  1. Theft of $435 of merchandise would be a misdemeanor charge. If convicted, she would probably do no time, depending on her past. I think her hands should be cut off.
  2. Actually, the OP should have the right to comment on who should or shouldn't post responses to his request for help if he gets this type of crap. He asked a simple question, but got everything from people calling him a lawbreaker to a jab about buying foreign. Thread drift is one thing, but smartass comments to the OP that are not related to the thread are another. Who said he will break the law, anyway? Perhaps he plans to do a lot of stop-and-go driving on private property with his Accord.
  3. Where did you work/live? It sounds like you would have a problem in any city which you lived. If the OP works in Gallaway and lives in an eastern suburb, he won't have to deal with much "stuff." On the other hand, I am constantly aware of the fact that anything can happen anywhere, any time--Memphis, Nashville, Franklin, Bristol, Trenton, Gatlinburg, or BFE.
  4. Beware of Fayette County schools. Living in eastern Shelby County, such as Bartlett, Lakeland, or Arlington, you should be fine with a decent drive to work. Tipton County to the north is not far, although it's a bit desolate until you go to the west side of the county. Don't listen to all the "I wouldn't live there for $300k a year" BS. Yes, it's bad in certain areas, but it's not much worse that many other big cities (Nashville comes to mind).
  5. Wow, no respect for the .40.
  6. I disagree. Fleece vests are everywhere during winter, but not everyone is packing.
  7. True enough if you're Clark Griswald, but TV doesn't do the canyon justice if you hike across it.
  8. My father worked there in the 80s. The labor climate must have changed--he said when it was contract season, everyone griped about what they were going to lose or give up with the next contract. Meanwhile, they couldn't produce tires fast enough. He was no union fanatic, but he thought it was silly that the employees would bend over and give up pay or benefits when the company was begging them to work overtime.
  9. Not true. Honda usede to brag about their cars being built in Ohio, I think. Toyota went out of their way to point out that my 06 Tacoma was made in California. It had a Japanese-made gas pedal, which was not included in the gas pedal recall. Guess where those were made?? My 02 Ranger had a sticker on the side of the engine that said MADE IN COLOGNE, GERMANY. How do we define an American-made car?
  10. They already are. Ever seen one of those "No shirt, no shoes-no service" signs?
  11. +1 The second amendment and the Constitution apply to the government, not private companies. Stores that opt out are following the letter of the law.
  12. this site is lousy for buying guns--everything interesting is always on the other side of the state!
  13. +1 I put over 600 FMJs through mine before firing the first hollow point. All FMJs were flawless. If you want something done to it, I would call Springfield--they will cover all costs, plus, they may work on your chamber, too.
  14. +100 The STI Trojan is the best $999 1911 available. An extra $300 will get you hard chrome, which is a stainless-color bullet-proof finish.
  15. MSSA near Memphis: 1st Saturday-Steel Challenge 1st and 3rd Sundays-USPSA 2nd and 4th Saturdays-IDPA 3rd Saturday-3 gun
  16. Back when I was much younger, I used to do AC & heating. Spend 8-10 hours in the attic on a day like today. I remember coming downstairs and going outside when it was 98. I remember thinking, "What a beautiful day it is out here!" 98 in the sun literally felt awesome. Now I sit in an air conditioned office, but I still sweat.
  17. See ya there. I'll be the lefty that is bitching about how major/minor is BS.
  18. Everyone can't be judged by the same measure. A 105 pound 16 year old girl who has never sipped alcohol will be affected differently by one beer than a 275 pound alcoholic would be. Someone with a tolerance for alcohol may in fact not be significantly impaired at .12; on the other hand, a rookie may be blasted at .04. .08 doesn't always tell the whole story. Thus we have the other factors that officers consider.
  19. I am still waiting for all the dog lovers who wet their pants every time someone mentions shooting an attacking dog to come to the defense of the cats. Where are they now?
  20. One beer or glass of wine can get you a DUI. It doesn't matter if you're "sloppy drunk" or unaffected--the cop decides if you go to jail or not. .08 BAC is only one factor the cop considers. Just because you are not .08 does not mean the cop simply lets you go. Too many people fail to grasp this. I'm with Fallguy--if you are worried about whether or not you should be carrying, you should also be worrying about whether or not you should drive.
  21. I have a dremel tool, but I have a feeling I won't need it.
  22. Hope you never make it past jury selection.
  23. Kel-Tecs are not top-of-the-line guns, but I wouldn't call a Kel-Tec a POS. Perhaps some operator error was at play.
  24. I've been happy with my Kel-Tec.
