  1. Very nice!  A CZ-75b was the first pistol I ever bought....still have it.
  2. Too hard to cook this much salmon over a small fire....
  3. If you can't see it from space it's not a real fire! :D
  4. I like mine alot! I first got it for CC but decided I wanted to go smaller, but it's such a well made gun that I've held on to it. next to my Glock 26 highlighting the biggest size difference, the grip length.
  5. Sleeping bag ratings only mean you'll survive when the temps dip to that bag's rating....but you'll be miserable.  Always take a bag warmer than the temps you expect....for 20F temps I'd want a 0F bag.  I'm assuming you have a tent with a rain fly.  Don't forget an insulating ground pad to go under your sleeping bag.   For starting a fire drier lint is good, as are cotton balls soaked in vaseline, even a bag of Fritos.  Hand sanitizer will also help in a pinch.  The problem is usually finding enough dry tinder to maintain the fire until the larger stuff will catch and stay lit.  If it's wet out I might even want to pack a handful of fatwood in a ziploc (usually they'll have boxes of it in the picnic aisle of your grocery store).
  6. Will there still be a gathering on Feb. 8 or did this one supersede it?
  7.   You may be on to something.  I found this earlier.....     "The five worst mass killings, where a firearm was used, have a common thread. Hint #1: They didn’t belong to the NRA. They don’t fit the stereotype of the “red-neck” gun owner.   Check it out … Ft Hood: Registered Democrat/Muslim. Columbine: Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals. Virginia Tech: Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff. Colorado Theater: Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall Street participant; progressive liberal. Connecticut School Shooter: Registered Democrat; hated Christians.   Common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats. Also, of the worst killings in the last several decades, only one was a female, all the rest were boys, barely men. Their role models were rappers, action movies, comics and violent video games."    http://clashdaily.com/2013/01/the-5-worst-mass-murders-in-the-usa-with-a-firearm-came-from-democrats/#ixzz2IZTMGCLI
  8. I wasn't able to get there 'til almost 1:00 and it was already starting to wind down, but here are a few pics.... Me and Hickok....I'm 6'2" btw.
  9. Gonna drum up his army of low-info voting useful idiots it seems...   http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/01/17/Obama-admin-permanent-campaign?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BigGovernment+%28Big+Government%29
  10. I got this version of the response this evening.

  12.   I hope these hunters realize they're just being used as pawns.  The left sees the hunting community as the easiest to peel away from the 2A supporting community....all just part of their divide and conquer strategy.  Why just hunters?  Why not shooting sports enthusiasts or CCW permit holders?  Too many Fudds are ambivalent about this....after all, who needs an AR-15?  Of course, after the AR's are gone that scoped hunting rifle just became a high-powered sniper rifle.  I mean who really needs one of those to hunt?  All you really need is a muzzleloader or a single-shot shotgun.      :ugh:
  13. "A collaborative effort of 27 pro-gun state and national organizations has formed to fight against any federal gun bans."   http://dailycaller.com/2013/01/04/gun-organizations-unite-to-stop-gun-ban/     I wonder if the TFA would want to join in on this effort....(I tried to login on their forum to post but had problems.)
  14. Yup.   So far I've just gotten an auto-response from Corker.
  15. The folks over on a UT board I frequent have spoken highly of Archers recently, but I haven't eaten there...yet. http://archersbbq.com/ Dead End I thought was great the first time I ate there a couple of year ago but each of the last few times I've been there it seemed to steadily go downhill. Stale, dried out buns, cold fries, and the last (and final) time the unpardonable...dried out pulled pork. I haven't been there since last fall though so maybe they've improved.
  16. The G26, which I have, is 26 oz. loaded. The SP101 loaded is 29 oz. (with Federal 158 gr. JSP). They both carry well. The SP101 always felt heavier to me....perhaps it has to do with how they balance. I'll stand by my personal experience. FWIW, I wouldn't want a snubnose lighter than the SP101 for firing .357.
  17. I have carried both a 2.25" barrel SP101 and a Glock 26. Each is very comfortable IWB. The SP101 I carried in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake using the inside/out straps. The SP101 is heavy for its size, especially compared to the Glock. As always, a high quality gun belt is key.
  18. Sorry to hear about your loss. Just last night I had a dream about my Brittany Spaniel, Bailey and we were walking through the park like old times....and she's been gone for nearly two years. Every now and then I have a dream about her like that and it's like being visited by an old friend. Hang in there.
  19. 2-groove. I've read that the stacking rod indicates it spent some time in Turkey. The Brits didn't use those. I had to replace about $70 worth of small parts to get her back into fighting shape.
  20. I also picked one up when they were cheap. Guess I should've bought a couple more. Turns out it is one the Yugos refurbished, making it a little bit different. The stock is marked 1.TRZ and is oil-finished instead of having that red shellac.
  21. If only I could pop this one in the front yard!

    Hiking Pistola?

I came across this bear in NC last year. I think it was after all the blueberries that were on the ridge around us. It stood its ground after spotting me and huffed once or twice. I backtracked slowly. Oh, and I had my .357 SP101 on me at the time but I didn't feel threatened. I've run into hogs a couple of times and they just ran the other way.

  24. Below are pics of a Savage No. 4 Mk I* I picked up a few years ago. It seems like the supply of milsurps has dried up a bit the last year or two...except for Mosin 91/30's. SOG had some Enfields earlier this year, but I don't know what kind of shape they were in, or if they still have any.
  25. FWIW, here are a couple of threads about panther sightings in the Smokies. Griztrax is a site dedicated to hiking in Southern Appalachia. Wild Country :: View topic - mountain lions Wild Country :: View topic - Panthers! Enjoy!
