  1. Sale runs through 4-27, the friday before your class. They can also be bought at Woodcraft.com and Amazon.com. I'd like to try pens myself, just don't have a lathe or much lathe experience.
  2. The kits at Woodcraft are currently on sale for $9.99 for any style knife. I bought one of each, this is the Hunter. I used an interesting bit of walnut I had to make the scales. I dusted them with a light coat of lacquer to see the finished color, but plan on doing a little more shaping before finishing. I'm pretty pleased with the feel, if I can find a sheath, I may carry this one around a bit. Not bad for $10.
  3. This guy stabbed a mountain lion that attacked his son. http://cnn.com/video...ttack.kosa.html
  4. One of my favorites. Tan scales look great.
  5. Got to experience this for myself after breaking the "medium screwdriver" (aka prybar) off my Wave. Less than two weeks after I mailed it to Portland, I received a refurbished Wave in the mail. I was initially a little disappointed in not getting MY wave tool back (which they do ask if your tool has sentimental value on the return form), but I got over that real quick when I realized I essentially got a brand new one (sharp blades, new screwdriver tips, etc.) All in all a great experience except for all of the times I reached for it and didn't have it during those two weeks. Here's the link to Leatherman's return policy page: Leatherman Warranty: North America
  6. I spent a long time thinking that "they" was a group of people plotting in a dark, smokey room somewhere. "They" controlled everything and had a master plan. However, I was struck with the same observation that someone mentioned above. How could such a group of people, inevitably needing to control and persuade so many other people in order to enact their plans, keep this a secret? Would this not suggest such a vast network of conspirators that it would be impossible to go undetected? Certainly, this could not be the case. How could so many people be united in pursuing a common goal? I cannot believe this. What I do believe is that there are dark streaks in human nature. We see evidence of them everyday. Everyone of us is subject to them. The only difference between anyone of us is how we act on them and what means we have to act on them. A desperate man may invade your home, a powerful man may simply take it from you. This side of human nature is undeniable. Our founding fathers knew this. They knew that too much power in the hands of too few people was bound give way to these traits. That's why they gave the majority of the power to the people and very little power to the federal government (and they even split that up between the 3 branches). It was intentionally setup to avoid what has happened over and over and over throughout human history, a consolidation of power that ultimately benefits very few and harms the majority. It was a great plan. but I think we've screwed that up. The founding fathers left it up to us, the people, to make sure this didn't happen. So, yes, there are a lot of conspiracy theories about secret meetings and hidden agendas, etc. (and I'm not saying there aren't psychos out there who do this) but it's our JOB! I'd rather see overly paranoid people than people who are not paying attention at all! The worst part is, I think we actually made it worse. We have such a horrible addiction to being "protected" by our government. Every time someone slips or a baby chokes we BEG for more laws, regulations, agencies, etc. We beg for it. What's hard to comprehend is that every time we do this we are relinquishing just a little more power over our own lives to the government. We are giving it away. It's like saying, "We're too f'n stupid to take care of ourselves, will you please tell us what to do and what not to do.". So, maybe nobody is plotting to detain US citizens or go gun snatching, but it is extremely dangerous to think that we can have a consolidation of power in one place and someone won't eventually come along and take advantage of it. Read a history book, it's almost guaranteed to happen. It's amazing to me that after just 235 years we have imagined ourselves immune from the potential lurking in our very nature that is so evident everywhere else in the world. This is who (or what) "they" are. They can be everywhere and nowhere. They can control any man without his knowledge. They can make a man a part of a conspiracy that he does not know exists. I hope I made the f'n list. Stay Vigilant.
  7. Not sure where the "Newsworthy Reports" section went, so I'll put this here. Here's the link if that's still ok to do. I'd copy the text, but not sure if that's kosher either. Gun sales at record levels, according to FBI background checks - CNN.com
  8. Yeah, that's gonna cost you. However, they are just as easy to sell as they are to buy.
  9. I'm with Rob, I don't go a day without using my wave. Glad to know if it ever breaks, the company actually stands behind their product and serves their customers. Not only that, but they make a product worth servicing. Thanks for the write up.
  10. I copied that text from that site for quick specs! The seller on ebay didn't go into great detail about it. I had to do some searching for specs. There are a few for sale on ebay from a different seller for $27.
  11. I was looking for a little brother to my Buck 110, looking at the Buck 112 "Ranger", and came across this discontinued Kershaw instead. It's much slimmer and much lighter than the 110. Not my typical edc type knife, but still really nice! MAKER: Kershaw PATTERN: Wyatt, #2605 BLADE ETCH: None CLOSED LENGTH: 4-3/8 inches BLADE LENGTH: 3-1/4 inches BOLSTERS: Brass SHIELD: None HANDLES: Rosewood BLADES: Single clip blade LINERS: Brass TANG STAMPS: Front: Kershaw rear: KAI/2605 JAPAN AGE: Made in 1992 MADE IN: JAPAN ADDITIONAL INFO: This rare Kershaw was only made for one year. It was made circa 1992. This is a must for the Kershaw collector. As with all Kershaws, it is an excellent knife to use or carry. This is a good sized knife for someone with big hands or a big cutting job to accomplish. k
  12. Our friend mousegunner passed away Friday night (9/2/11). Please continue to pray for the family.
  13. Nice! I have the same Mini-grip. it's a good knife, the axis does take a little getting used to. I can't wait to get my first Esee.
  14. Oh No! There's a peck with an acorn pointed at me. Help!
  15. Well, this puppy doesn't shoot. Makes for a cool paper weight though!
  16. The first folding knife I bought was a 110. I carried it until I wore the sheath out and them stashed it away. I'd probably carry it again, but I do prefer the quicker, one handed opening knives I tend to carry now. The 110's are great knives though.
  17. This was given to my dad. I did a little research and came up with that it's a 22 cal. Luger copy. Anybody know more about this? Edit: I did find a very informative page here: http://www.firearmsfirst.com/?p=30
  18. I love the Tanto evo. Killer blade for $20. Light weight, quick open, flipper, liner lock. Nice gift!
  19. This is what I've been thinking about doing.
  20. How is everybody storing their folders? I need a storage solution.
