  1. I guess I'm the odd man out here, but I like the post count. When buying, selling, or trading on a forum, a high post count is a pretty good indication that the person isn't likely to screw you on the deal. A low post count doesn't necessarially translate into a bad trade, but the higher post count does give an indication of their stability on the site. If the moderators you currently have are in charge of the reputation point system, I can see a glaring problem arising with one in particular. You DID ask for opinions, right?
  2. Yeah. We ALL know deer are waaaaaaaaaay too tough to succomb to a 30 caliber 170 grain bullet, unless it came out of a belted magnum.
  3. Anything's possible, but here's my guess. If you are concerned about a powder charge that doesn't fill the case, you can buy Dacron and stuff into the case between the powder and bullet to keep the powder against the primer. That being said, I load some very weak 38 SP loads, and I've yet to have a problem with my powder not igniting. I don't think you'll accomplish much with the test you are proposing.
  4. I occasionally watch them for amusement. Some of the cr@p they try to sell on them is unbelievable. I guess people are buying it. A blind made of a mirror? A goose decoy you sit in? Gimme a break!!!
  5. I'll bet it kicked!!!!! That goes to prove the strength of a mauser type action; specifically, Ruger's take on the grand old design. I have no idea what kind of pressure that created, but you know it's an astronomical number. Just goes to show that one can never be too careful. I can see where something similar to that would be easy to do if you had several rifles and ammo scattered about at a shooting bench.
  6. How bout a 4" N frame S&W revolver? Maybe a 625.
  7. How much do they cost?
  8. I voted for the Remington model 7 predator. I would, however, prefer the wood stocked version of the model 7. The CDL I think they call it. They are pretty rifles, and they are very light and petite. I can't say any of that about the Savage. It is big, bulky, and quite ungainly in appearance. It will most likely be the better shooter of the two, however.
  9. YOu can buy from a private seller, but not an FFL.
  10. Then why didn't you say "my friend" or "the guy that was with me"? It seems to me that you are using him in a veiled attempt at a threat.
  11. Sure you can.....if you've got a buddy on the Sumner County Sheriff's patrol.
  12. Heck, I might just right back over there some day to meet you, Daniel. You seem like a pretty good guy.
  13. I wasn't knocking you in any way, Daniel. I'm a long way from your store, and I can find most anything I need closer. I'm not very good at conveying my thoughts the way I think them. Sorry. Looks like you all have a thriving business. That is what I was trying to say.
  14. I've been in Guns and leather only one time; about a year ago. It was on a weekday; in the middle of the afternoon. They were so busy that I had trouble looking at anything, let alone getting a chance to talk to a salesman. I probably won't go back, but from the looks of it, they must be doing something right.
  15. I have an early mini 14 ranch rifle, and I'll shoot it against anyone's ar15.
  16. WTF does this have to do with the rest of your post? Should we all bow down to him?
  17. If it shoots good and you like it, you got a real bargain.
  18. I have a Sierra, and Lee reloading manuals, and a Lyman cast bullet handbook. There are several free manuals to be had a reloading supply stores, and I have several of those as well. Most any of them will be fine, and the more you have, the more info you'll have available.
  19. This belongs in the Survival Skills secion of this forum. In fact, it could take the place of the survival skills section.
  20. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/want-buy/46690-wtb-gold-silver.html Couldn't hurt to shoot this guy a PM.
  21. :DYou looking to get your money back?
  22. I don't have a 45/70, but I've owned and shot several handi rifles, and I think they are great guns for the money.

Ruger LCP. I'd buy another one of I had it to do over.
  24. They both shoot around an inch group. Very little recoil. The 243 brass and ammo is a whole lot easier and cheaper to get, but somehow it just isn't as cool as the 257 Rob. Everyone doesn't have one. If you're goig with a mauser action, I think cutting the military stock to fit the child is a great idea.
