  1. Good point about the hearing protection. Make sure she wears it.
  2. Buy about a dozen of those rubber tie down straps you see scattered all over the interstate or stop and pick some up, and keep them strapped to the racks on your four wheeler. You can strap darn near anything to the four wheeler with them. If it has a storage box on it, put in a spare spark plug, a small flashlight, and a length of large nylon strap you can use for towing. I don't have one but I think a windshield would be nice.
  3. I'd like one as soon as someone puts one together and then decides they don't want it. They'd be cheaper that way.
  4. Have you lost your freaking mind??!!????? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I'm left handed, but I operate mine in this same manner.
  6. I find it funny that people who claim not to believe in God get awful touchy at the mention of his name. I don't believe in the Easter Bunny, but I don't get all worked up if you want to talk about him.
  7. My wife likes shooting most anything, but what enjoys most is shooting clay pigeons with a shotgun. Thrown slowly, they are quite east to hit. She has a 20 guage semi auto that has very little recoil, and to tell the truth, she's very good with it. She's ready to shoot any time I pull out the thrower. We make it a family affair, and sometimes add a bit of competition to it by playing various games.
  8. Mike, You are in my prayers.
  9. This is the kind of crap you find yourself in when liberals are allowed to make desicions. They make them using "feelings" and not logic, facts, and simple math.
  10. I'd suggest you and her shoot a 22 at clay pigeons, unopened soda cans, or other easy to hit stationary targets that react when hit. Explain the basics of gun safety to her and then make it easy when she begins shooting. Don't make a big deal if she doesn't do everything perfectly at first. Make sure you are close enough to the targets for an easy hit. She might like to take a female friend along. Don't make it a long, drawn out affair. Quit before she grows tired of it, and she'll likely want to go back.
  11. There is a reason you don't see many semi autos chambered for rimmed cases....they don't chamber reliably! Why not get a 357 SIG or a .40?
  12. Really!:doh:I can't believe you are the first one to recommend a COLT. They've only been making them for about 100 years now. I imagine they've about figured out how to do it by now.
  13. I see your point.
  14. I can't really imagine a situation, other than a fire or tornado, where I'd be inclined to leave home. In those cases, the damage should be rather limited in area, so finding a suitable place to relocate temporarially shouldn't present a big problem. Am I missing something?
  15. I had to grade my driveway with my tractor and boxblade after the rains.
  16. I keep a few cases of bottled water in the basement, and rotate them as I use them. Should be enough to avert all but the most unthinkable disasters.
  17. That's a big freaking hole in I-24!!!
  18. I've seen it. Have you sat and watched them? They are there for 12 hour shifts. You see them for about 15 seconds. They don't have a job that I'd envy. I'm telling ya, if some drunk fool runs off into that hole and sues the state for multi millions, the folks sitting in the truck making sure the area is safe to traverse will seem like quite a bargain. If the slide happens to get worse in the middle of the night, flashing barriers won't move themselves. I agree it doesn't seem efficient, but it's not a bad option short term. Moving enough concrete barriers there to secure the area would be very costly, and time consuming to set and then later remove.
  19. Find and purchase a case or two of 380 ammo before you buy the handgun. Then it will not be a concern. You won't ever run out of it.
  20. I love my 218 Bee and my 250-3000. I'm also a fan of the 257 Roberts. Ammo availbility isn't a big concern for me. When I find it, I buy a bunch of it. Then I have it when I want it. Reloading helps as well. I've got a few 380s, but don't shoot them much. Limited ammo availibility will be a short term problem, as it is pretty much THE standard conceal carry round. It probably ain't gonna get any easier to find ammo for my 6.5 Jap though.

    .22 Plinker?

Don't cheap out on the 22s. I shoot 22s 10-1 over all pther calibers combined. My favorite is an older Smith and Wesson model 18 Combat Masterpiece with a 4" barrel.
