Some friends and I invented a game that involves shooting golfballs. You tee off at 10 feet, and have 5 shots to get the ball down to the 50 foot mark, so I am shooting from 10 to 50 feet. It's loads of fun, but those things sure seem little when you have it way out near the 50' mark. When we go to longer ranges with rifles it's normally coke cans or something. We shoot paper too, but I spend a lot more time with the instant gratification targets than is probably productive.

I spend most of my time entertaining, but have spent enough time taking courses at Rangemaster to feel confident in my "training." Federal law enforcement is my current career plan, so I'll get plenty real tactical training when the time comes, for right now I spend most of my time shooting at golfballs and stuff.

I cannot come up with any reasonable ways to abuse a serial number from a gun, but I am constantly surprised with the schemes that devious minds come up with.

I was gonna say stay away from fad cartridges, but if Rabbi says it's a good idea, I'd listen to him. The man knows a thing or two about wheel guns.

I also carry a full size 1911 with no problem. I am 6'5" though, so that might make a difference.

If I wanted a 1911 styel gun in 9mm I'd get a Browning High Power.

By the way, I have giant hands and I still like slim pistols.

The guns that you mentioned that you do like seem to be relatively thin, while the ones you don't like are all kinda big and clunky.

Although Rabbi and I don't agree on whether or not "rights" exist, it is definitely true that the state of Tennessee does not acknowledge your right to carry without a permit. If you carry without one and don't get caught, then you'll be fine. If you do get caught, it is possible that you'll be in big trouble. It's a decision you have to make on your own. I can say that if you end up in a life or death situation you will probably not regret having a gun on you, legal or not, but it is up to you to honestly assess your odds of being in a life or death situation and weigh them against the potential costs of getting caught. If you do decide to carry illegally, you might not want to write about it on the internet. My father once told me never to put anything in writing that I wouldn't want to see on the front page of the paper. It seems like a good rule to me.

Another 642, but I carry Hydra-shok +P rounds that I bought before it occured to me that +P probably doesn't make a lot of difference in a barrel that short, just more muzzle flash.

I never had any problems with my Galco Royal Guard leather IWB, and do not notice a big difference between it and my CTAC. The Galco does hold the pistol over the entire gun whereas the CTAC only holds the trigger guard, but it doesn't pull my pants up like in the video.

Correct me if I am wrong, but in a combat zone where it is much more likely that your enemy is wearing body armor wouldn't FMJ have a clear advantage over hollow point ammunition?

Sweet, I've lubed the bolt carrier and will go pick up some new mags tomorrow.

That's what I was thinking too. Any thoughts on the bolt issue? I'm pretty sure I did something wrong to make that happen, but I'm not sure what.
