We have 13 spots left as of today. -
Right. You absolutely can buy a gun and give it to someone (Christmas present, etc) as long as the recipient is not prohibited from being able to own the gun. This guy did not get turned down for being a journalist....he got turned down for for being a known douche bag wife beater with an alcohol problem.

TN democrat party gun control survey
Cruel Hand Luke replied to Hershmeister's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The answer I put on why I didn't think there would be any meaningful legislation passed this year..... There is not time left in the year for Congress to fashion a bill that would protect both civil liberties and do anything useful to address the real problem. Simply banning certain types of guns is not a panacea and would have little effect on crime.....we did that in the 90s and it had little effect.... So now many - even Democrats- view that with a skeptical eye and feel that banning guns at a time when we are under attack by terrorists is a foolish feel good measure that will have no effect on safety. -
Since most non military "social purposes" fights in the US are LESS than 25 yards, the accuracy is more than you'll ever need (even a 4" at 100 yd gun is a 1" at 25 yard gun), the mag holds more than you'd likely ever shoot (most civilian use of rifle goes less than 4 rounds) , the sights are simple and are a notch and post like your pistol , the 7.62x39 HP, SP and plastic tipped hunting bullets (like CorBon,Winchester, Hornady, Federal, etc) are all accurate and perform well on people sized game, and the AK will still run when it is filthy if you are not very fastidious about cleaning your gun and an $89 ultimak allows you to mount an aimpoint micro without changing the balance of the gun if you feel the need for an optic.

The "Average" gunowner is just that...average. Much like the "average lawn mower owner", "average car owner" or "average golfer". They know a little , think they know more than they do, don't really care to be better informed, and don't really give it much thought. They own guns like I own a hammer....just in case of emergency but I have no desire to build things and it wouldn't bother me if I never had to hammer a nail into anything ever again. Others own it like most people own golf clubs...to play once or twice a year with their buddies, complaining the whole time about how bad they play and the rest of the time the clubs sit in the closet and the average golfer neither cares about getting better at the sport and certainly does not want to invest the practice time to actually get better. Like most people the "average gun owners" cruise through life concerned more with "keeping up with the Joneses" and keeping ahead of their credit card bills each month than with how their rights are affected by political decisions in Nashville or Washington. They think the President "makes laws" , think "the government" is trying to "take their guns" and want to make sure that before "the government" does that they can make sure they get all the "bullets" , "clips", AR15s, whatever they will ever need "while they still can" , and at the same time thinks the NRA is just a nebulous group of telemarketers and mail marketers out to get more money or a boogeyman that supports terrorists, white supremacists and crack addicts having machine guns ...yet they don't understand how continually mindlessly voting for the same candidates who their union tells them to vote for actually brings them closer to that whole "government taking your guns away" actually happening.... and they cant understand why it is the party they keep voting for that keeps trying to pass the laws that will limit what guns and ammo they can buy..... They think a magazine is a "clip", a semi auto firearm is an "automatic", think "bullets" are what you call cartridges, think "Heads" is what you call bullets (or slugs...thank you TV cop shows), think "Smith and Western" is the brand name of the revolver they inherited from their grand father, think "bulk" is some buzz word that some how makes 1000 rounds of "bulk" ammo different than 1000 rounds of "regular" ammo (OK, but is it "bulk"?) , think "knock down power" is a real thing, think everything they see on TV cop shows with regards to firearms , firearm laws, use of force and gunhandling is correct, and think that because they "grew up around guns " they know all they will ever need to know. Well .....I grew up around electricity and I flip light switches on and off every day.....that does NOT make me an electrician by osmosis.... That is why nationwide about 4% of people have permits to carry , only about 1% carry on a regular basis and why only about 1/10 of that number take any additional training classes after their permit class. There are plenty of people who OWN guns that are not "Gun Nuts", or even "Gun people" and certainly not competent gun carriers....and frankly....most of them are OK with that....they just do not care. In fact SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Manufacturers Institute ) thinks that about 25% of firearms purchased are never even fired. So what we sometimes view as typical ...or "average" might be average within our particular peer group but it is in no way indicative of society (or gun owners) at large.
-
Or make them make an even tougher choice.....you say you want a gun ban.......then stop illegal immigration...as long as the borders are porous and middle easterners keep getting brought in unvetted then there will be NO new gun laws and the laws become void if illegal immigration starts up again .

Cruel Hand Luke replied to Cruel Hand Luke's topic in Training Discussions
A firm understanding of muzzle and finger discipline, solid gunhandling skills (being able to load, unload and draw from a holster and reholster without pointing it at yourself or others) and that is about it. I will cover a review of the basics at the beginning while we have daylight to get everyone on the same page, but as long as you are safe with your gunhandling you should be fine. -

How about this.... 1. Do you think people should be able to give away or sell their own personal property without asking the government for permission (if so you DON'T believe in universal background checks). 2. Do you believe that it is OK for the Govt to deny people their constitutional rights without due process? (If not then you DON'T believe in keeping people on the TSA no fly list from buying a gun) 3. Do you believe in the fundamental right of every man woman and child to defend themselves from unlawful violence? If you answered no you are an idiot. If you answered yes then go to 3B.... 3B. If so then do you believe that the old, infirm, physically weak should be able to efficiently and effectively defend themselves from younger bigger , stronger multiple attackers? If so then you are NOT anti gun becasue semi auto fire arms with standard capacity magazines is the best way for weaker victims to defend themselves from multiple attackers. 4. Do you believe only the govt and police should have firearms? If so you are NOT "anti gun"....you are anti freedom, and pro totalitarianism and an enabler of mass genocide. You believe that ordinary people INCLUDING YOURSELF do not have the common sense or ability to safely handle and use inanimate objects without accidentally (or maliciously) hurting others. As such only people who are employed by the state somehow are given special powers that other people do not have to somehow make them "safe" to possess these "evil" objects. The problem is historically that when only the government has them...the government ceases to be subservient to the people and you see genocide and ethnic cleansing like Cuba, Cambodia, USSR, Germany, the former Yugoslavia Etc......

BACK BY OVERWHELMING DEMAND WE WILL BE OFFERING THIS CLASS AGAIN IN OCTOBER. THIS ONE FILLED UP LAST TIME SO DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO SIGN UP. THIS DATE WAS CHOSEN SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE IT IS AN OFF WEEKEND FOR TENNESSEE FOOTBALL FOR THOSE THAT IS IMPORTANT TO. HOPE TO SEE YOU IN CLASS. Fight At Night : Defensive Concepts for Dark Environments Date: Saturday October 22 Time: 4PM - 11PM Location: The Ridge Dayton TN. (http://www.theridgeshooting.com/) Price $180 cash or check. ($90 Deposit to hold spot / balance due night of class). Instructor: Randy Harris This rarely offered class will cover some critical skills which include shooting with and without the help of flashlights in low or no light. We will work both proactively challenging unknown potential threats and also reacting to unexpected close range attacks in low light settings. You will see just how much light you really need to accurately shoot by and how much light you actually need to ID targets. We will also cover manipulating the pistol in the dark both with and without a light in our hands. We will load , unload and clear malfunctions with and without flashlights. A fair amount of time will also be devoted to using the flashlight as a tool to help you get deselected in the "pre fight interview" , use the light as a distraction device and impact weapon, and as a bridge from less lethal to lethal force. Range Gear and requirements : Handheld flashlight (Surefire 6P, G2, Streamlight Scorpion or similar). Extra batteries. Pistol and holster designed to be worn on the belt. Two spare mags (3 total minimum) and a mag pouch. Range Safety gear (eye and ear protection) . Clothing appropriate for weather. Snacks and drinks. Ammo: Approximately 250 rounds. If you have a weapon mounted light for your pistol and want to use it for some drills then please bring it too. If your carry pistol has a light that is fine too just make sure it fits your holster. If you have a "blue gun" or airsoft gun and training knife or inert "trainer" pepper spray you want to bring feel free to do so. We will be doing some interactive exercises where students will play the role of both good guys and bad guys to get a better feel for just what each experiences when the techniques are applied in low light. If you don't see it from both sides you only know about half of what is going on. A $90 deposit will hold a spot for you in this class. Balance due at class. You are also welcome to pay in full in advance too. We are limiting it to 16 students so you might want to get your deposit in soon. To register or for more info either PM me here at TGO or email me at Cruelhandluke2000@yahoo.com. Hope to see you there! A huge thanks to AJ (GotTheGoods) for providing the place and to Prag for helping facilitate the class and to everyone who attended who came out and braved the rain (which was minimal) and worked hard on skills that just are not taught many places. Hopefully this will change some preconceived notions about what a likely criminal assault might look like and what skills actually are needed to deal with them. Training with former Delta dudes in full kit doing team drills is cool but learning how to keep from getting stabbed and how to foul an assailant's draw and perform a disarm are far more useful skills for the armed citizen than doing bounding over watch or center peels. I will be offering this class again later this year so keep an eye out for the announcement. -

Al (ghost dog) call me at 423 8279133 !!! -
This whole thing is highly suspect. If it is a Glock then they are not "cocked" while at rest. The trigger being pressed is what pulls the striker rearward and the cruciform dropping out of the way then releases it allowing it to move forward. Something would have had to pull the striker (firing pin) to the rear ,disengaging the internal safeties , and compressing the striker spring, disengaging the firing pin safety (which keeps it from moving forward unless the trigger is pressed) and dropping the cruciform off the ledge, releasing the striker to make it fire. The cruciform cannot get out of the way to allow it go forward until it is pushed all the way to the rear and the firing pin safety is disengaged by rearward trigger movement. That is how they work. The trigger has to be pulled to fire it....
