  1. I have a Wrist Rocket that's been around for about 40 years - I used to shoot cans off fence posts with it when I was a kid. I've replaced the bands several times over the years as they got old, but I'm still using the same piece of leather that it came with new. I don't think anyone did/will ever improve on the design. Good idea to put it in the bug out bag, but I think I'll stick with stones to avoid the weight of ammo. They may not have quite the stopping power of steel shot, but you sure wouldn't run out.
  2. Got it - thanks! I think I'll be able to come check it out.
  3. I keep a Glock 26 in a touch-combo safe on my nightstand (Trustworthy, but young children in the house) and a Remington 870 loaded with buckshot inside the gun cabinet on the other side of the room. I also keep one of those horribly evil 33 round mags loaded up next to the Glock..
  4. Maybe I'm just tired, but I can't find a location in this thread.. Where the heck will the Feb 5th event be located?
  5. You inspired me.. This is one of my favorite Ed Hardy designs - now I just have to put it on a holster.

    sweet trade

Good deal - I have one of the sub-compact .40's and I really like it.
  7. How deep do you cut? I want to try this!

    Changing History

I'd take a 1911 back to about 1890 and look up John Moses Browning. Oh wait... Maybe that's already been done.
  9. Well said - I like your arguments!
  10. Good job! I really like the artwork on the first one! How did you do that again, you transferred from a template?
  11. Went today, and enjoyed it. REALLY crowded when I got there (about 11:00) but thinned out after a little. Noticed a lot of 'regular' vendors with a few new ones mixed in, and quite a few guys walking around with guns they wanted to sell. Am I the only one who walks around these shows trying to spot the TGO people there? We need to wear TGO hats or lapel pins or something so we can spot each other and say hello.
  12. I saw 28 ga ammo at Wal Mart in Smyrna this morning..
  13. I really like my SP101, but I have a hard time keeping it out of sight.. Maybe a different holster would help. No problem keeping my 1911 hidden.
  14. Nice collection of 'littles'!
  15. How do you make it smell like Hoppes 9? I can't clean a gun if it doesn't smell like #9 afterward.. I just can't.
  16. 1911 grips are relatively easy - I made these with just a band saw and belt sander. (Sorry for the bad pic on the walnut/darker grip - it's a lot prettier than it looks in the pic.) I want to try making some for my PPK with the inserts, but need to wait for the weather to warm up so I can get back in the garage.
  17. I picked up a slightly used Miami Classic for a Glock 26 at a gun show recently. I'd been thinking about buying one new, but didn't want to spend $150 to find out if I liked it. I find it to be a good, comfortable way to carry, especially when I'm driving. Honestly, there is also a certain amount of 'cool' factor in the way it looks and feels. Mine didn't come with the tie-downs, but I may either buy them separately or make my own - I probably will only use one for the mag side. Since the holster part of the rig can be changed/replaced, I'm on the lookout for one for a 1911, which is what I originally wanted.
  18. I drove to central Mexico last year to visit my wife's family... Won't do that again. We were ok once we got about 100 miles south of the border, but I was really nervous about the crossings. My father in law is a retired Federale (Cop), so we can avoid trouble in their small town. Also - I can blend in enough to not be noticed as a gringo, so we stay under the radar. It's too bad, because we drove (quickly) through some of the prettiest places I've ever seen on the trip. I REALLY missed having my gun along, but the previous posts are correct - even an empty shell casing can land you in jail, and they have dogs to search vehicles at checkpoints looking for drugs and weapons. I think they're set up as a 'for-profit' venture by the local Policia, who either take/sell the contraband or look for bribes to ignore it.
  19. There is also a thumb safety in the usual spot - you can see it in the pic just to the left of the hammer. On the Titan it's pretty low-profile and nicely rounded for carry, but easy to flip on/off. You could carry with it off, but I doubt I would.
  20. Exactly! When I was a kid, trespassing was handled differently than it is these days. This vendor had 12ga rock salt shells for sale today.. I really thought about picking some up, but decided that if things ever get to the point that I need to shoot at someone I probably won't want to just tick them off.
  21. I have an ATI Titan - I think it's a great gun, especially for the price. Mine has been flawless, except when I screwed something up. (Which gave me an opportunity to find out first hand about ATI's excellent customer service...)
  22. I went today - pretty typical.. Has anyone tried any of the 'exotic' ammo that the guy sells in mostly individual rounds? (Dragon Breath, Ball & Chain, etc. Mostly shotgun ammo.). Some of the rounds look interesting for personal defense, but I question how dependable / effective it might be.. I was terrified of rock salt rounds when I was a kid (long story), I didn't know you could buy them these days. I picked up a couple of things to test out the next time I get to the range with a shotgun.
  23. The previous post is full of great advice. Check out tn.gov, memphistn.gov, and even Nashville.gov if you're interested in moving. I keep basic resume and cover letter files and update them each time I send one out, making sure it's tailored for specifics and includes some (subtle) key words and terminology from the company or organization's own job posting.
  24. A well respected source (Ted Nugent) said tonight on CNN that he thought it was a 'colony' issue, in which some virus or bacteria was killing large groups of single species. Leave it to Ted to suggest something that actuially makes sense. Another panel member (Roseann Barr) said that it was all Monsanto's fault, and was probably caused by the animals eating poisoned sweet potatos. Good to know she's on top of it.
  25. +1! My work schedule and location mean that I'm often driving through some not-so-nice areas late at night, and I HATE not being able to carry and lock it in my vehicle at work to avoid breaking the rules.
