  1. I didnt see a suggestion to destroy evidence. That would be bad advice. But closing the window and locking the door seems OK to me. Less chance of Officer Friendly "catching a whiff" of something and using that as probable cause.
  2. Sure, go ahead and dis that set up. You are only revealing your own ignorance and stupidity. Every one of those devices is tactically sound and fits into an over all plan for survival. If you think you don't need all that, then you might as well lie down and die right now. Because when it hits the fan and the sit rep reads "Tango Uniform" you'll be damn glad someone with vastly superior experience and tactical mindset pointed you in the right direction.
  3. Like everything else there's a trade-off. The bigger the grips the easier the gun is to shoot. But the harder it is to conceal and carry. Which was the point of getting the gun in the first place. <y 642 has the stock plastic grips on it. My Bodyguard has some cool wood grips. But I never carry the Bodyguard.
  4. Wrong. There is no database and searching records of out of business gun dealers by hand would be expensive and take a long time.
  5. What's the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? The position of the dirt bag. Nice toys. Glad to see they weren't any more "adult" than that.
  6. Anyone ever see this guy? Sure looks like he knows what he's doing. [ame] [/ame]
  7. The one on my side is pretty well useless while in the car as my not inconsiderable bulk makes getting to it tough. I am carrying a BHP in the center console with an extra mag there too. The BHP has one in the chamber but hammer is not cocked. I am just not comfortable leaving it in there with the hammer cocked and on safe. It also barely fits. Anyone have suggestions? ZenDog, what is that thing called? Looks like something I'd like to check out.
  8. Now if they would just apply those same principles to the economic realm we might have something to talk about. I am currently reading David Horowitz's book about the Left and its involvement with Islamo-fascism. It is an amazing read about the various connections, historical, financial, and philosophical, between and among the current "anti war" and "anti global" mindset and the old Communist Party.
  9. I just dont see much purpose in ceding my Constitutional rights right off the bat. If the cop has probably cause, then he doesnt need my permission to search my car. If he doesnt then how is he going to convince a magistrate to issue a search warrant? I;m going to be polite but not especially helpful.
  10. Bah, humbug. I say we embrace the term, just like we did with "EBR". I tell people I carry an "assault revolver."

    Which 9mm to buy?

Jiminez Arms is producing some of the baddest, meanest, most tactical 9mm guns out there. For the price of a Block you could get 3 Jiminez Arms guns as backups.
  12. It was more like 30 years between the Colt Dick/Agent/Cobra etc and the Chiefs. Smith did produce a "Terrier" in .32S&W long prior to the Chiefs. THe biggest issue with the Colts was/is the cost to manufacture. Each gun has to be hand fitted. In the days when you could pay a tech $10 a week to do that the guns made sense. When labor became expensive the advantage ceased. THe last time they produced the Python it was over $900 while the comparable Smith 686 was probably $550. While the Python is arguably a better gun (and I would argue the point) it sure isnt twice as good.
  13. Technically yes. The "J-frame" designation is a Smith product. But since Taurus is or started as a total ripoff of Smith I think it is fair to call them "J frame" or J frame size" guns as well. The Colt Dick and its clones are a D frame I think.
  14. SUperintendent of Nashville Schools? WTF?? There is no effing way I would permit that if it were anywhere in my power. I had a customer who had worked with DEA in Memphis. He told me they had good info he was involved with and profited from drug syndicates. They referred the findings over the Reno Justice Dept and were told "he's a Black mayor in a Democratic city in an election year. THere's no way we're going to prosecute him." No, you guys in Memphis are stuck with him.
  15. I'm always torn on this point. The state constitution gives us a right to bear arms. If it requires a permit then it isnt a right anymore. OTOH I think the permit course is very valuable because it does teach stuff that people would just be unlikely to go learn on their own. Look at how many misconceptions are aired here, by people who have taken it. The permit also tends to separate the good guys from the bad. The good guys have permits, the bad guys dont. I know thats a generalization but sometimes that's all you've got. I wouldnt mind a system like VA, where anyone can open carry but concealed requires a permit.
  16. Probably because they are the cheapest. Smith has been discounting them for some time now. You basically have the following choices: 1) Style a) Chiefs Special. The original config, with exposed hammer. Named because it was introd at the chiefs convention in 1954 or so. Bodyguard. Shrouded hammer, can still be cocked. c) Centennial. No external hammer. Named because it was intro'd at the company's centennial. 2) Material. a) Blued steel. The original. A 2-digit designation, i.e. Model 36 Stainless steel. Designated with a 6 at the beginning, e.g. 640 c) Airweight. d) Scandium 3) Caliber a) .38 spc. .357mag c) .22LR and WMR. Occasionally you'll see one in .32 H&R mag and they are great guns. There was a freak of a snub based on an L frame chambered in .44spc that are deservedly rare. SO the different model designations are just combos of all of the above factors.
  17. That;s the thing. Since you have no control over their editing, they can do anything. Notice the scenes of Sen Jackson skeet shooting and how they interposed them with hotdogs, etc getting blowed up real good. I'm sure he had no idea they were going to do that. And of course the editor never responded to my email. I'm sure it wasnt the first one like that they've seen.
  18. Absolutely!
  19. Always deal in cash.
  20. Len, maybe you know. I was always under the impression that Easter could never fall out before Passover. But this year obviously it does (Passover is a month hence). Part of that may be because we had a leap year this year and so an extra month in our calender. But I dont know.
  21. There's actually a requirement to drink to the point where you can't tell the difference between Bless Mordechai and Curse Haman. The Talmud tells a story about 2 rabbis who visited each other every year for Purim. One year they got really drunk and one of them up and killed the other. When he sobered up and realized what he had done he was heartbroken and begged G-d to restore the man's life. G-d did so. The next year he invited the revived man back for a meal like they always did and he told him, "we don't rely on miracles" and never went back.
  22. Fine. Have it your way. It's mon. Depending on where you come from its mun. But if I wrote "mon-filled" no one would have a clue.
  23. Call to make sure I'm there. Being a holiday I am not sure when I'll get here and how sober I'll be.
  24. Tonight/tomorrow is the holiday of Purim. If you arent sure what that is, break out your "Old Testament" and review the Book of Esther. Anyway, a traditional treat is the hamentaschen, which is a cookie filled with something, usually poppy seed. Members of TGO are invited to come by the shop and sample my wife's. Both poppy seed and marzipan.
  25. Not so. I believe Harry Reid has a 100% rating from NRA. Larry Craig is a HUGE supporter of the 2A, which is a shame because of the scandal. Speaking of which, how can Craig be on the list because he likes to blow guys in the john but Ted Kennedy who pulled a chain on a waitress in a restaurant isnt?
