That is an interesting thought. We've bribed Israel to sit on their hands for the better part of 20 years. We get asked to leave Iraq. Untie Israel and you definitely stay in Iraq one way or the other. To what end - I don't even want to imagine. I'm not sure I buy the news coming out today, but that said, I've been sleeping lightly on new moon days for years kind of expecting it. November 25th is the next one.

Memphis pizza delivery guy shoots would-be robber.
MacGyver replied to Chucktshoes's topic in General Chat
One of our Jet's Pizza drivers here in Nashville was in a similar situation last year, and shot one of two people robbing him. Not only did he avoid being fired, but from what I understand from speaking with the owner they really supported the guy after the fact and encourage their employees to protect themselves appropriately. I'm glad their pizza's good, because it is now where we buy all of ours. -
Yeah, that's why I kept the magazines.

Lifetime license and hunter safety course.

You can request a type 0500 hunter safety card online from the TWRA for $5.00. It's a laminated card. -
I remember being in school in the early 90's and being able, per university policy to check my weapons with my dorm's head resident. I'd check the weapon and keep the magazine.

curiosity about my fav tv show helped me find this site
MacGyver replied to Andyshowfan's topic in General Chat
Yeah, that's a great site for ID'ing movie firearms. -
I've got one on a 700 LTR in .308. It's held up just fine after a couple of hundred rounds. All you need to do is simply holding a Mark AR scope to know it's overbuilt for .223

I've been holding up posting pictures while I'm waiting for a suppressor. I'll try and take some pictures of my light shorty in the next day or so. The 10.5" barrel tames it a bit, but with the CTR stock I've got on it right now it's still a handful.

MTBF isn't what it used to be. As a forensics firm, we go throught dozens, if not hundreds of hard drives a year. Though it pains me to say it, they really don't make them like they used to anymore. Nothing makes me madder than having a pretty new drive fail. Since ours generally contain evidence we can't just send them back - it's off to the shredder (which in and of itself is some consolation).
-
If I'm reading your description correctly, you've likely got a hard drive starting to go bad. This is a great time to make sure you've taken the time to back everything up. You're probably going to need them pretty soon.

I'd love to see them get this straightened out soon, but in the meantime, this hog hunter is going to Alabama.

I just started a new Private Security Company

I don't even know what to say. I'd love to see their client list. -
RWS subsonics are the best, most accurate that I've found. They're lubed, and very quiet. CCIs are good. I don't really have any major complaints with the Remington's except that they're not quite as accurate or quiet. CBs and shorts are both super quiet, and shorts have more punch than you'd expect. Neither will cycle the action in a rifle.

Lowes carries Surefire CR123s in pairs for less than $5.00. They're right up by the checkout.

I really like it. It's not particularly cheap, and it does ignite best with a magnum primer which can be tough to source locally, but I find it really consistent, and surprisingly clean. Cleaning the rifle after shooting it is really a breeze. You do have to be careful when first using it, as they measure in "volumetric equivalents" as opposed to grain weight, so substituting 100gr for 100 volumetric equivalents would overcharge your rifle by a third and could be dangerous. You've got to use a 0.70 conversion factor. I've been shooting 300gr TC shockwaves over 70gr(100vu) and it seems to thread the needle and have plenty of power.

This will be my first muzzleloader season. I'm looking forward to it. Going to be using a Traditions Tracker 209 that I picked up on here in order to test the waters. I've been shooting 300gr sabots using Blackhorn209. I'm pretty impressed with the stuff so far.

Wolf has a bad reputation from the days when their cases were lacquered. They were rumored to cause a lot of problems, though I expect in reality, it was one of those "I know a guy" things. So long as you don't plan to reload, shooting steel cased ammo shouldn't cause any problems other than maybe some accelerated extractor wear.

I sure wouldn't want to test it in July!

My Apt Complex says I can't have my gun in the apartment.
MacGyver replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Sound like you need to talk to your roommates about finding a fourth occupant. If you're relaying the whole story, it sounds like you want out, they want you out, and they're probably in a fine position to find another roommate. -
As a kid, one of my favorite thing to do was go to air shows and aviation museums with him, because he had stories about every plane you saw. He flew with the 8th, and the Mighty 8th Museum has a lot of his stuff. He donated a bunch of it a few years before he died. I've got his logbooks in my safe. They're prolific because he continued to fly after the war as a trainer and then for Delta until he retired in the 80s. It's amazing to look at pages from WWII and see page after page of bombing runs. Unlike many, he would talk about it. It's probably as close to an example of "just war" that we have, and I think he saw it that way. We really owe those guys a debt of thanks.

Neat trip! That's a cool museum, too! My grandfather flew over 300 missions in a B-17 during WWII. Flew missions in both theaters, including a bunch of missions in an H model that had a lifeboat atttached instead of bomb. One of my fondest memories with him was getting to fly with him in a B-17 that the Confederate Air Force was moving across the country several years ago. He was in his mid-80s and in failing health, but when that plane pulled of the active runway and taxied up to where we were standing, he may as well have been 18 again. He tossed his walker aside and pulled himself right up in the plane. I keep his IFR "diploma" on the wall in my office.

My Apt Complex says I can't have my gun in the apartment.

I would absolutely find someplace to store it besides my car in the interim. "You can't store it in your apartment, but you can store it in your car" sounds like an invitation to have your car broken into within about a week as soon as some apartment manager with a big mouth goes talking about the guy with the gun. This whole thing, as described is asinine on multiple levels. It sounds like perhaps your weapon storage and securement routine could use some work, but you need to ditch those roommates and that complex in short order. Seriously. Nothing good happens from here as long as you're there. Get out of there. -
Netflix is down another 20% in after hours trading after their earnings call today. Seems they think they're not done hemorraging just yet. At some point it would seem like they're going to lose so much that they may not even be able to sustain their operation.

Lone Wolf Distribution is making a complete lower that takes Glock mags. I haven't picked on up, yet, but I plan to in the near future.
