  1. "One second After" By William R. Forstchen Saw this today and have been reading up on it on the web. I read a couple of pages on lunch it it drew me in pretty quick. It's about life after an EMP attack in a small town in North Carolina. It also seem that the leader character has a daughter that has Type I Diabetes so he has to manage that situation as well. Has anyone read this book? It looks really good. I'm pretty sure I'm buying it when I get off from work.
  2. I agree. I can't help but think they will be bitter after losing the House (and hopefully the senate) and will make a mad dash to push everything they can before the door closes. Including gun legislation. Just seems like we will be in a tough spot for the next few years. It will take time to build back.
  3. She reminds me of the Penguin from Batman.

    My Maadi Ak

I really need to do this to my wife's Maddi. That really looks nice!
  5. Can't speak about the mag carriers form Condor... we've only bought one item from them. The EMT Rip Away Pouch. So far my son has used it everyday opening and closing it at least three times a day plus dragging it back and forth to and from school plus when we go out and it as held up great. (Better than I thought it would really, but then agian we've only had it for a couple of months. Time will tell.) I wouldn't hesitate buying anything else from them. But then again, no one is shooting at me and my funds are pretty limited right now. If you expect to really put it through some really heavy use I'd pay more and buy what I want. If your just gonna use it every now and then, or just for a class or two... then you make the call on how much you want to spend and the quality for limited actual use. Just my two cents...
  6. my son is 13... he's thinking about going to it when he is in high school. I think he'll like it better as well.
  7. @Justbo1901... how long you been using the pump? My son has thought about giving it a try in a couple of years.
  8. Ughh... kb4ns speaks true. When big tree sprouts more green... treat self to "benefactor".
  9. First off... yes... I need to get off my cheap butt and pay for Benefactor status, and yes this is the one example of why you SHOULD have a TGO membership so you don't waste your time with crap like this. (I am posting this because I think it is funny, NOT to try and sell anything. I have deleted the item, and will NOT to respond to ANY private messages asking what the item is. Fair is fair.) I tried to sell something on Craigslist and ended up meeting Tarzan. (He is alive and doing well in Kentucky.) Time line: 12:20pm - 3:05 pm Emails exchanged: 22 (My thoughts during this exchange are in Blue.) Tarzan> u still have ******** (Deleted item) cost 500.00 thank you Me> Yes. Do you want to see higher res pictures? Tarzan> yes please see picture Tarzan> where u live ? Tarzan> please need your address and ur phone number we intering in ur boat thank!! (Hmmm... guy must be emailing from a phone or something or is in a hurry.) Me> Can meet you in a parking lot in Franklin with the boat. The price is $500 cash. (Oh crap... I'm starting to do it now!) Tarzan> what time do u want meet us?? Tarzan> can meet at food lion parking lot? (Hmmm... "Us"... guess there is two of 'em. That or maybe schizophrenic? Doesn't matter long as the money is good..) Me> I can meet you in the Food Lion (in Franklin on Carothers Pkwy) Parking lot Tuesday through Friday. What ever day works best for you, pretty flexible with a time. Tarzan> what about today?? is it ok with u?? or give me ur phone number please (Okay... are you just anti-verb? Not that there is anything wrooong with that. Hmmmm... Why do you have to have a ********* TODAY! Your starting to creep me out "anti-verb-man" can't see me giving you my cell. Nope.) Me> I can meet you today, but I won't be able to get there till about 7:30 tonight. Tarzan> i need ur phone number so i will call u by right now (WOW! "Need"... no I don't think you "NEED" my number, but you do REALLY want my number... bad. Wonder if he talks any better than he types? Nahhhh.... no cell number is going to happen.) Me> At work. Can't come down on price. Got any questions I can answer them via email. Tarzan> we will meet u at 7 30 if you cant make it call me before 6 30 pm ***-***-****(Deleted Phone Number) (Okay... now where getting somewhere. Still... the "we" part is a little weird. Bahhh... maybe not.) Me> Will Do... Meet you at 7:30 tonight... Food Lion Parking Lot in Franklin on Carothers Pkwy... If I can't make it, I'll call you before 6:30pm @ ***-***-**** I'll be in a Red F-150 with *************** strapped in the back of it. LOL!! Tarzan> deal!! (Well... that only took forever. Hmmmm... don't feel to good about this. Better make a call, get a buddy to ride "shotgun" with me. Guy just seems kinda weird. Can't trust a man that is afraid of verbs.) (40 minutes later) Tarzan> u live franklin ky ? Me> No... Franklin Tn. (You gotta' be kidding me?!? You just gotta be!!!) Tarzan> meet in franklin,tn? or franklin,ky? (Oh my goodness... he's serious! Better spell this out. I'll type it out slow, I don't think he can read fast.) Me> I am located in Franklin Tn. That is where I thought we were to meet. At the Food Lion, in Franklin Tn... on Carothers Parkway. Are you in Kentucky, and did you think we were meeting in Franklin Kentucky? (I know what the answer is going to be... but I gotta hear it from him. I just gotta!!!) Tarzan> yeah we think we live kentucky we live bowling green ky sorry cant meet u (What!?!? "We Think we live in Kentucky?" It's the state of Kentucky!! Not the state of Denial! Though some may want to be in denial about it... enough is enough.) Me> No problem. Have a good week. (Bless his heart. I really need to throw the money out for a TGO membership soon. This is tragically sad. So... so... very sad.) I'm not trying to be jerk... this was just kind of funny to me. (I do give my number out when selling something, just not to guys that refuse to use verbs.)
  10. That's exactly what me and my wife are talking about doing. We have a year round creek at the house that is spring fed and stays very cold... but was little use during the flood! Hahaha!!
  11. I hear you. I have a son that is insulin dependent. Though we keep a few months on hand... it has to be kept cold. Then there are the test strips, needles, pen caps, gluc tablets, etc. that goes along with it. Can't "fake" insulin. We lost power for just a day and by the third hour my wife was already starting to worry about the extra insulin in the fridge. Though it was fine she couldn't help but let her mind run with her. "What if no power for 2 days, 3, days a week?" etc. I guess guys like us, I hate to say it but we just have to plan for the worst and hope for the best.
  12. Just another added value to owning a "TGO" hat.
  13. I threw a few extra items in my bag as well... for now. Going to slowly put a better one together over the next few months. I raided my Backpacking stuff.
  14. This has made me think more seriously about a simple "Get Home Bag" for the truck I must admit.
  15. Did a little surfing on the net and found an interesting powerpoint you can download... the first part talks about accidents, but then the bulk after that goes on to talk about Off Shore (and oil fields) security threats, responses and suggestions. Doesn't looks like a private industry assessment.
  16. Why would they send SWAT teams to "investigate"? Seems like that is out of their area of expertise. They don't seem like the ones that should be investigating anything. Seems like "Defending", or checking to see how well other rigs are secure is more in their area. Could this have been an "Eco-Terrorist" attack gone wrong? How safely are these rigs secured? Could they be considered a potential target for other terrorist organizations? Just kind of wondering out loud...
  17. Got a condor "EMT Rip Away Pouch" for my son. We all love it and it's holding up great. He drags it back and forth to school everyday. \ We're both wanting to see the movie. Can't wait till it is out on DVD.
  18. That would be awesome! Let him know he is not out of his mom's and mine sinister clutches.
  19. My cousin is in BUDs training now. (Class 282) He's hanging in there and has about another week before Hell week I think. We sent him a small care package of snack and stuff. Here's a quick sketch I did to throw into the box. He said the instructors are pretty hard on them. Needless to say, I'm VERY proud of him. Go 292!!!
  20. Got a USPc in .357 sig. Love it. (Also like the .45 acp) Shot a mini glock in .357 sig a while back. Very controllable. Nothing like what I had heard. (And I have small girlly hands btw.) Ammo is not that hard to find. 99% of the time Wally word has Win White Box FMJ for about $24 bucks. When ammo dried up they had it in stock almost all the time. Georgia Arms has a really good price if you can buy in bulk. 1000rds for $300 bucks. Really like the cartridge. But beware... chicks really dig guys who shoot that caliber. It's a known internet fact.
  21. No velcor either... and I LOVE mine!

    Justified

I'll have to admit... I have been watching it and it is starting to grow on me.
