  1. That's a shame they put up a sign. Been up there half a dozen times and would like to stay at the Lodge sometime. Enjoy your hike! If you still have breath and energy at the top, take the additional stroll out to Myrtle's Point or other ridge overlooks--WOW!
  2. What time do you want me to drop by? I'll bring the cheese! Oh wait, I'm several hours away--drat!
  3. Thanks for posting these!
  4. Pics? And what door did you take it out of? I've been following your posts and might go grab one, too, if they've got any remaining...
  5. Wondering if anyone has shot any of Georgia Arms' 45 Colt and/or their "canned heat" bulk 45 Colt ammo? Hard to beat near 49 cents/rd, but if it's no good, then I'll have to probably learn how to reload! That would win over continuing to pay more like 64 cents/rd. And I'm down to less than 500 rds in 45 Colt!! Aaaaahhhhhhhhh! (cue sounds of women and children screaming and crying!). Thanks ahead of time for any opining...
  6. Welcome, fellow K-towner! And appreciate your service, too.
  7. My G19 has eaten all forms of the Bears and Wolf. Not one problem. Good for plinking, righ? Just got the Cheaper Than Dirt! Catalog today in the mail, and saw where Wolf and the Bear stuff is really priced good, if they have it (double-check website). Enjoy!
  8. If this will help, I was a first-time shooter about 10 years ago and only a friend taking me got me into shooting for good. Had he been total hard-ass on me, I probably would have never taken up the sport/hobby, and may have ended up being anti-2A. I work completely surrounded by anti's, so it would have been easy. Here's what he did with me: 1. All the safety stuff that everyone has already mentioned. 2. I shot only revolvers and rifles, and he loaded and handed to me each time until HE determined that I was being safe and knew which end of the gun faced forward--LOL! After that, off the line, he showed me how to properly load, keep fingers clear, etc... 3. Stood right behind me and to my shooting side hand, and said that if he EVER put his hand on my shoulder, it meant STOP, point the weapon at the ground, and booger picker OFF the trigger and outside the guard. I took him seriously b/c he was a friend, and an ex-marine! 4. He was patient, and expressed how much he enjoyed shooting, encouraged me when I even hit the target, and told me how much fun I would have if only I would be safe and would listen and learn. If I had been unwilling to listen and learn, he would have dropped me like a bag of dirt. BUT, he made it an enjoyable day and wasn't so insecure that he had to "show off" what a good or smart shooter he was. He knew that he knew alot about shooting and guns, but didn't have to prove it to me by being degrading or condescending. As others have said, he didn't get to shoot hardly at all that day, am I'm grateful for his patience and unselfishness. I did pay for the ammo and range fees, too. Above all, we had a good time, and now I'm a shooter for the rest of my life! HTH, for what it's worth...
  9. Hey, that is great! I, too, would like to have a Winchester--some day. For now, I got a cheapo '92 in 45 Colt that I'm loving to death. I'll take your journey to give me hope!! Enjoy it soon!
  10. Six free passes? I bought two guns from them a couple of weeks ago and only got two! Jeez Louise I'm getting soft!
  11. Can't bring myself to purchase it, though it'd be fun to assemble with my nephew. Means I'd have to give up $$ for ammo, so maybe later--ha!
  12. They continue to confuse me on what they're thinking.
  13. Welcome to TGO and come to TN whenever possible!
  14. Welcome from a fellow Karns-ian..... If I can get out of work on Sat, I might see you at CCA if that's where you head. Ditto on Austin's--got my AR from there and love it! Have a great time with the new baby!
  15. Welcome!
  16. Runningfree beat me to it!! I've been wanting to go to the John Sevier range myself! Here's another link that lists a bunch of places and what's available. The link may not be updated, haven't checked it in a while. Tennessee Gun Firing Ranges Archery Range Rifle Pistol Shooting
  17. Coal Creek Armory has the following on their website. I shoot my 22LR and 45 Colt rifles there, in addition to shotgun slugs only (no shotshell). The other stuff is probably going to be outdoors at Norris, John Sevier, ORSA, etc. From CCA: "The range is pistol caliber only. Long guns in pistol calibers, such as 22wmr, .45 Colt, and .30 Carbine, may be used. Rifle calibers, such as .223, .375 H&H, and .308, are not permitted on the range. In general, bottleneck or high powered rifle cartridges are not permitted. Also S&W .460 handguns are not permitted." HTH a little... Others on here can chime in with more details, I'm sure.
  18. Never carried one, but loved my .40. Sold it last week and kinda miss it now..... Oh well, have funding for other things now! Will consider getting more in the future--had zero probs.
  19. Now, that's funny! Thanks for the chuckle!
  20. Another good home found. Congrats! Go back and get the G19 when you can!
  21. I have used them multiple times but only if they're the "cheapest" act in town. Great service, but yes, they really jacked up the prices on some things, not others, and it changes.... I'll be a return customer if the price is right. Does this make me an Ammo Whore?
  22. Congrats! I just got a 23 last week myself. They are sweeet! Enjoy!
  23. Since the references are to kids with little/no experience, I'm wondering if there is a video game connection????? Maybe I'll dust off the Nintendo 64 and Rainbow Six, then go to the range and see what happens.
  24. Welcome!
