  1. I wonder why the execs at my company get paid enough to build a house near the plant so their spoiled dog can stay there & they don’t have to leave him all alone 50 miles away at thier other house & brag about it. Meanwhile we lay off more people every week & everything this particular “a†hole does is so screwed up it takes 5 people to go behind him & clean up his messes.

    New "toy"

Hey I've had one of those for several years, carry it when discretion a must - not extremely accurate but this is kind of a last resort weapon & it’s much better than nothing at all. It did scare me once when I pulled it out of my pocket & the hammer was sitting on a live round instead of the safety notch where it was supposed to be.
  3. I have only seen one 870 have this problem & it was dryer than a popcorn f@rt dont be afraid of the lube.
  4. you might consider a custom holster I use one of these for IDPA http://lefthandholster.com/ It appears that he makes one for keltec's if you look in holsters & accessories
  5. Sr. Design Engineer for a company that makes air & water purification equipment. Before that I worked for Philips til they decided to have everything made south or far east of the border.
  6. Anyone interested in shooting at Greeneville or Bristol Tac2 & Kettlefoot?
  7. If you are in a mixed group of friends & they know you are packing & they don't, they may tend to think of you as their bodyguard & when something goes down they will expect you to do something & quite possibly draw unnecessary attention to you at a very bad time. This has gotten at least one off duty cop killed in a store that he frequently stopped at. When he walked into a robbery in progress & the clerk knew he was packing & yelled for him to shoot them. The bad guys buddy at the back of the store behind the cop shot him in the back – he didn’t have a chance thanks to the clerk knowing that he always carried. Now I’m not saying that your friends aren’t worth saving, & I’m not saying you should act like a cop, but if I have to confront a bad guy with deadly force, I don’t want him to know I’m packing until I deem it necessary.
  8. FYI the strips on the goods at Wal-mart are embedded with something called an rfid chip the metal strip you see is only the antenna the detectors are sending out a radio frequency that actually powers a microchip in side, that strip it can store volumes of information & communicate with the detectors It is how they intend to have a shopping cart that rings up the items as you drop them into the buggy & will have a credit/debit card reader built into the buggy as well - in development now Wal-mart told all its suppliers they had to foot the bill for the rfid chips in every product sold in the store - it also makes inventory a breeze as you can walk up & down the isles with a hand held scanner & scan everything at once There is also allot of talk about implanting these into children at the hospital - think big brother is watching now, just wait a few years They already implant these into pets if you request it most vets can do it, the animal shelters can pull up the pet owners name address etc by scanning the animal
  9. For all of you who claim to open carry all or most of the time, do you know what to do if someone grabs your gun from behind or in any other way? Do you carry some sort of retention holster? Do you train for this scenario?
  10. Thompson ®81.25% match Duncan Hunter ® - 71.88% Ron Paul ® - 71.88% Tom Tancredo ® - 71.88% my bottom 4 were New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) - 28.13% Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd (D) - 28.13% Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) - 28.13% Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards (D) - 25.00% But since we all know democrats have to take a poll to see what they stand for at that moment I'm not sure how they can figure out what their positions actually are long enough to match them to anyone
  11. I think this is the part of the code that applies to non security personel I have the certificate, I got mine at TAC2 if I remember correctly it cost around $20 & took 2 or 3 hours it basically was along the same lines of a carry permit class covered what strikes are considered lethal vs non lethal with some class time & then some time wailing on your training partner with a training baton while heavily padded. it was great for stress relief. T.C.A. 39-17-1308.9 (9) By any person possessing a club or baton who holds a certificate that the person has had training in the use of a club or baton for self-defense that is valid and issued by a certified person authorized to give training in the use of clubs or batons, and is not prohibited from purchasing a firearm under any local, state or federal laws; or

  14. PREACHER MAKES A SLAVE OF KIDNAPPED GIRL June 23, 1999-- Minister 'stole baby to be servant' By David Sapsted in New York A MINISTER and his wife are to stand trial in Tennessee for stealing a baby from a children's home 20 years ago and raising her to believe that God put her on earth to be their servant. The girl, who was frequently beaten, denied medical care and never sent to school, served the couple and their four children until she was taken to hospital after attempting suicide last year. According to police, she was physically and sexually abused by Joseph Combs, 50, pastor of the now-defunct Emmanuel Baptist Church, and his wife, Evangeline. The couple kept her a virtual prisoner, said Capt Blaine Wade, of Bristol police. "I don't think she ever really knew it was wrong." While the couple did not mistreat their children, court documents allege that the kidnapped girl was beaten and kept in seclusion. She was supposed to have been educated at home, but cannot read or write. In addition to kidnapping and assault charges, which both husband and wife face, Combs has been charged with seven charges of rape. Both have pleaded not guilty. Their trial will be held in September. According to the indictment, the couple took the unnamed baby from a nursing home in Indiana. The girl escaped twice, in 1992 and 1996, but was returned to the couple by police. Capt Wade said the woman, now 20, has been reunited with her natural parents.
  15. If recoil were no issue at 1000yrds I would us a barret .50 alas my pockets aren't that deep
  16. http://www.tac2.com/pdf/displaypdf.php?recno=14 I don't know how many of you have shot IDPA but I highly recommend it especially at TAC2, occasionally I shoot idpa at Kettle foot in Bristol, I'm pretty sure first timers shoot free the first time both places. I have taken several training classes but had no idea what I would do under stress if “x†situation happened such as double feed, failure to feed etc. until I started shooting matches, I realize that an idpa match isn’t Bubba & his brother trying to relieve you of your valuables or life but trust me get out there in front of several people & you will feel the pressure. The 2 main reasons I like Tac2 are #1 it’s 10 minutes from my house & #2 his stages are creative. Expect moving targets, steel reactive targets, shooting into or out of vehicles, etc. A brief description of the last match Stage 1 7 steel targets shot down a hallway from a doorway with 4 cardboard targets to the sides one of which was a disappearing target triggered by stepping on a spot in the hall Stage 2 3 & 4 Were all similar, 3 cardboard targets grouped closely in all 3 Stage 2 required 3 shots on all paper with 1 head shot each, the first 3 shots in tactical sequence Stage 3 same as 2 minus the headshots but shots had to be made while retreating Stage 4 same as 3 but stationary all shots from weak hand Stage 5 Shooter starts at the door to the saloon at buzzer shooter engaged black & white targets from the left & right windows alternating windows / colors for each shot. This was the match make or break stage. Stage 6 Basic Bill Drill, 6 shots from surrender position as fast as possible. Stage 7 El Presidente shooter starts with back to targets 6 rounds in the gun, at buzzer shooter turns, then draws fires 2 per target at which point your firearm will be at slide lock reload & put 2 more in each target. Stage 8 Shooter starts seated ankles crossed & fingers locked at buzzer shooter draws fires 3 rounds into T1 & T2 then perform a tactical reload move to barrel Then engage T3-T6 from the left of the barrel & T7-T10 from the right side. Sorry I don’t have any pics maybe next time. BTW I was 6th in CDP
  17. If I want to create a nasty intimidating noise in the middle of the night I think I would just start my chainsaw!
  18. Didn't I see something that declared black powder weapons as non guns - could this be a loophole?
  19. Can anyone tell me where the blade legally per tn code begins on a folding knife. I regularly carry a knife sold my the manufacturer as a 3.75" blade knife someone at the local gun shop thought that leo's would measure from the pivot point which would put this particular knife over the 4" limit. Does anyone have any insight into this?
  20. I have to go with the pump. I have been in several shotgun self-defense training classes & every auto that I have seen in these classes always had problems these were 2 & 3 day classes so it might have been that they were just dirty but they did have problems I never saw a pump have an issue in any of these classes & in one of them it rained half the time & I did not clean or lube my 870 for the duration, I must admit that I do have to train myself to run the action after each shot so that I am not standing there with an un-chambered weapon but that is a matter of conditioning & training. As for the racking noise in the middle of the night, that would be a choice of whether or not one chooses to keep the chamber empty or not, both actions will make a healthy metal clank in the middle of the night. I would also highly recommend mounting a good flashlight to the weapon no matter which one you chose. I have seen one 870 that had to be dis-assembled to get the action unfrozen it belonged to labrat & was “dryer than a popcorn fart†after adding some lube it was good as new.
  21. I used to wonder why there were so many people packing in our local applebees & getting to talk to the local law enforcement I don't know the outcome of any of them but when my better half went to her permit class one taught by a local LEO I personally saw him tell everyone there that they could carry right into applebees - all CCW classes are definitely not created equal!!!!
  22. This one really gets me upset especially when the media & the restaraunt associations claim the restaraunts will be the wild west, same tired argument. I also find it interesting that as I understand it places where alcohol is consumed but not sold - a BYOB location is ok as long as you are not consuming.
  23. LOW LIGHT CLINIC TAC2 Jun. 02, 2007 BATON CERTIFICATION CLASS TAC2 Jun. 09, 2007 PERSONAL PROTECTION HANDGUN ---- LEVEL I TAC2 Jun. 16, 2007 http://www.tac2.com/index.php?template=calendar Close Quarter Handgun Tactics Cumberland Tactics Sep 14-Sep 16 This class will be taught in Greeneville TN http://www.guntactics.com/schedule.htm Not necessarily training but there is an IDPA match at Kettlefoot tommorrow 5-26 I don't know if its still the case but new shooters were shooting for free http://www.animalmedclinic.com/188211.html There may be others in the area, if there are I hope someone will share the info.
  24. Is it just me or wasn't the original topic where to find training in east tn or nc? Wouldn't it be nice to just see a list of all available in the area & leave all the finger pointing to another thread called say reviews of training schools etc.
  25. I was pointed to the east tenn gathering at Pratts by labrat - Had a fine time - I took the pics, sorry for the poor quality but it was a cell phone after all.
