  1. That's a sweet knife.
  2. Were I the OP, I'd at least shoot a note over to Metalhead (Daniel) about your experience. While airing your issue here may get you sympathy, he's the one person who can actually do something about it, and I expect would like to hear about it.
  3. The Deep Dark Woods
  4. That's good to know. I'm looking pretty hard at the TiRant .45. I'm really intrigued by the 7.62x25 Tokarev. New ammo isn't too expensive. I seem to recall seeing old Soviet milsurp stuff from time to time, too.
  5. Ooh. I'm jealous. Where'd you get it?
  6. Speaking of, have you loaded up those engine block killers yet?
  7. I don't see that horse coming back to the barn anytime soon.
  8. Between the two, I'd go SOCOM, too. Like the previous two posters I'm also biased since I'm a SOCOM shooter. It was a tough choice for me between the Blackout and the Spectre. I ended up going with the Spectre because there's more knockdown for the hogs I'm shooting with the heavy .338 bullet traveling at 1050 fps. Of course, I'm sure I'll add a Blackout to the lineup at some point. I'm kind of drawn to collect the whole set.
  9. I was just going to suggest that Good power in a nice, compact package. And, suppresses great through a 9mm can!
  10. I've got one of the junior sized Rossi .22LR/.410 combos. It's a great little package at a reasonable price. Pretty good sights. Easy to work on fundamentals. I'd call it ideal for a kid learning to shoot. If he's 9, all of his shooting is going to be supervised by you for a few years, yet. You could do something hotter, but why? .22LR/.410 is enough.
  11. DM Bullard makes a couple of really nice holsters that fit it. I've got the 9mm version and love it.
  12. The self-declared owner of the company does not appear to have been back on the site since Saturday evening. As such, I'm going to go ahead and lock the thread per the OP's earlier request. That said, if anyone from the company in question would like a chance to respond to anything in this thread, please PM me, and I'll be happy to open it back up.
  13. Has anything else been reported about this guy's motivation in the first place? As to shooting through the window, if someone has fired in anger and still retains that weapon, they're still an active threat. To you. To others around them. And, likely to themselves. Just because the muzzle isn't pointed at you right then doesn't change the threat.
  14. Jeremy, Congratulations. You were the 12,941 person to join TGO. That means there were 12,940 people before you to join this site, and there have been a few since. 95% of these gun enthusiasts who actually like guns enough to join a forum dedicated to them live in Tennessee, meaning they are in a position to potentially purchase your products. If you look at our list of supporting vendors and query them, you'll find that TGO is a very supportive group. I personally go out of my way on a regular basis to purchase things from them when I know I could likely find it a little cheaper elsewhere online. If you'll look below Dolomite's name in one of his posts, you'll see the words "Subject Matter Expert". To be clear, he's not a moderator because we don't want our SMEs having to deal with the day-to-day administrative issues that threads like this one eventually cause. Rather, he is one of several voices on this site that we want to float to the top. That's because he knows his stuff, has earned the respect that he has on this site and is more than willing to freely share his knowledge. I expect if we took a poll of how many people on this site he has helped either on the phone or in person, often on his own dime just because he likes to help, the thread would go at least as long as this one has. So, when Gordon posted this thread, it wasn't some random guy on the Internet anonymously bad mouthing a shop. It was an important member of our community who was rightfully outraged by a flippant email response to a legitimate question. Your continued intransigence shows clearly that his indignation was well founded and rightfully placed. As a small business owner who knows what it takes to make it, much less thrive in this economy, I'm truly dumbfounded by this thread. But do realize what you're doing here. We've got plenty of examples of great shops in this state with great customer service (not that we couldn't always use a few more). I'm thankful that Gordon pointed out your poor example so that I don't need to waste my time or money. Good luck.
  15. Thanks for the good review, Mike!
  16. McCormick and Shmicks in Houston has some really cool wall mounted sconces made out of them. The light kind of makes the shell translucent.
  17. I have used several. I like the Surefire X300 the best, and even though it's a little more expensive, it's the only light I'll even consider these days.
  18. I have no brass, trash, or live ammunition... Oh wait... Never mind.
  19. You'll never be sorry you bought a Pelican 1750.
  20. External hard drives are great for getting stuff off of your primary machine, but really aren't that responsive to total loss events. If you have a fire, theft or whatever your external hard drive may burn up alongside your computer. You can do several things to address this. One, get the external drive offsite once you're done copying your stuff to it. Give it to a friend, put it in a safety depsoit box, whatever... Better yet, big drives are cheap enough now that you can realistically have two if you shop around. Keep one onsite and rotate it out with your friend or family member once a month or so. Best yet, consider an online service like Carbonite. That way your house can burn up and you can focus on grabbing something more important than your computer.
  21. How terrible!
  22. You need to shoot a Benelli M4. 9 of the smoothest rounds you'll ever shoot out of a shotgun. Be careful, though. Once you shoot one, you'll judge every other shotgun you shoot against it.
  23. I bet it's Waffle House and Cracker Barrel's busiest Sunday of the year with everyone pulling into the church parking lot and realizing they're an hour early.
  24. The Saudis have guaranteed them safe passage and radio silence.
