He's not looking to buy a shooter, he's looking to buy a rifle. If we're factoring in the shooter to the equation then your $3500 rifle might not shoot 80 inch groups at 800 yards.
-
1 moa at 800 yds is an 8 inch group. That's a pretty damn tight group. I have access to an stock Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Magnum that can shoot groups near .5 MOA, and didn't cost over $3000.
-
I have access to a Springfield M1a National Match that shoots well under MOA off of a bipod, but it's a semi auto so I didn't mention it. I don't see any reason that you have to spend $3000 for a rifle that can shoot MOA, but it'll cost more than $300 for sure.

letters to editor in News Sentinel today
Im Neero replied to Mike.357's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well said. -
I cannot vouch for the difference between the Savage and Weatherby, but the Remington 700 is a fantastic rifle. I would go for something in .308, it is a fine caliber that can yield accuracy at the ranges you are talking about. In my opinion the .300 magnum and 7mm magnum really don't show a significant advantage until you start getting into 1000 yard competitions, which I don't know anyone that actually does. There is also absolutely nothing wrong with 30-06, plenty of snipers in vietnam did well with deer rifles in 30-06 out to ranges farther than any of us are likely to encounter in our state.

Collierville is safe and sound as far as I can see. The Hickory Ridge mall damage caused all kinds of traffic congestion in the morning. Apparently they had to close the entire area around the mall to prevent looting, go figure

Im Neero replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As soon as they start in on their line say "Aww man, I'm so glad you're here! Ya see, my serpentine belt broke, can I borrow $20 for a new one? -
If you put it that way I agree completely.

??? All that the email claims is that there was a spike in crime a year after the gun ban. That is verified. The major drops in crime didn't occur until around 2001-2002, 5 to 6 years after the gun ban. I don't know what caused the drops in crime, but it probably wasn't the 96 gun ban, which is the point in question. This would be a good time to try and reframe your argument, but if you want I can provide more evidence that the gun buy-back program did not result in a decrease in crime and the increases cited in the e-mail truly did occur.

How is this for verification? http://www.aic.gov.au/stats/crime/robbery.html http://www.aic.gov.au/stats/crime/assault.html http://www.aic.gov.au/stats/crime/homicide.html They all show a spike after 1996.

I had this game on my pc in the late 90s, but it was gorillas throwing exploding banannas over skyscrapers. It's just as fun now as it was then.

I read the same thing at Snopes, Mama. They don't discount anything, they just go on a tangent about how statistics can be manipulated. It looks like something that the Brady Campaign would write.

There shouldn't be any down fall to those magazines, they're actually "standard capacity", but due to some states gun law's Glocks ship with 10 round reduced capacity mags. The ones you have now should work fine, they're the original design.

When I got my 642 my father told me about the point shooting technique where you point with your index and pull with your middle finger. He showed me how it worked, and then when I tried it we both noticed that my index finger extended past the barrel. This technique might not be the best for big hands and small guns.

Wow, that's a drag, gotta love that Memphis weather

Piano Mover / Philosophy Major Guess which one is more lucrative.

Welcome from Collierville. Where are you planning on attending law school? I have a year left as an undergrad and then I'm headed to law school as well.

Silver Star Awarded to National Guardsman from North Carolina
Im Neero replied to Im Neero's topic in General Chat
Sorry Mike, upon further thought, regardless of my intent the comment did come off a different way than I meant it. It has been changed. Mark: If I said what you thought I was saying, then you should've been as harsh as you wanted too. Sarcasm doesn't always work over the internet like it would otherwise. -
Silver Star Awarded to National Guardsman from North Carolina
Im Neero replied to Im Neero's topic in General Chat
Sorry if there was any confusion Mark. This soldier is a brave man that deserves the honor that he has been given. -
I love to hear that, Anders. Most internet forums are full of people pretending like they actually need a scope that can withstand fast roping from a helicopter into 30 foot seas or being run over by an abrams tank in the desert.

This guy is an example of a true warrior, a certain "operator" in Camden could learn a thing or two about how the real deal handles such a situation. http://www.10-8forums.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=62367&Main=62367#Post62367 As the insurgents fired on the soldiers, Aragon, the gunner, continued to fire back on his .50-caliber machine gun, according to the narrative accompanying the Silver Star. But enemy fire penetrated the vehicle and Haas was shot through his right thigh. When the vehicle came to a stop, Herring saw several other attackers spraying machine-gun fire at his vehicle from less than 165 feet away. Realizing that Aragon was facing the opposite direction, Herring jumped out of the Humvee and shot and killed two enemy machine gunners. the other insurgents abandoned their positions and ran to nearby buildings. Meanwhile, a disabled Iraqi vehicle blocked the other troops from moving forward to help Herring and the soldiers in his truck. As Herring assessed the situation, he realized Haas was in need of immediate medical attention. Herring said he feared the bullet had hit Haas’ femoral artery. “He immediately turned white and he couldn’t drive,” Herring said. “With complete disregard for his personal safety and under constant well-aimed small-arms and machine-gun fire and a volley of rocket-propelled grenades, CW3 Herring exited the relative safety of the vehicle for a second time,” according to the narrative. “He was knocked to the ground by the concussion of an impacting rocket-propelled grenade, but got up and continued to fire and maneuver, alone, with only his vehicle gunner to provide suppressive fire to get to the driver’s side.” When he got there, Herring placed Haas in the back seat so the medic, Sgt. 1st Class John Masson, could continue to treat him, then climbed into the driver’s seat, advised his higher headquarters of the situation, called for medical evacuation and drove the vehicle back to Forward Operating Base Gabe. “As a result of his decisive and heroic actions, CW3 Herring swung the tide of the engagement against a prepared enemy, killing many and preventing other members of the combined force from being killed or wounded,” according to the narrative.

Brent, Monk and Trane together is about as good as it gets for that genre. I didn't realize that they had found new material from those two, I'll have to check that out.

Well darn Mars, I saw the tread title and was hoping that I could be the first person to mention OCMS. Big Iron World has lived in my car cd player for almost a year now. Since you took my first choice I'll go with Steely Dan's "Showbiz Kids" as the song of the minute.

You didn't mention cursing at it. Try that.
