Hi, my name is Kevin and I'm a Glockaholic. Prentice Cooper is where I shoot alot since my only "farmer" buddy is rarely off when I am. I'll be there early this Saturday the 12th if anybody wants to meet, shoot or needs their 6 covered while they do the 200 yard dash.... I've been here a month but always delete my introduction before I submit it. Maybe I'm just not into submission... Anyways TGO rocks! Finally found a reason to justify having internet on my cell phone. Thanks for letting me join! Kevin

That reminds me that I need to order a spare parts kit...or build a backup rifle.:] Don't feel bad about breaking it, I'm sure I was one whack away from breaking my lower receiver while I was pounding it in. I will definitely be using ViceGrips next time. Someone mentioned a razor blade trick that should help with the front detent spring pin. I didn't know about it and spent 15 min on my hands & knees and face on the wood floor looking for a tiny piece of metal at 1:30 AM. Good luck and safe shooting!

A nice gentleman let me shoot a mag full through his PF9 today. It jumped in my hand but I could fire again very quickly. The few times I've shot a lightweight J frame I had to adjust my grip beforeI could shoot again. I will be acquiring my HCP soon and plan on carrying my G19 most of the time. However there will be times when I will want a "pocket" gun and this may be it. I am curious if the 124 grain +p gold dots didn't cycle or if you just "felt" a difference. That is what I currently have in my Glock. And you may already know this but I read a review by Mousegunner that recommends not shooting the last round in the magazine because when it locks back after the last round it wears down the follower.

I work till 3:30 tomorrow. Am I better off waiting till Sunday?

What they said plus take some silhouette targets old posters or large sheets of paper to frame your target. The really big (and expensive) targets that change colors when hit are alot of fun. Take your time be safe and enjoy. +1 for you seeking help and +2 to anyone who takes you shooting with them.

Old tube fed 22lr. High capacity, shootability;), and you can still go Rambo as long as you count your rounds!

"Put down that nickel played sissy pistol and get yourself a Glock". If they say it in a movie then it must be true...

I would think any pawn shop would give 300 bucks for a G17. Correct me someone if I'm wrong about that. The question is WHY do they want to sell it to you?

I was thinking of 38 S&W off- brand top break revolvers to trade in. I would include S&W lemon squeezers but I know a couple of distinguished gentlemen who collect em like women collect purses.... OR MAYBE THEY ARE WaNTING people to trade their RUSTY SIG's in. Hmmm

Try looking at the magazine to find where it locks into the gun at. If the paint is ground off on just one side of the hole it could be the hole is slightly off and you need to ever so carefully enlarge it. It could be that there is a burr or something on the other side of the magazine release button that needs to be removed. If you can't push it in without a magazine in the gun then you will have to remove the button and see what the hold up is. I would order or pick up another magazine and see if that helps before I started filing on my weapon. Or just learn how to load the magazine with the slide locked back!

I switch out magazines every time I go shoot. Only had 2 for the first 12 years so I wanted to make them last. Unless my glock is in it's holster I don't keep a round in the chamber. If you feel comfortable picking up a cocked and locked weapon in total darkness than that is your choice.

I used to think that is was simply a 7.62 x39 necked down and assumed it was much better than 223. However it is not. For the price of an upper you could pick up a Tantal. How cheap is the ammo?

That is going to be one butt kicking AR! I built my AR lower in my lap with a cheap set of punches, a hammer, a rubber mallet, a piece of wood and some masking tape. Others have mentioned using vice grips and a razor blade. I used a pipe wrench and piece of leather for the castle nut but it came loose so I would snag one of the combo wrenches when you get the chance. Take your time, and have a computer nearby, or manual with pictures, and you'll see it's so simple a caveman can do it.

Wow! I usually only see beaters on the tables when I go! Maybe the worse the economy is the better the guns for sale... That is a beautiful Browning

I'll be there on the 12th from 8AM EST till I run out of ammo! :]
-
Find out which ones your shooting buddies want. That way you can beg borrow or barter to get them back.
-
Hope it shoots as good as it looks!

Thanks Guys, I shall now double my efforts to wear out my G19

Mine are windowless. Even with the dustcover snapped on you can feel if one is fully loaded. And if you have time to take your eyes off of your surroundings then you had time to drop it and put in a new one. Or maybe you're supposed to put inspirational pictures in there... quotes.. word of the day... if lost return to.. BUT the only place I ever worry about running out of ammo is in a video game. AND I am constantly checking my screen when I get to a safe position or it gets quiet. WELL I just tried to do a "tactical" change versus rotating my wrist and looking at my Pmag. Now I'm untrained and only had my AR a year, but I think now I see the light... well at least the light shining through the Pmags

I also recommend a conversion kit if available for improving your larger caliber performance. Personally, I did alot of dry firing in between range trips and quickly noticed myself improving to near "gun magazine" groupings (check chamber, daylight through pistol grip, safe direction every time). I've shot H&R revolvers, Ruger semi's, Browning Buckmarks and a Colt Woodsman. My favorite was a Colt Buntline. I truly enjoyed shooting all of them. Maybe the double action triggers of the Sig Mosquito or the WaltherP22 would help but I've never shot those. I would get a Ruger semi for your "first" 22. Your ancestors will thank you!

Since I've had an AR, BreakFree CLP, the other 13 years I would clean it religiously with Hoppes #9 but no oil or grease. Glocks were designed to get dirty. I just typed this line squinting through the gap between the slide and frame!(I have to look at the keyboard)

Wow! Thanks for the great write up. While I want a Mossberg 590A1.... My double digit rathole makes this look like a GREAT option.
