  1. I like the old sherrif's reply to a lady at a dinner party who asked him "Why do you have a pistol? Are you expecting trouble?" He politely responded "No maam! If I were expecting trouble, I'd have brought my shotgun.":D
  2. S-W Forum I'm tempted by this one myself!!!!
  3. I love a success story! Thanks for sharing. June will be #16 for us. Like a wise old man once told me "There ain't nothin better than a good woman, and there ain't nothin worse than a bad one." Looks like some us here lucked out.
  4. 4" are hard to come by. You wouldn't settle for a 6 or 6.5" would you?
  5. Quick draw would be a ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Man, I'm glad I took the time to read that book!!!
  7. The mods might consider making this thread a sticky. I'm enjoying your writing so far.
  8. Buy a Rock Island, a range membership, and more than enough ammo to become proficient with it.
  9. Take a fool's advice and write something that won't offend the teacher. I know you are right, you know you are right, but we aren't grading your paper.
  10. Bolt your safe to the floor and don't worry about it. Extra insurance for guns is a rip off in my opinion.
  11. Do you have trouble operating the safety? I will be interested to hear your range report.

    Ancestry

Cool stories. I am a direct decendant of John Adams. How do you all like Ancestry.com. Is it worth the price of admission?
  13. On two occasions I've reached into my pocket, but never actually pulled the gun out. Luckily, both times the people on the would be receiving end were smart enough to know what was about to take place and changed their minds. Once in the parking lot of the Rivergate mall, and once at a gas station in Huntsville Alabama. Both times were similar, in that I was out of the car and noticed there were several black men surrounding me and closing in toward me. Both times, they scattered as I reached into my front pocket. That is a terrible feeling. I'm sure happy that neither time things went any further. Sorry if this offends anyone, but I'm describing what happened as accurately as I know how.
  14. Great post. I've seen the effects of the saltwood stocks, and heard it discussed in passing, but never to the degree you've shared here. Thanks.
  15. Is it that big of a deal?
  16. Anyone who would blame Galco for this, and owns a holster I made; please return it for a refund!!!
  17. Try carrying some guns to sell. That usually makes the show more interesting. It is a good conversation starter, and you invariably get offered some interesting trades. I'd enjoy the gun show more if more people would clean out their closets and "bring em to the show".
  18. I have one of those plastic water heaters, and I can only get parts from the local electric company. There was only a young girl there answering the phone, but she agreed to sell me the parts. She wanted to know why I was buying both thermostats, and not just the one that went bad. I told her I wasn't smart enough to determine which one was the problem, and I'd prefer to replace both rather than to come back again later and have to clean up all that water again. I think she saw it my way after that.
  19. I've replaced mine with braided hoses. While not foolproof, they are a lot stronger, and cheap insurance in my opinion. Now that;s a neat idea. I may look into one of those. Right now I'm working on an IWB holster and matching belt for a 1911 Commander. It looks to me like you've got the holster making figured out. This tutorial helped me a lot: JDLawhon.com - Holstermaking 101 As fr the stitching, I'd say you are just a couple of tools away from perfect stitching. An adjustable groover, a freehand groover, an overstitch wheel, and a diamond shaped awl would help immensly.
  20. Yeah...leave those for me.:cool:I buy a lot more stuff from guys walking around with a gun for sale than I ever have bought off a table. The parking lot is the best place for a deal. They are there, you just have to know what to look for.
  21. ....and I noticed I was standing in several inches of water! Apparently, my water heater's thermostat quit working, and it became a pressure cooker sometime today. I replaced both thermostats (I have no idea how to tell which one is bad, but they're both the same age), and the pop off valve(I've had bad luck with these avter they've activated), several trips to dump the shop vac later, and I'm back in business. Anyway, how do you check to see if a thermostat is good or bad? Is there any indication they are about to go bad, or does it just happen?
  22. Great post! Because of the threat of rain, my son elected to sleep in this morning. He wants to give em a shot in the morning, however.
  23. I can play a bit. I have a few guitars. I also have a piano, but I've let that kind of slip away for several years now. I need to get back into it. I thought if you lived within 100 miles of Nashville, that you were required to be able to play a guitar.
