if you like 1911 in 45 keep it. you will always be shooting against yourself and others will the same limitations if you wish to call it that. if it is idpa match the most mags you can have on you is 2 on the belt and 1 in the gun. and the the max limit of rounds per stage is 18. but of course at a local match they may spice it up alittle from time to time. which to me is a good thing. have fun.

there lots of places to get your barrel threaded, once you get it threaded just pick out the brake you want. if later you want a suppresser no big deal. be sure and shop around. i like the arredondo better myself, the rolling thunder is also a top pick among many shooters.

! would never, never use WD-40 on any firearm . WD 40 dries up and is gone leave bear metal. on motor oil i only use Mobil 1 0-20 in my Bennilli shotgun action in winter shooting light loads,

+1 on family friendly. for the last few years it has been in OK at a great range but last year just before the Nats the owner of the range died and i think the bank was taking over, not sure have not kept up with it. so that could be a big part of the change.

if main reason for the sling is 3 gun or multi gun , i would not go with a single point. the viking tactics 1st or blue force, code blue can not remember the name. they are close form/fuction but most poeple go with the viking. remember what may be tact cool, does not mean it is good for racing.

do not forget that it is possible to have a great day, get a bump and not place again for some time. last year we got into the nationals with just a stamp, but had to shoot the match all in one day it was rough. and we have not shot a major since. we did it to say that we had done it. with no plans to go again. but now it is called a world championship we will apply and see what happens. yes it a long drive, but if you love the sport IDPA, 3 gun etc. there are always new and different challanges to a new place. and we have never been anywhere that we did not more than a few people.

+1 even if there are lots of majors in the south, the $,s still add up fast, match fees, food and travel. and cost cost twice as much if you shoot with wife or kids.

had a full size for awhile, nice gun. for a carry gun the LDA is a nice idea so you are not walking around locked and cocked. but i think it would hard to beat the EMP. runs like a champ and even for a small gun you will hit where you aim.

do not know about the match fee but talked to Brad today and was saying the new dates should the 2nd weekend in august.

the JP is what i mostly use, but also have the wilson TTU and i was very surpised on how much i like it.

i have friend who has the 203 type looks a little funny to with just a shoulder stock on it but it is blast to use. we shoot flash/bang, they ran about about $8.00 each i think it was.
