Wowsers! I gotta get one!!
-
You got a great deal. Some places have been selling those for $1000. $650 at other places, but never for $499. So, way to go!
-
The p3at is a good gun, but the hoohah is kind of silly, I think.
-
Looks like a Ruger to me, too.
-
Thank you, sir!

Kel-Tec is now selling a quad-rail for their sub-2000. I added a pic and contact info to my sub-2000 review.... Kel-Tec SUB-2000, the Mousegunner's Carbine In my opinion, this was a GREAT addition!!

My opinion, $250 is the right amount.

I have not shot one, or handled one. But you can read about them on the internet, and they have their own forum. It is a copy of the Kel-Tec p-11, with a safety switch added on. It got off to a rocky start several years ago, through some dis-honest mis-representations by the owners. I don't know how they are today. Maybe things have improved. I would recommend a genuine Kel-Tec P-11 instead. KT's customer service is well-known as being pretty good, if you ever need help. Here's the forum link: http://www.sccyforum.com/

Paint Shop Pro works wonders.

I have uploaded a high resolution image gallery of my 2nd generation p-3at. This may be helpful to someone contemplating purchasing a p-3at. Also, everyone, please feel free to use these images in any way you like, no strings attached, if you are interested. Screensaver, wallpaper, reviews, etc. 2nd Generation P3AT Images

Any (German, Romanian, Chinese, Yugoslavian, Hungarian, etc) ordinary mil-surplus mag will work, and they are the best, and cheapest. You can pick up Chinese mags on gunbroker.com, and elsewhere, if you look. You can also get extra 5-round Chinese mags. I stuck with Chinese mags. If you want to stay 922r compliant, for shooting, just leave it alone. I like mine "as is." But if you are determined to change the stock, you should remove the stock to see if the rear of the receiver goes at a slant, or if it is "squared away." The slant-cut receiver needs the Ironwood replacement. If your receiver looks cut at a 90 degree angle, you have more options. Congrats on getting the MAK-90. It is a superior AK to most other brands. You will find a lot of info and links to info here: Norinco MAK-90 Model of the Kalashnikov AK-47

Actually, I'd like one each of all the "ring of fire" guns: Raven, Jennings, Lorcin, Bryco, AMT, Jimenez, or whatever. I think they are interesting. You just have to accept them for what they are, and are not. They are an interesting episode in mid-20th century gun making. And Jimenez today is carrying on the "tradition." I don't expect to get something "finely crafted" or "lasts for a lifetime."

I would like to add a Raven .22 to my collection some day. The manner of function is different than that of the Phoenix. Two totally different designs.

I finally got out shooting, and have updated my review of the Phoenix HP22A .22lr pistol. It worked great! Phoenix Arms HP22A .22 LR Pistol Review For the money, this is a terrific little gun.

Gold is awfully high now. $1100 per ounce. Too much for the little man to carry in his pocket. PS is right. I think gold must have been a lot less expensive in the old wild West days. Or, gold is artificially high now, and we ought to sell our gold. These days, it's hard to know what to do. Are we going to see inflation or deflation? Only God knows (and maybe Glen Beck).

Very nice idea! Thanks.

This from the Makarov.com website: Can I fire .380 ACP ammo in my 9x18M Makarov? NO NO NO NO NO !!! There are those that disagree with me including an author of an article in Handguns magazine and gun dealers who wants to sell you a Makarov. The 9x18M cartridge is not a "true" 9mm because it's really 9.2mm. Therefore the bullets are sized .364" and .365" (barrel sizes vary...slugging yours is best to find out your bore size). Yes, you can probably get away with it a few times, but accuracy will suffer, you'll get gas blow-by, your barrel will wear out faster and for what? Save a few pennies? Hardly. 9x18M ammo is usually cheaper since you can get it surplus. If you absolutely want to shoot .380 ACP ammo from your Makarov, then buy a .380 Makarov or a .380 replacement barrel. For a car analogy, have you ever seen or owned a car that burned oil? How long did the engine last after it started blowing blue smoke? Probably not long. The reason is that the pistons and rings are now smaller than the cylinders and each explosion sends gasses by-passing the piston ("blow-by"). You're literally burning the sides of your pistons now and engine death is imminent. That's basically what you're doing by shooting undersized bullets. I have a .380 ACP pistol and want a little more power. Can I shoot 9x18M in it? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! This is even worse than the other way around. The bullet is too big (.364") to fit into the barrel (.356"), the cartridge will probably not even chamber, and even if it does, you may blow the gun and yourself up. Really, 9x18M Makarovs are not that expensive...just get one if you want to fire 9x18M. You can also change the barrel and you gun will now fire 9x18M. And if you want more power, get a .454 Casull. How about 9mm Parabellum? It fits in the chamber. Holy smokes...what are you trying to do? Kill yourself?!? 9mm Parabellum is a very high pressure round intended for locked-breech pistols. Look, fire .380 ACP from a .380 ACP pistol. Fire 9x18 M from a 9x18 M pistol. Fire 9mm Parabellum from a 9mm pistol. It's that simple. If you want multi- calibers, get a .357 Magnum; then you can fire .38 Special from it. Me again: Get 9mm Makarov ammo made especially for your Makarov pistol. Here's a possible link to ammo... http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=10480_14658_14743_14911_14762

Prices have gone up. They are asking in the $400 range on gunbroker.com. The E. German and Russian ones cost more.
-
I have owned two: a PT145 and a PT111. They fit in my hand better than most guns, and I liked them both.
-
I think you are right, Bryan.

This is a very useful thread, thanks! I'm going to post a link on mouseguns.com.

If things get really bad, living in a small town in the South is the best place to be. Choose a spot where water is plentiful. South Eastern TN is great, I think. Make good friends. Save up on food. Have a .22 rifle for hunting small game. Have a wood burning stove for the winter months. No. USA is too cold, and winters are too long.

The Kel-Tec p3at is a fine pistol, accurate enough for up close self defense. Nothing could be easier for ankle carry. Customer service is as good as it gets.

Here's one I got from LowBud for around $200... Mousegunner's Harrington & Richardson 676 .22 Revolver
