  1. How old are the kids? Mine both began learning gun safety in diapers.
  2. That's what I'm looking for! Thanks.
  3. Never thought of that. I'll have to give it a try.
  4. Nice! I've always wanted a Garand, but have yet to find the right deal at the right time.
  5. I didn't say you set the bag on fire. You set it on the grill grate. You cook it over coals; not a blazing flame. I've done it, and had great results. I guess the moisture in the food keeps the bag from melting, and the heat keeps the moisture from leaking or something. You end up with the bottom of the bag being hard and blackened; it favors oil cloth when the brekfast is cooked. I haven't burned any yet. The first ones did take a bit longer than I would have thought. It doesn't sound like it would work, and I was skeptical, but I'm telling you it worked great. The worst thing was a bit of bacon stuck to the bottom of the bag.

Yes. A 22 long rifle single shot is superior to a sharp stick or empty pocket in self defense.
  7. The well would only be for a situation in which all else fails. At that point, I'd take a chance on the water being potable. If you know of a local person in Northern Middle Tennessee who drills wells, or even better yet, if someone here does, I'd like some contact info.
  8. WIth camping season nigh, I thought I'd share a breafast recipe we tried last year. Line the bottom of a brown paper lunch bag with bacon. Cover with frozen hash brown potatoes, cover with two eggs, salt and pepper. Fold the top of the paper bag closed and sit on a grill or grate over the campfire for about 25-30 minutes; or until the eggs are done. You can eat it from the bag, and throw the empty bag into the fire. A great breakfast with little effort and no cleanup. Got any you'd like to share?
  9. I'm not the most observant person you'd ever see, and when I'm out and about, I'm usually people watching, or have my mind on something a thousand miles away. Unless there's a large sign on the front door at eye level, I don't generally notice postings. It isn't on purpose, but that just isn't something that's on the top of my mind. I'm sure I've walked unknowingly by several postings. How much effort should one put into locating these signs? Are you always thinking about them, and on the lookout for them?
  10. I've spent some time thinking and taking stock of my situation; especially since the earthquake in Japan. The best I can come up with is that I'm pretty well prepared for most any emergency, except for one thing: WATER. We have city water, and if you've ever laid any water line, you'll know that the pieces just snap together. It seems to me that in an earthquake, they'd snap apart just as easily. This is assuming that the city is still able to provide water at all. Is there anyone in Middle Tennessee that still drills wells? I may look at having one drilled.
  11. I would just try to be still, quiet, and agreeable, and do your best to do what the officer asks you to do. If you drop your wallet in the floorboard, DO NOT bend over to pick it up!!!!! AN officer's handgun looks like it has an awfully big hole in it when he's pointing it at your nose!!!!!
  12. I'm sure your posts were aimed at me, wjh2657. You are technically correct that since I'm not in the military, I'm not fighting a war personally. I do have friends and family who are, and the U.S.A. is at war. I am a citizen of the U.S.A., ergo WE are at war. I appreciate your service, but it doesn't make you any more of a United States citizen than I am. I understand the point you are trying to make, but it seems you've chosen a poor way to present it.
  13. Not even close. He subscribes to the local newspaper and several outdoor and gun magazines. I expect his name was pulled from something like that.
  14. Here is mine in a couple of pics I found.
  15. My 12 year old son got one a couple of days ago. He thought he was in big trouble, getting a letter from the sheriff, until he opened it and saw what it was. Our sheriff has made more than a few idiotic remarks in the past regarding guns. He isn't getting anything from me; not even a vote next election.
  16. It's about as informative as many gun magazine articles I've read lately.
  17. The NRA isn't perfect, but they're the best and most effective representation we have at the moment. I have several gripes with them, such as mailing me crap 3-4 times per week, instead of using those funds to fight for gun rights. I'll continue to support them as long as I can, and voice my opinion on what they are doing right and what they could improve upon.
  18. Welcom to the forum. I'd like to see pics of your Colt Ace. They are really neat guns. I have a cheap version of a 1911 22 made by German Sport Guns. I really enjoy shooting it.
  19. Sounds lika a great deal!!!
  20. No, sorry, I don't. I have a 1911, an LCP, a bunch of revolvers, and several antique pistols most have never heard of.
  21. Trade it for a .22LR.
  22. Hang around the house and worry the h3ll outta her for a while; she'll finally ask you "why don't you go turkey hunting?"
  23. I killed my first turkey with an old single shot 12 guage with the forearm taped to the barrel. I've killed others with an Ithaca double and a model 37 Ithaca pump. It doesn't take anything high tech.
  24. I've fired only one SKS and one AK 47. The SKS was far more accurate than the AK.
  25. I make a few holsters, but don't have a Sigma to use for a pattern and mold. Perhaps someone else here could help you, as there are several capable holster majers here. Sorry I couldn't help. I don't mind recommending this gentleman either:Lobo Gun Leather - Home
