xd9sc. My wife has shot mine and it fits her very well. You mentioned the xdm pistol, that's larger than the subcompact version.

I'll echo the previous guys comments on the xd pistols. I have 3 now, looking to pick up a 4" xd45 next. They are accurate, easy to carry and shoot, and can be found used at good prices. All mine were bought used and I've been very satisfied with them. BTW, I don't know Rightwinger, except by reputation here, but his offer is a good one. I've thought about picking it up myself. Don't be afraid to pick up this xd at this price, you won't regret it.

If that were not so pathetically true about the intelligence (or lack thereof) of so many of the far left liberals, it would be really hilarious.

I'm not downing the Glock pistols. They seem to be fine weapons; but just like many others say--they just don't seem to suit me. That bring said, I own four Springfield pistols--xd9c xd40,a.357 sig.and a 1911 Operator. all the polymer guns function flawlessly. I've never had even a misfeed with any of them. All very accurate especially the xd9c(surprisingly, since the 3" barrel) and the .357 sig. The .357 sig is a bit stong on recoil, but not excessive. The Operator is a wonderful example of the many fine 1911's available. I bought all of these used and have no issues at all with them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another for the right price. Just my opinion, but I favor the xd line.

Seriously, I used to think that the idea of keeping 1000 rounds of my primary shooting calibers was maybe a little over the top, but now......? I don't "hoard" ammo at the expense of keeping others from buying, but I do have a minimum round count per caliber that I try to maintain and try to use oldest ammo first when range time comes around. Some of my friends called me crazy/fanatic/even panic-driven; but during the last few months of 'shortages' I could go shooting without scrounging the stores or having to pay extravagant prices. And I will continue to buy a few extra boxes as prices and availability comes back to a more normal level.

Absolutely Fantastic! I'm a very rank amature with a camera; but I think the kind of shots you took are the best. People in their natural daily movements are some of the most striking photos possible to take. And yours are wonderful examples. Keep it up.

Man, you guys make me feel old. I don't even recognize sone of the references, but I'll check them out, I haven't found very much musically that I can't appreciate. Currently listening to Marc Cohn from the early 90's-- probably best known for "Walkin' in Memphis" and my personal favorite; "Silver Thunderbird"; which could have been written for and about my father.

Personal opinion, love my xd40 compact. Light, easily carried, very accurate. Also have Taurus Milpro PT140. Good gun. Not as accurate or pleasant to soot as the xd, but usually can be found new/used 75/100 or sometimes more, cheaper. You won't go wrong with either. But go with what fits your hand and feels best, not what is recommended by shop salespeople or any of us. That's just my humble opinion.

I vote for the xd9. All your choices are fine weapons, but the xd is unbelievably accurate for a compact and very easy to shoot even with the newest hot 9mm loads.

NO comments on Usleton's, his reputation speaks for itself. However, Jeff at Guns and Leather has done work for me on a Colt Officers Model and some other firearms. I would not hesitate to use him for custom work.

Just to add my thoughts; I've had two 1st gen Pt145, a Milpro PT145,and a Milpro PT140. All have been extremely accurate and comfortable to shoot/carry. Fired easily a thousand rounds thru each. They feed reliably with everything loaded--fmj/hardball military surplus/reloads and hp; in any weight loaded, Although the Milpro 145 seemed to like 185 gr best, it was more accurate and controllable to reacquire sight picture than with 200 gr loads. But in any event they all fed well with the exception of a weak mag spring with the 1st gen Pt145, and polishing the feed ramp on it made me fell perfectly comfortable with it as a primary carry. And no, I'm not a glock basher. They are fine weapons. I'm just saying the Taurus is a good alternative at a most competative price.

:cool:IMHO, Metalhead has a good point. I did some trading last year and acquired a Springfield Lightweight Loaded Champion Operator (isn't that a mouthfull of a name) and have been very pleased with it. The finish is a little rough but it shoots great and is quite accurate for a commander-size gun. It handles jhp and fmj equally well and has fed eveything I put thru it. My personal favorite shooting load is 185 grain fmj and 185jhp for a carry load. Yeah, some will say that is wimpy, but with the aluminum frame, I like the somewhat lighter load. It's a little higher than the RIA 1911 but well worth it.

Went to Guns&Leather Friday morning. Ran about 100 rounds of 45 thru a S&W 945 and a Springfield LW Operator. Found I need some new mags for the Operator, appears to be old weak springs. I guess it's time for those Wilson Combat mags I've been wanting. Then wound down with a box of 22Mag thru an old S&W Model 48 Combat Masterpiece. ( One of the most fun impulse buys I ever made) I try to go out once a month now, as health issues keep me down more than I'd like. Good Day and Good Shooting to all.

Hey to you guys. Just a little comment from an old fart who is the FNG here. Your info about pistols chambered for the 22 short round is accurate. There have been several auto loaders set up for the round, one of the more notable and well known was the High Standard Olympic Model from the early sixties. And as you would guess from the name, it was a competition quality gun for the period. I have my father's Olympic, it was the first gun he allowed me to fire, and is still one of my most treasured guns. After countless rounds down the barrel by him in matches in the sixties and seventies, I acquired it after his passing and have continued to fire it. It really generates a lot of " What's that? Some kind of toy pistol?" when I take it out. It produces a very distictive and puzzling little popping sound compared to current 22 l/lr production weapons. But it's still a blast to spend time with and has the benefits of being a tack-driver and cheap to shoot.

I'll probably get flack for this, but...low-end pricing, Taurus. I've owned, and still have several--Milliniums in 9/40/45. I have no complaints with them. The 24/7 I've shot and like, but don't own. Can't beat the lifetim warranty, but service can honestly be a little slow. Glocks seem to be just as good as everyone says, but they don't fit my hand. Saw one recommendation for a Kel-tec P9 and can't say I'd agree with it. Bought one as possible carry and absloutely hated the long, long trigger. ( Love the Keltec 32, it's a great little pocket piece, not a target gun by any stetch, but surprisingly accurate to 10+ yards.) I can highly reccommend a used XD9, great aim/sight picture, stunningly accurate for a short barreled gun. I've put 1000+ rounds thru mine without a single hitch. BTW, I bought it used and have bought three more used XD pistols since and all have performed wonderfully-- a 40 tactical, a 4 inch in 357 sig, and an Operator in 45 I know unless you look carefully, the XD's are usually more than you suggested limit, but I"m very satisfied with mine. Having said that, look around, handle and shoot as many as possible, and what fits your hand best usually works best. Good Luck in your hunt; I think you'll know when you hold the right one for you. And you know what we say about all these opinions we're sharing with you.....

I'll echo JHatmakers comments. The 7yard double taps are great. The 15 yard target makes me sick. Some of mine look like 20 yards with a 12 guage round from my wife's Stoger coach gun. When I get camera savy, I'm posting my attempts for you guys to laugh at.

Just a word of caution when looking for and buying a safe. Don't go crazy on buying the biggest/largest out there, but get one a little bigger than you think you need. You will find they fill very quickly with guns, ammo, cameras, jewelry, etc. I know some of the pricing will scare you and make you second-guess yourself, but I know from experience you can't go wrong with a bigger safe, where a too small safe will haunt you. I suggest one with good door fit for keeping humidity levels controlable by golden rods or one of several dessicant types. Some safes are already wired with plugs and lights; that's very handy, but you can do it yourself.
