Yes... and no... it mainly effects it's effectiveness. I would hate to try and manage dosage ratios with insulin that is getting weak. • Insulin maximum storage temps refrigerated are 36-46ºF • Insulin storage at Room Temperature is 59-86ºF (And that is basically for a month, after that it starts to lose effectiveness.) My Son is Type I, (Insulin Dependent) and was the same age as the girl in the book. To make matters extra creepy I went ona vacation to Western NC to see family while reading it and wasn't but an hour and a half away from where it was set inthe book. want a little EXTRA creepy? We were caught in Bonaroo traffic and saw miles of cars on the side of the road, some being pushed, people walking with gas cans. Reminded me about the scene of the interstate in the book LOL! My old "TGO" review of the book can be found HERE...

This was one of the most unnerving books I had ever read. It just about made me depressed for a week after reading it. Probably the most gut wrenching thing I have ever read... I knew what was coming, but just kept hoping against hope that it wouldn't. Then it did. It's bothered me ever since. Needless to say... I am very anal about having extra insulin and supplies on hand now. More so than ever. But no matter how much I was to get... it's still not enough. I pray we never encounter such a thing in my life time. EMP's are now the "thing" that goes bump in the night for me.

Relieve boredom. Just kidding... I suppose to help start a fire.

I have a USPc in Variant 1 and really like it. Been carrying it since about 2000. The full size USP just doesn't kit my tiny baby like hands. The USPc did. I've had no problems out of mine at all. No malfunctions, but it's .357 sig so the bottle neck has got to help some I would think. I would guess I am approaching the 2k round range now. To be honest with you as well as myself, if the S&W M&P line had been out then or I hadn't had such an anti-Glock bias back then... I would probably be carrying one or the other right now. If I was to choose today... I might be leaning heavy towards the the M&P. H&K makes great guns. Glad I have it. But you do pay a price.

3:00-4:00... CompTac Minotaur MTac, USP compact. On very long drives, like to Florida... I sometimes use my old fobus paddle holster. Mainly becuase for a paddle it's easy to get on and off and if it starts to bug me I can attach it to my driver's side door down low by the cup holder (Expedition). Where you keep maps and crap. It just happens to fit there really well by luck.

That is what gets me about the PSP (or Squeeze cockers) is that I have noticed that the higher end makers still make them but they are a bit higher. Most affordable I would guess would be Bladetech IWB for $70 bucks... just guessing. Another thing that bugs me is the cost of extra mags for these... they seem to run around $65-75 bucks. But I still like them.

I hate being broke... I really want one of these. Great price.

+100 I thought the art was better in the first, but the story was so well written that it made me easy to adapt to the new artist. Best character development I have ever seen in a graphic novel.

I really liked it. So far it is holding true to the graphic novels. (Just a tad different... nothing major though.)

4 pros share some ideas on home defense, equip, tactics
creeky replied to graycrait's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yeah... there is a lot you can do to your home on a Saturday and $50-$100 bucks worth of stuff from Home Depot that would serve you well. Not stop someone from getting in, but very able to slow them down and cause them to be louder than they would want to be. -
But he was friendly enough to point it out with his comment... so I'll give a "Gold Star" for showing up, and a "Double Secret Zinc Star w/clusters" for making it to the "TGO Thread of Shame" by having a Thread started about him.

I bought mine from CDNN while they had a sale on them. 2 pack of 22rd mags for $19.99...
-
Just cosmetically I understand.(I have the rifle version as well.) Oh yeah... buy extra mags!

I have a GSG-5 I bought used. A pre-lawsuit one. Works great and a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be. I mainly run Remington or Federal ammo through it with no problems. Around the 300 rd. mark I take a toothbrush and run it up the mag well and in the ejection port to do a quick scrub and oil. Mine I have noticed likes to run a little wet. My boys really love it. I call it my "Fake & K". LOL!!

Will do! Thanks guys! I need to take some better pictures. The other mask turned out better I think. At Church we have a Trunk or Treat after services and my son decorates the back of our SUV a shooting range for Nerf guns! LOL! I'll try and get pictures of that as well.

(Mods... this is sort of Firearm related, if it is not enough please move. Thanks!) Little something I worked on last night. My son (13) wanted to go as "Ghost" from Modern Warfare II video game for Halloween. He saved up his money and bought a Tactical Chest Rig and Mag Pouches and a few other little goodies. I found some black one hole ski masks and started to paint them. (The youngest (11) wants to go as "Soap" but also wanted a "Ghost" mask as well for Airsoft stuff. Any hoo... here we go. (Forgive please, crappy cellphone picts my camera is dead .) I used a generic fabric paint from a "Jo Ann's" store. One bottle of an off white. Seemed to have a little brown in it which was perfect. I had planned on mixing a "dirty" white anyway. Then I bought a small bottle of regular white for the highlights. Stuffed one of those weird "fancy" foo-foo pillows that sits on the bed and we don't ever use to stuff it in the mask to paint. Paint applied well, took a little getting used to though. Used Internet pictures for references. Hairdryer to help speed up drying before adding the highlights. My son trying it on. Doesn't look half bad... if I do say so myself. Then he decided to throw on some of his "Ghost" stuff and I took a few pictures. "Ghost" after a hard day at the office... just Tactically kick'n back and watching a little "Tactical TeeVee". LOL!! (First time I picked up a brush in a while.)

I have a good friend with a CDP Pro II that I get to shoot from time to time. Just love it. Hope to be able to get one... one day.

It wouldn't surprise me.

When I shot my friends Ruger Carbine in .40 it did great knocking steel plates down at bout 30 feet (FMJ). When I shot the same steel targets with my .357 lever, it knocked them down all right... but my hollow points went right threw the 1/4" steel plates as well. I couldn't believe it!
-
I shot a friends Ruger PC4 in .40sw a few months back. Shot very well, handled and balanced great. Shooting steel targets was like nothing. Just walk them down. It was a very fun little carbine to shoot.

I like to think there are bad parts of every city. A fact of life. You just need to know where it is smart to go and where not to go. Common sense more than anything.

They would be cool Punsher84! Didn't even think about that. We were a little pressed for time cause we were visiting friends there. But we will be going back. Already talking about it for next year. One thing did surprise me though... the HUGE police presence in Germantown! WOW! At one point I passed 5 cops in 1 mile on Poplar Rd. And they are SERIOUS about 40mph. Nice area, lots of gated communities there. We also visited the "Vinyl Shop?" next to Mister Hats. Neat stuff in there. The wife bought boys some "Modern Warfare" throws on sale there. Wanted to drop by rangemasters just to take a look, but just didn't have the time. Naw... no problems at all. Heck! I didn't even need to call in air support or even an air strike. <sigh> Carried that infrared strobe and didn't even get to use it. LOL!!!
-
That is what I had heard. We passed by right after they closed on Saturday, then they weren't open Sunday. Gong to make sure and hit it next time though.

Thanks for all the advice we had a ball in Memphis. Ended up staying in Germantown. Kids had a ball and everyone was really nice. Couldn't have asked for better weather. Just wish "Mister Hats" had been open. Maybe next time.
