I have to disagree, it depends on the gun on some of my 1911's I can measure the difference in trigger pull before & after a good strip & clean - yes that spray might get most of the crud out but it would be hard to get the right amount of oil / grease back in all the spots where it belongs on certain guns. Have I ever used that spray - absolutely when I was too busy or lazy to break it down. I have never owned a glock from what friends I shoot with tell me they will run dirty - some guns won't. maybe I just like to be sure all the little bits are still in there, but I feel much better knowing its spotless in all the nooks & crannies.

ccw 1911 advice sought

I use this holster http://www.wilsoncombat.com/l_featherweight.asp with this belt http://www.wilsoncombat.com/l_belts.asp I actually borrowed a holster like it & thought I would hate it but it is very comfortable. -
http://www.cylinder-slide.com/index.php?app=ccp0&ns=catshow&ref=BHPDI wide trigger http://www.cylinder-slide.com/index.php?app=ccp0&ns=prodshow&ref=32 I have 2 hi powers - that mag disconnect is horrible, at best it makes the trigger heavy, at worst it feels like sandpaper. if you just pull out the mag disconnect though you might want to put an extra power trigger return spring in as it will be weak on the return without the extra push of that disconnector

1. Make sure it works in your gun 2. Make sure it is accurate in your gun 3. There is no magic bullet - shot placement is # 1 -
Crimson Trace and Light/LASER combos
Schadenfreude replied to E4 No More's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
1. I have had a set on a 1911 for at least 5 years they have never failed to work, never lost zero, & the gun has been fired several hundred rounds. Are they worth $240 - not sure what I paid but I would say they were worth the money. 2. You might consider lasermax, however I don't think they currently make anything for an M&P. 3. As for a light laser combo I always have a handheld surefire handy, no experience with the combo units out there. -
so what do you think of that eotech magnifier is it the swing to the side version? I have an eotech & would like to have one of those if its remotely close to the asking price

IDPA - Will It Get You Killed?
Schadenfreude replied to Cruel Hand Luke's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I realize that this thread has already lost most of its steam, but I think anyone who carries should shoot at least one idpa match, it really gets the adrenaline flowing. I'll admit probably not as much as being shot at by a bad guy etc. but it will test your mind & your equipment. Your #1 defensive tool is your brain #2 might be your gun. An idpa match will test both – if your gun can’t get through an idpa match without giving you trouble then – you better learn malfunction clearances by heart, which you should know anyway because Murphy will always be there when you least expect him! & Maybe that gun isn’t the one you should be carrying if it constantly fails to function – every gun can & will malfunction I have seen 1911’s, glocks, smiths, Beretta’s & even revolvers have malfunctions even if the gun doesn’t the ammo might – you need to know how to deal with it. Before I started shooting IDPA & going to training classes I knew that if I had a malfunction in a situation I was going to throw the weapon at the B.G. & run like he**. I don’t think that would even cross my mind now. At my first match I was shaking like a pup sh*tting peach seeds now it’s just fun, its not defensive training but you will learn a thing or twelve about yourself & yours & other peoples equipment. -

I have absolutely no ammo in my safe - there's barely enough room for the guns that are in there! By the biggest safe that you can afford.

I think they have pretty quick access to hot gun ser#'s if they are reported stolen I have heard local leo's on the scanner call in a ser# now & then to see if it was hot but to trace it otherwise isn't going to happen during a traffic stop

before you buy shoot as many different types as you can get your hands on, if the gun doesn't fit you you won't be able to hit with it.

http://www.rottweil-munition.de/en/db_article/Rottweil_BRENNEKE_Classic_Magnum.php?navid=51 I prefer these, however, I have cinder block interior walls & don’t really have to worry about over penetration. I can shoot one ragged hole at 25 yards with them. This slug lets you make a precision shot without worrying about where the wad is going to go as it is attached to the slug.
