  1. I would be interested riding with other sport bikes ... Not because I hate cruisers, just because they are designed for a different type of riding that does not mesh well with sport bikes, ie. going through curves. I am not a speed fiend but I do like twisties. The only time I ride with a cruiser type is when there are just two of us.
  2. Welcome ... Mrs.H Mr. Sane can keep on shaking the rug, seems like his twisted logic is actually working against him. Must be nice living in a sheltered world ignoring news, events and incidents that scream; "Wake up!"
  3. +2 Guardrails amputate limbs ...
  4. He is correct ... technically. My view on the subject is I want it there as quickly as possible and the overnight shipping reduces the time in transit where stuff can get stolen. Overnight packages are tracked and monitored very heavily.
  5. Thank you for a most coherent and patient response.
  6. Gangs in Nashville, you gotta be kidding. Gangs in Chattanooga, never happened. Gangs in the Smokies ... impossible. Must be all those gangsta wannabe's trying to impress their friends.
  7. Common sense comes from moral values. Unfortunately getting rarer in today's society.
  8. Just because you have a HCP does not give you the same rights and duties as a LEO. You are not a comic book hero trying to rescue the helpless and get a pat on the back when you do it. Lord only knows how many "whackers" are out there pretending that they are pseudo-LEO's and really believe they have to power to protect the public. Believing that they have that power automatically puts into question their rationality and judgement. The HCP grants you the power to protect yourself against threat of grievous bodily injury or death. PERIOD. You may choose to use that power to protect someone else facing that situation, however, don't be surprised if your motives and personal life comes under a microscope where you have to defend your actions in a court of law. That, by the way, will cost you a lot of money and time. With power comes responsibilty. Use it wisely or it will bite you in the a$$.
  9. One thing to remember ... If you do choose to use it AND the District Attorney disagrees with your reasoning, it will cost you $20k to $60k in legal fees to clear your name. All this bench racing "what if" is worthless if you have a DA bound and determine to screw with you. AND your homeowners insurance won't pay a fricken dime.
  10. Most comfortable and natural ... Browning Buckmark competition grip model SIG GSR or any other 1911
  11. Go back to the store and try them all on .. preferrably a store that has several brands. I tried 5 different brands and finally settled on a Shoei cause of the shape of my head. The helmet should fit tight, you will feel like you can bite the insides of your cheeks. When you shake your head, the helmet should move with the head, no looseness allowed. Don't be influenced by graphics or color ... find a brand that fits and then go to the color and bling. You don't want a pressure hot spot that will give you a headache. I had an Arai salesmen pressure me into buying one of their helmets, I hated it. I traded that helmet for a pair of Dainese leather pants and never looked back. It is not the brand or the price you look for, it is the fit. Now that I know what model and size fits me, I can order one over the internet with no fear.
  12. Yeah ... like ten thousand of them! Awesome to see that Snopes verified as TRUE! That is a letter that will go down in history. Amen!
  13. Riding a bike is totally different than driving a car. Habits you picked up driving a car for years will get you killed on a bike. The number one most important thing about bike riding is wet ware, what is in your head and how you handle your emotions. MSF is a very good basic foundation to build on, not the endall to be all, it just gets you started. Many stop right there and it really shows in their attitude and skill sets. There are many types of training after the MSF courses, I took the Lee Parks Total Control class and was stunned at how much my riding improved after taking the class. Then there are track schools. As for gear, you can get good gear inexpensively by looking at the list mentioned above, they are the most reputable and have great prices on discontinued items. Don't get the idea that one piece of gear will do all, buying gear is a process and will never stop. I now have more gear than the price of my bike. I can now ride in all kinds of weather and do so quite frequently. Anyone who says that they are riding motorcycles to "save" money are lying to you or are in complete denial. If you do most of the maintainence yourself and are mechanically inclined, you can save some money. Examples are special tools you have to purchase, a car cost under $5/tire to swap on rims, motorcycles will cost you $30/tire if you bring the wheels there and up to $100/tire if they do it. There are several "surprises" like that out there you will encounter. Finally, the best advice I was given when I started riding again was; "Everytime you get on a bike, tell yourself that you are invisible and everyone is out there to hit you." Never expect people to see you, it will not happen. It will get you angry, and any emotion on a bike amplifies consequences. I don't care if it is anger or rocking along with a good song with earbuds on. Having said all that ... it is the most rewarding hobby/passion I have ever done in my life and would not trade it for anything ... even firearms!
  14. Don't buy anything until you have handled it. Go to gunstores (note the plural). Handle all the firearms you can. There will be one or two styles that within 2 seconds you will know is the ONE. Then beg ~ borrow ~ or rent one and confirm that THE ONE is a natural point to your hand. Save up and buy THE ONE. Every single time I have bought a firearm without doing the above, I have regretted the purchase and either sold or traded it. Don't fall into the "chevy vs. ford vs. dodge vs. ... whatever" wars. Using a firearm is an extremely tactile experience. Trying to explain it is like trying to explain sex to a 15 year old virgin. You just got to do it, and the more you do it, the better you will know what you need (not want!).
  15. Thank you for the info ... been out of the game for several years raising a family. Now that they are all on their own, slowly getting back in as finances will let me. Keeping my eye out for an estate or divorce sale where I can pick up a reloading setup at a good price.
  16. If you slam that car door hard enough, something will go crunch and they won't be able to walk away. In Texas however, seems they got a different set of rules ... one can protect property.
  17. Mind clueing me in why you say that? Enquiring mind wants to know. What about other caliber Glock spent brass?
  18. Beware of the a-hole scam artists. Lots of them will offer you more money that what you are asking for ... run very fast in the other direction.
  19. Here is the acid test. Go to a store that has the Ruger, Buckmark, mosquito and walther. I did and the second that buckmark with the competition grips hit my hand ... that was the ONE. It felt like and still feels like an extension of my hand. I never buy a gun without "feeling" it. If it don't feel right ... don't buy it. When you get one that feels right, you will know within two seconds.
  20. Whoa ... am I gonna have fun with this!
  21. Plus they were taxed again on it the following year!
  22. I have a 25 count box of plastic orange 12 ga. training blanks. PM me if you want enough to fill your magazine. I will sell them at cost. BROWNELLS: SAF-T-TRAINERS: PRECISION GUN SPECIALTIES
