  1. Me and a buddy picked two of these up today. When I saw them I remembered this thread and thought it would be fun to have, then he quoted us a price if we bought both. So we walked out with one each. Just need a few extra mags and some time to shoot. Hopefully tomorrow. Verne

    30rd AR Mags

I got the last two H&K's. The owner said he had over 20 a week ago. The price on the GI's didn't seem bad but I have no clue what they go for. It is a local place for me so I will help support them. Verne

    30rd AR Mags

Out at Shadow Warrior in Hartsville, TN they have a bunch of used GI mags with green followers starting at $12 or $14 and new ones around $22. Don't know if that is good are bad but he also had some brand new H&K's for $35 a piece.
  4. Probably going to go and pick them both up. For that price why not. One is in a little rough shape but nothing major. Slightly scratched stock is all. Just needs some TLC, tap for a scope and the end of the barrel thread. Then it will be good to go for me. Verne
  5. Another question: Do all Savage Mark II's have the accu-trigger or just specific models? I came across 2 Savage Mark II's yesterday with synthetic stock and standard barrels for $69 a piece. Also from what I can find they do not make a heavy barrel upgrade unless you buy one with a heavy barrel. So if you find a stock heavy barrel would it fit onto a standard configured receiver? Thanks again, Verne

    Cougar

I was up at Deal Gap (The Dragon) last year for a bike rally. I was coming back from the dinner at Fontana Village heading towards Robbinsville, NC on HWY 28 around 11pm. I was staying at the Dragon Resort. About 3 miles from the Cross Roads, along the lake, the bike I was following serves to the center of the road and cranks on the throttle. As I get up to where this happened I see a very large animal. I know what a bobcat looks like and know that it wasn't one. It was cougar/mountain lion or what ever you want to call it. It just looked at me as I passed by like I was his neighbor. Not exactly TN but close enough for me to believe they are around in certain parts. Verne
  7. Now if I can found a used one? Might have to hit up some places this weekend and see what I come across. Thanks again guys.
  8. I'm a Juvenile diabetic. Sorry been one for almost 28 years and use to saying it that way instead of Type I. I am on an insulin pump and have been for almost 8 years. Before that anywhere from 2 to 6 shots a day. I don't remember what it is like to not be one, since I was diagnosed at 3 years old, so I am usually not much help to people who found out later in life they were diabetic. It is not bad with current technology. I am much better with the pump than I was taking shots but I still hate it. At the same time it is more convenient also. Imagine sleeping with a pager 24/7. I do about anything I want but there are limits. And if you cross the line your body will make you pay. If you have an specifics you can ask. I'm not very good with general questions. Verne
  9. Thanks! That is a lot more info than I have been able to come up with. I wanting one threaded for the Mite. Verne
  10. Who all makes one? Looking for one to plink with. I know CZ has one and I believe Marlin has one also but don't know model #'s or anything about them. Anyone have some insight? Ones to look at ones to stay away from. Thanks, Verne
  11. Verne

    Took the plunge.

Guess I should have said cheaper. Don't need highend but want stuff that will hold up and last. Yeah I know you get what you pay for and that makes the circle complete. Going to be watching for good deals. Verne
  12. Took a buddy of mine down to Hero Gear last Saturday (Yeah I'm dragging but in posting). While there I bit the bullet and picked up a stripped Tactical Innovations lower for my AR build. I would like to think the guys at Hero Gear for the insight and suggestions. It was greatly appreciated. This will be my first AR. Wanted to pick up a complete weapon but with the Indy MotoGP race tying up most of my extra money and wanting one before election time, just in case, I decided this was the best option. Plus I like knowing how things go together and work. What better way then putting the whole thing together. Now is the fun part of deciding what I want to go with it. 2 Stage trigger, fire control, good stock, quad rail and multiple uppers. Hey it does say Multi Caliber on the side, so why not. Am I forgetting anything? Looking to build it on the cheap but not skimp. I want a shooter and don't need alot of bells and whistles, even though it will end up with some. So on to a pic!!!
  13. Is it legal to own a M203? I have seen them at gun show and shops. Would it require a tax stamp? I know the ammo is an issue but I thought I had seen a shot shell for one. Just think of the fun you could have with a 30mm shotgun shell. Verne
  14. Heck I'm across Airport Rd. everyday too. If you see the Red SuperHawk say hi. Can't miss the some what loud V-Twin. Verne
  15. I didn't mean for this to turn in to a debate if someone should get involved or not. I now people on both sides who are very devout on their stand and I have no problem with that. I don't care a bit for nascar, would rather have dental work done, but have several friends who live and breath it. That is what is great about this country, Freedom of Choice. Masonry is not for everyone. Things inside Masonry are not always for your regular Blue Lodge Masons. On a side note, If we controlled the world I would have a better interest on my l loans and a better job but having a say in the weather is nice. LOL Thank you, Verne
  16. I have heard of some of the larger lodges having meetings during the day for those who work nights. Don't know this for sure though.
  17. Have to say MemphisMason has put it better then I ever have. As for attendance, Hartsville lodge is a small old lodge. On stated meeting night we have around 8 or 10 people there. Total on the rolls is only around 70. But any Brother I know would do almost any to help some one. Mason or not. We like to say "We make a Good man better". There is so much history behind it which fascinates me. While researching some of my family members that were Masons I found the lodge they belonged to in Indiana is Lodge number 1 and was a Lodge before Indiana was a state just a territory. The history there is vast. I am also a member of the Scottish Rite but no the Shrine. I have worked the paper sale every year since I was fourteen but one. Some day I will go through the Shrine but for now I have to much going on to commit to it but I will still work the paper sale every year. My two best friends were who got me involved. It was a great experience. My best friend, who pasted away the year after he was master, was the youngest Master of a lodge at the age of 25. A great man, friend and mason was lost in him. A have watched more than once this man remove his short and give to some one. He is one reason I am so active in it. Bro. Verne Deckard
  18. Just curiosity. I am Master of Hartsville Lodge #113 and be installed Master at age 29 was a great accomplishment for me. I have seen others on here and just wanted to say Hi. Thank you, Bro. Verne Deckard #113
  19. I have the one my dad owned. It will never to be sold. It was made in 1956 and I still shot it. Probably going to take it out here in a little bit and put some rounds through it. Verne
  20. Browning Hi-Power. But that is just my opinion and not worth that much. Verne
  21. I found this on Gunbroker http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=89875025 Hopefully this will work for it. I will be giving you a call to talk specifics. Now I just need my 1099 to show up so I can file everything and get this going. Thank you, Verne
  22. Thanks guys. One other question. I know you have to have a chief law officer sign off on the BATF form. I know a County Sheriff qualifies but what about a Judge? Neither is a big deal. I live in a small town where you know everyone. It is just easier to find the judge than the sheriff. Verne
  23. I'm wanting one. And with the tax man sending money back my way what better to spend some of it on. Just have to wait on the BATF stamp to get back. So maybe more a late B-day present by the time it gets here. I'm going to be getting this for my .22 cal. S&W model 422. What I'm looking for are dealers that handle suppressors in the the Nashville area? Thank you, Verne

    Ruger Mini-14

I thought all the detachable mag SK's were converted ones. Will give them another look. Thanks for all the info. Verne
