Because they work better for more people than any other gun. I'm not going to argue they are ideal (they aren't). But if you look at the combination of factors, size, weight, capacity, caliber, availability of mags, holsters, etc, ease of shooting, you'll see that more people will find it a comfortable gun than is the case with any other. If someone walked in and asked for a semi but didnt know anything at all about guns, that would probably be the one I would sell him.

Actually my AR is chambered in .223Wylde You would be amazed at what I know. You would be equally amazed at what I don't know. On a good day I can tell a sxs vs an o/u shotgun....

.357mag is a lousy car gun choice. The noise and blast would deafen anyone in the car. The others arent mild either, but .357 is too much.

I've never seen it because a) not too many people carry revolvers anymore and that requires extra rounds in loops on the belt. That isnt a bad idea, just not one I've seen. As for cylinder turn, Colts move clockwise, Smiths and Rugers counterclockwise. I learned always load in the opposite direction of cylinder movement, for just the reason you mention.

Wholesale on the Springfields runs from 4-450, depending on model etc. Thats what the dealer could get a brand new one for. If he buys it/trades it, he has to stick it in his case and hope the right buyer comes by. The gun could sit there for months (ask me about my green XD .45 sometime) and in the end he might have to sell it at a loss. You, otoh, will have to find the right buyer at the right price. You are limited mostly to your circle of friends and acquaintances (includeing us folks here). You might never find a buyer at the price you want. So you are basically paying the dealer to do the work that you cannot or arent willing to do. How much that is worth to the dealer and you is an individual decision. I know some guns I am much more likely to trade closer to wholesale on than others. A Glock 19 is almost always in demand. A Kimber isn't unless I can just steal it and then offer it at a good price. Someone pitched me a Rohrbaugh once. Nice gun but the market for $1,000 .380s is just a tad thin and I passed on it.

Yeah. You go stand in front of that guy with your uber-tactical plastic sissy-gun. THe only thing I wonder about is the position of the gun as he reloads. MY understanding (from Ed Lovette) is that it is better if the gun is pointed straight down, allowing gravity to help seat the bullets. I was impressed not so much with his speed but his competance in handling the gun. With some practice anyone should be able to get similar results.

I think I need to keep some around in case I'm attacked by a watermelon. More seriously, a watermelon is not a good substitute for human skin, bone, flesh and fat. So it doesnt look like much of a test (although it was fun to watch). And at the prices they want for it I would be loath to put the necessary 2-3 magazines minimum through my gun to test feeding and performance. The Glaser Safety Slugs were developed for pretty much the same thing, shooting people in projects. They had a nasty tendency to fragment (that's what they were designed to do) and fail to penetrate adequately.

People who are stupid are stupid, regardless of laws. Look at the thread on the Colbert Report and see Steelharp's comment. There are gun is bars every night of the week. And very seldom does harm come from it. The people who are responsible will continue to be responsible. The people who are idiots will continue to be idiots. No law yet has prevented stupidity. And permit holders have shown themselves overwhelmingly to be responsible people. That is a fact we have to pound over and over again. The number of crimes committed by holders is miniscule compared to every other segment of the population.

I dont know who this guy is and unfortunately I can't understand the audio. But he clearly knows what he's doing with a Smith 686 2 1/2". Notice the cool-o tac reloads. I never would have thought of doing it that way. [ame] [/ame]

Come over to the dark side, Dotsun. Repeat after me, "a real gun is a wheel gun."

Thanks. I figured +P fmj in the hi power would do the trick for those pesky protected targets. I can also stack the ammo in the mags, first round jhp, subsequent rounds fmj etc.

Fifth Sunday IDPA-lite Shoot For TGO Members
The Rabbi replied to The Rabbi's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
We'd welcome someone with more experience and skill than the rest of us. That's how we learn. -
Could you be more specific as to what the round does that others do not, and why you chose to carry it?
-
Yeah. And anything with the word extreme in it. That applies to anything, btw,not just ammo.
-
You've just cited the one example that contradicts your thesis. The guy in KNoxville was an instructor for permit carry. But that didnt prevent Officer Friendly from disarming him and cuffing him. Back on topic: this cries out for a test case. Someone would need to arrange with his favorite Metro officer to be charged etc and then take the mess to court. Would also need to create a legal defense fund etc. ANd I know no one wants to volunteer for this, me included.

I have been using a CZ52 for a car gun for some time, for all the reasons people have car guns. Some time ago when I shot it the hammer did not lock back when it cycled. I think its the sear spring and thought I had fixed it on Sun. I hadnt. Anyway, I recently also came into posesssion of an Argentine Browning HiPower. Someone had done some work to it: it has an Ashley Big Dot front sight and the mag disconnect has been removed. I had never shot a HiPower before so took it out. Aside from a trigger reset issue the gun was a blast to shoot. Even with +P ammo recoil was minimal. It really is testament to the genius of Mr Browning, a lot nicer gun than his earlier failed 1910 or whatever he called the model. So I wonder: do I replace the CZ with the HiPower or not? The HP packs more rounds. Setting one off in the car will be unpleasant, but not worse than the CZ, which puts out quite a fireball. I got the CZ in part because the 7.62 round will go through most things automotive, but the +P 9mm will probably do OK against sheet metal as well. Thoughts?

Nah, it's just an innocent little cute bunny rabbit.....

Or .223 Wylde.
-
For some reason "ouch" and "fun to shoot" just dont go together in my book. I am too old to enjoy a gun that's gonna hurt me.
-
Ditto. They called me to become a dealer and I checked out the comments. Customer service got generally high marks. Production quality generally sucked. I passed on carrying them.

Time to help some fellow gun-owners!

Look, its Cook County. It wouldnt matter if they had a referendum at the ballot that won 90% of the vote. If the machine doesnt want it, it wont happen.
