots pretty nice, but I haven’t put together any handloads yet. I’ve never had trouble finding a variety of factory hunting ammo. I have a freshly rebuilt shoulder that feels pretty good, but I may never shoot my .30-06 again. The little A-Bolt is handy and I would like to see how the .243 does on a deer.
  14. I don’t remember these alerts from the past, but today it said to delay using large appliances. But the climate cult people say we need to drive EVs and ban gas stoves.

If you seek adventure, take a Mazda Miata out in the snow and ice. I love Miatas, but they are death on wheels in this stuff.

I drove in 2wd this morning to see how bad it really was and to get an idea on how things would be for my wife a couple hours later in her FWD. i never felt the need to go to 4wd, but she ended up staying home.

Right - just because that lifted 4wd can drag race in the snow doesn’t mean it can stop.

Amen. I tested the roads last night because I planned to be at work today. I was going 30-35 on a narrow two lane road with a fairly sloped shoulder that I normally do 45-50 on (speed limit is 45) and a guy in an F-250 tailgates me through some curves and then blows by me on a double yellow solid line straightaway. Maybe it was an idiot teenager or somebody was in labor, but there was probably no need to go that fast on that road.

Folks around here in Jeeps and F-250s think they are in the Nascar Snowmobile Nationals.

I got a text from the utility company urging me to conserve energy to reduce strain on the electrical grid. Any politician opposed to more domestic natural gas production and consumption should go to jail.

17F here but the sun is out, which means there will be a little melting, which will turn to ice when the sun goes down. May be worse tomorrow morning than it was this morning. Ya’ll stay safe.

Yeah Friday morning may be a lot worse than what we have now.
  23. If you go with a Wilson, be prepared to be on hold for a half hour any time you need to talk to someone. If I had 3k to spend on a 1911, I would save half of it and get a Dan Wesson.
  24. Ha ha! And if you’re wearing a full blast USPSA rig, try not to bump the timer on your holster or mag pouches when you move it to your back.
  25. I gently ride the slide so the d-bag who holds the timer six inches from your gun doesn’t add four seconds to your raw time because he also picked up the ULSC.
