  1. Great info, guys. Thanks Had done some searching, but hadn't seen those links, Mugster. I'm kinda getting used to it. Will hopefully be able to go shoot it again next weekend ... I feel sure it will get me by for a while. And the added height of some ghost ring sights should solve the issue.... Really not digging the whole bead sight thing. It takes a sec to distinguish the flat strip on the 870 express receiver Good enough for "close encounters" though i guess.
  2. Yeah. It's a pretty odd question to begin with i guess I appreciate your thoughts on it. I plan on getting some ghost ring sights if/when i decide for sure that i am going to like the shotgun. I'm pretty sure that will solve the problem. It's not quite as quick or natural for me, but putting my cheek bone a little more to the side seems to work well enough for now i think. Would still appreciate any other thoughts on it though
  3. First off, i don't have much experience at all with any long guns. It is very possible that i am doing something wrong After reading and watching google results on proper stance etc today, it seems that it is impossible for me to get both a decent sight picture and a proper cheek weld. When i press my cheek into the comb, my cheek bone keeps my eye too high. This causes me to see both the bead, as well as the little rectangular base it is mounted on, sitting on the flat of the receiver. Unless i tilt my head forward, or bring my cheek back to like 3-4" from the butt of the stock. The gun is Rem 870 w/ unaltered factory synthetic stock. Either i'm missing something, or my noggin is just jacked up
  4. Congrats About time, eh?!!?! I wouldn't have known to call either, had i not found TGO
  5. I picked up my 6 from there around 2:00 today. First i had found in over a month. They were restocking from under the counter. Didn't ask how many more they had.... I'm really glad they are limiting the number per customer now. fwiw: I went by the cordova walmart first. They said they had just sold out of the 9mm a few hours before.... I was told a few mins after 7am is the best time to check with them.

  7. Nice! Mine's still pretty naked :-\ I really need to get a light, but really wanting some trijicon ghost ring sights. Maybe i should spend more time trying to get used to the bead though. That Norris thing sounds awesome! Have fun I'm hoping to find somewhere around here to shoot mine on a fairly regular basis... Would like to hunt some water jugs
  8. That's what i figured. But then i saw this on the Remington web site... Remington Model 870™ Express® Synthetic 7-Round I guess that's 6 +1 in the chamber. If you click specifications it says the mag capacity is 6. They need to correct their site if you can't really get six 3 inchers in there :-\
  9. That's not the problem, but still good to know. Thanks After messing with it for a couple hrs it is much better, and i can always get the 6th round in now. May just be some rough spots that need to be worn down(?)... my thumb is toast though BUT i decided to try 3" shells, and can only get 5 of them in. The rim isn't sticking at the opening of the tube like the 2 3/4" ones were doing though. Instead it is acting like the tube is about 1/4" short. The 6th round comes really close to fitting. I can actually load five 3" and one 2 3/4" into the tube with no issues. BTW: Classic Arms said they would be glad to look at it. I'll probably take it by there tomorrow or monday if i can't get it worked out.
  10. I just got a brand new 870 Express Synthetic that came with a 2 shot extension - brand new in sealed box. At least half the time i can't get the 6th round to go in due to the rim of the 5th round somehow being stuck just outside the tube. I can push around on it with my finger or a shell, but it will *not* budge Also- If i push the 5th round (when it's not jammed) deeper into the mag tube, it will get stuck about an inch or so in. I have only had it a few days, and it has yet to be fired. I just cleaned/oiled it tonight thinking that would help, but it didn't seem to help at all. I just submitted a support ticket to Remington. Should here back in "2-3 buisness days", but would appreciate some help before then
  11. Yeah. Extremely cool of ya, lowbud... It all made sense to me right away, and i'm often the last to "get it"

    Wolverine

Yeah. That's good advice. Sin City and 300 were really faithful to the comics, but there isn't a ton of backstory to be juggled with those. I have been waiting for a wolverine movie for oh,, about 20+yrs. Just going to try to enjoy it. Can't believe i haven't seen it yet
  13. Well, i bit the bullet (or shell??) and sprung on a nice new 870 like Linoge started out with. This will be more than adequate for now, and will be fun to build up over time.... Made a little trade with Classic Arms in Cordova for it, and they treated me well - as usual.... They also put some Trijicon night sights on my g-26 (also from Classic Arms) today..... Yeah. It was a good day Heh... I'll keep that in mind, but I still like what ya got on it
  14. Nice! Really dig what you built, and will study that list you got there. I would like to start out with something like you started with, and maybe build it up as funds allow. I dunno.... Looks like a great blog you have there, btw Edit: I'm starting to think i would like to make this gun something that could go beyond home defense now. If i could find a good plinking spot around here, i would like to have something capable of more than just hd
  15. Great info, 141FE. And clears up my concern over the length of the mag extensions I'm kinda stuck on the idea of getting a heat shield, and would really like to get ghost ring sites one way or the other. Hoping the ones on the ATI heat shield will be accurate and durable enough to last me a while.
  16. Limit of one box per customer. May be for the best though. Tactical Defense Solutions LLC - Speer Gold Dot LEO SPEER GOLD DOT 124gr 9mm+P (53617) - 50 ROUNDS $ 25.50 Subtotal: $ 25.50 Shipping and Handling: $ 10.87 Order Total: $ 36.37 The non +p (same as available from ammotogo) is also available for $25. That's exactly HALF the price!
  17. I appreciate the tips So you don't think those heat shield sights will suck too bad? I wouldn't be out much if i had to replace them later i guess. I'm really digging Hickok's 870. Though i do want to keep it as cheap as possible as you suggested. Gotta love Hickok's vids. Such cool toyz in his vids, and he definitely knows how to use em...
  18. Heh.. That's probably true, and i don't plan to order at those prices. I have 115 rounds of the good stuff. Just not going to have much of an alternative unless i don't ever shoot anything but blazer and wwb. OR start reloading, but that seems to be less of a sure thing these days too I would like to think i would have more of a supply if i had my 9 for more than 3 months. Seem to have gotten back into shooting at a bad time :-\
  19. I got a couple boxes of the 9mm 124gr Gold Dots for $35/box of 50 in March. Heard they were cheaper not long before i found them for that price. Well, they are back in stock again this weekend, and are now freakin $50 for a box of 50 I know they have been about $1/rnd for boxes of 20, but still... HOLLOW POINT Ammo : Ammunition To Go WHEN WILL IT END?!?!?!!?
  20. Ok. I have the Express receiver and Pachmayr pistol and forearm grip. I will be ditching the pistol grip though. The current tube only holds 4 (2 3/4" and 3"). First thing to get is a barrel. I want good sights- preferably ghost-ring, but have 3 options: 1- Get a reg bead sight barrel, and add ghost ring sights with the rear sight mounted on the receiver. (most expensive option) 2- Buy a barrel with sights already on it. Is the reduced sight radius of any real concern? 3- Get a heat shield with with ghost-ring sights. Seems a little iffy to me, but MUCH cheaper.... SHT-007 - ATI Shotforce Deluxe Shotgun Heat Shield Cooling Slots Ghost Ring Sight I would also be adding a mag tube extension right away. I prefer that it not protrude past the barrel. So may need to get a 18.5" barrel instead of 18"? Not sure how to determine that. I have found some 870's and a Mossberg 590 locally, but none have the ghost-ring sights. And they are too expensive to have to invest that much more money in. Would bring the total to $500ish :-\ Thanks for any tips or advice
  21. All together now... CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! CUT! Do you guys who have "cut" add a bead to the barrel? Is that a pretty easy thing to do?
  22. You will be giving up some of that fame by moving to mud island. Definitely get some other opinions though.... Yeah. I would imagine meadowbrook and state street would be a pretty "happening" area these days. You probably know about germantown. It's one of the safer places to live around here, and in the vicinity of 3 or 4 hospitals. Sounds like you may just be frequenting the ones on the other side of town though. Personally, i had rather live on mud island though. Best of luck with your move
  23. I moved to Memphis from Jackson too... Was over 20yrs ago though. Jxn and memphis have both gone downhill a bit since then i think. I would definitely go with Range USA... No question! Haven't heard much about mud island lately. Last i heard, it was a nice place to live though. Better than where i'm currently living, no doubt. My apts made the news tonight Welcome
  24. You and yours will be in my prayers. Lost my dad to cancer, and know how much it sucks to get news like that. Hang in there. True that.

    870 Express.

Yeah. I think I have that episode recorded. I'll have to look for it again. I was under the impression that 12ga birdshot was more than adequate (at indoor distances anyway)... Guess it comes down to one's definition of adequate though
