just a note, but remember it does make a difference were you shoot at. if you shoot in a large open area it is hard (to me anyway) to even heard the bullet going thru the sound barrier. but in wooded area's it will seem loud or does to me.

do not know yet, not looking real good right now. damn sure need the shotgun work.

the lady also says that the lodge is already fully booked for that weekend!

yes, we hope you make it, it was kinda odd to be big at a big match without seeing you there somewhere, even cloudy looked lost.

WOW! i guess this really does prove, it is whatever works for you and are happy with!!!! all of our AR's but 1 is set up just the opposite of yours! the buffers has all but 1 weight removed ( used a ink pen cap to take up the extra space) low mas carriers or had the carriers machined for weight loss, but we use the arrodondo brake! if we shoot a woods walk style stage the wife loads up 5.56 for the flames flying out the break in the shade of the trees. a friend of mines son wanted to try my AR on a house stage and i told him not to use the 5.56 that him and his dad brought. but being 15 he knew best! on a tight corner he burnt his hand from the blast. My 20" is my precision gun, the buffer is packed full of the heaviest weights i had. a heavy young carrier, 20% extra power tubbs sring, with the gas block tighten so it has to be used suppressed and then it will still not cycle 223, 5.56 only to keep it locked up as long as possible. but back to subject of a barrel on a budget. the wife has a TAC-2 brief case AR that breaks down to fit inside a standard breifcase or lap top case. it has a YHM barrel it came with a 1 x 9 twist with the standard YHM fancy cuts at a low price, and with the 60 V-Max it is a tack driver. that's even with a barrel that is removed from the reciever each time it is put away. and goes together and fires in less than 30 seconds!. but the barrel finish is awful, i guess that is where they cut cost. but a trip to wilson combat and it is gorgeous! but YHM has limited options like no 18".

woo hoo loved it, even with all the hell i caught for shooting am.

thanks, like i said just wondering, a friend of had a 1 x 8 20" which shot the 68 great, but was unhappy with the groups with anything heavier. and he has not had another since. i myself zero at 50 with my heavy-long range ammo then make anycorrections at 200. then shoot the 55 grain 223 ammo for almost everything to 100. for me the 5.56 (XM 193) has to much recoil and blast unless i got a super deal on it. about the only time i check "zero" used loosely for the 55 is before we go to David's match at brocks gap, is to make sure we can hit a 3 x 5 card at 5 yards and at 30. and he will have you from almost feet to 280 yards. for anyone it what works for them and what they are happy with.

i started out with a fulton upper. the only reason i do have one now is at the time anyway they did carry what i was looking for. just curouis but why a 1 x 8 for 3 gun? i know that 99% of the time you (well i do) use the cheapest ammo (55 grain, no steel case for me) you can get, but when you need to shoot 300-400 i want to use a nice heavy (long) bullet. 75-77 grain.

i do know that they provided the piston system for Sabre, before Sabre went down. at rockcastle we got use a Sabre full auto with the Adams Arms piston system. no issues for us anyway. if it makes a difference each shooter provided there own ammo. also i do not know were CMMG gets there's but at the Pro/Am the 7" full auto piston gun was one hell of a flame thrower.

i have the W.O.A. barrel 18" 1 x 7 rifle length gas system and the 20' DESIGNATED marksman 1 x 7. very happy with both i have shot the 20" to 800 and is not a 3 gun set-up. but i do have the 18" for 3 gun, which i am still getting use to. i have always used a 16" or less. that extra 2" makes it so very long to me. just can not understand why women are so worried about that! it not really a picture of the gun but in gear section under a weaver scope ad you can get a idea of it. thanks to magiccarpetride ( sorry if not spelled right) also i guess you know that rainer arms is the sole distributor of white oak.

Night Match is for all current MCTS Members only and their guests. Divisions: Handheld / Weapons mounted / Weapon mounted light with Laser i see you are trying to all rifraf out! dont worry i will be working nights for what it is worth i think a light and laser division is a good idea. i did also mention this to the tiger team. and good job not using that four letter word. i believe that people should let the tiger know what you think. just my 2 cents but i think the the IDPA (the four letter word) should consider that today alot of people at home will have a weapons light and/or laser on there home gun, be it a handgun or long gun. using a laser for both of us a hard thing to do. because if you are looking down the sights it is easy to lose the laser, you have make a effort to hold the gun low (so you are looking above the sights) to use the laser. -
wow! the only reason i even anything about about is that my local dealer added a small rubber stamp place asking if have bought a hand gun in the last XX number of days. but what i think is funny is that i have to a PIN to pass the state check and the fed's say that i am good go! no PIN needed.
-
as i understand it from my local toy store it has to with pistol if 2 are within a 5 or 7 day period. and it is the dealer responsably to know even if you bought from 2 different stores.

thanks, to you and greg, just never really knew what happen to that part. i guess myself like alot of others just got to caught up in the equipment changes, to notice the anything else. i know i was pissed because at that time it was new equipment for a family of 4. thanks again.

great thread! i do have question about, what i guess could be called movement. back about 10-12 years ago when i first started idpa, it was a big deal that you get fully back behind cover for the reload. that seems to have faded away. now when people are pieing a corner they stay leaned out to reload. so was that ever a rule? or just way things were back then? just wondering?

Allen i knew that the M & P was the gun for you! congrads, it looks like NB Forest is going to follow your lead and shoot one now also!

yes, music city did a great job! and squad 7 was a great group to shoot with it. so maybe the Music City Cup will be back for good! but next please not on the opening day of muzzle loader season!

they claim that the versa max copied alot if its features from the Benelli M2 in fact it is claimed that you remove the trigger group from the M2 and install it as is in the Versa Max and run the gun. even the pistol grip stock with small mods were it mates to versa max reciever.

Glock and S&W M&P tinkering & lessons learned
RWF replied to graycrait's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
i tryed some of the guns that others did there own trigger work ( M & P ) none of it was gritty. replacing the sear will not change any of the travel. like i said Dan does all of our M & P's since SSS does only parts now. all the pretravel work is on the front part of trigger bar and the over travel is done to the metal part of the frame to the right of the sear. for a very 1911 like trigger, for less than some of the high end drop in triggers for the glock. it is the return overnight shipping cost that i do not like.
