  1. I've been to San Fran and spent a week downtown. I didn't experience any of the stuff that you did. I walked all over for a full week and my hotel was next door to a food kitchen and never once got asked for money. You have to do what I do and look poor! haha
  2. Its a suppressor and I am doing it on my own. No trust YET!
  3. that mag disconnect is a pain for reassembly and just general function. I highly recommend to everyone, grab a markII hammer bushing and get rid of the mag disconnect.
  4. A pistol can be converted into a rifle but a rifle cannot be made into a pistol.
  5. Be careful with that bolt catch. It is not meant to be used as a release and can cause damage to your bolt if using as a release.
  6. The mag part only applies to markIII's with the mag safety. If you install a markII hammer bushing, you can eliminate that step. And if you use a small screwdriver or punch or something, you can eliminate the flipping part too. I use a screwdriver or nail clips to push the hammer up (while pulling the trigger) and then insert the mainspring. Works every time.
  7. Just thought I would post this for people curious about wait times. Forms mailed: 2/18/2011 Forms received: 2/22/2011 Check Cashed: 2/24/2011 Pending: 3/25/2011 Examiner: Nicole Dudash Approved: Stamp received:
  8. Glad you got it worked out sir. Better to see something like this fixed than sold off.
  9. Personally, I can't tell the difference in 2.5 ounces. Again, by such a miniscule amount that its hardly noticeable. This is completely subjective. Some people will find the Ruger easier to shoot. This part really makes no sense to me. Small price to pay for customer service and an expected life of MORE than 5000 rounds. Yeah so I can only think of one Ruger that wasn't inspired by some other firearm.

and its been linked to at least twice in this thread.
  11. Not really. As long as you know what you are looking at, its easy. the hammer strut is the culprit and once you figure out where it needs to be when putting in the mainspring housing, you can get it right on the first try every time. As a matter of fact, I generally use a pair of nail clippers to disassemble and reassemble. No real tools necessary.
  12. my philosophy has always been that if you don't have extra parts, then you have done something wrong. haha
  13. I have to admit that I was one of those kids that disassembled everything to see how it worked. I can really see and tell how things go together so maybe that is why it is so easy for me.
  14. I think its pretty simple myself. I took my 22/45 apart the other day to install the mark2 hammer bushing. Took me all of 15 minutes from start to finish.
  15. You need to upload your picture to an image host such as photobucket. You can't link directly from your computer.
  16. I am a member on silencer talk and NFA talk and both forums have threads bashing red jacket. Again, they may make some nice stuff but that show makes them look like a bunch of idiots who make low quality items. Also, I've seen the owner guy take credit a couple of times for coming up with something new even though its been around for a couple of decades. The masterkey is a prime example of that.
  17. Haha. Nope. I've never been a teacher. I'm from Memphis though. Around here, you learn to speak many different forms of English.
  18. I am not that biased. I just want to know what they did that makes it worth that much more.
  19. I'm guessing that my post wasn't clear enough. Urse posted a link to a VEPR and a link to a Red Jacket VEPR. I couldn't find anything in the description other than the different furniture that would justify a 400 dollar premium over the regular VEPR.
  20. The only redjacket suppressor that I have seen looks like it is made from freeze plugs. I wouldn't exactly call that the forefront of technology. I understand that some people like them and thats fine. but what did they do to that AK up there to make it worth 400 dollars more than the wood furniture version?
  21. Just guessing from the pictures but they appear to use a dovetail type joint to keep them from moving once in place.
  22. Having watched a few episodes of Sons of Guns, I would NEVER buy anything with the Red Jacket name on it.
  23. Yep! I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eatin crackers!
  24. Indeed sir. I noticed that as well. (Love the show by the way). But in her defense, she is just a criminal and not a Marshall. Her background puts her as the daughter of a bounty hunter I think.

I'm not butthurt about Cal leaving either. But the Memphis fans that I know are so emotional about it. They still hate him and hate me just because I have dual citizenship (UT fan and Memphis fan).
