Range report needed: guns and gear expo,
JPS replied to HillbillyMafia's topic in Events and Gatherings
My two cents worth: It was a 160 mile round trip for me, and I live in south Nashville. I’m curious as to why this location was chosen – I’m guessing that it was for the benefit and convenience of the sponsoring vendors. I’m willing to make the drive, but I think that holding it closer to a larger metro area (or maybe a different one each time) would make me happier and mean that more people would attend. It was a great opportunity to speak with the firearm company reps – for example, I had a good conversation with a gentleman from Beretta. (Really cool stickers for the kids by the way!) That doesn’t happen at a typical gun show. I agree with some of the other posts about not seeing things I for which I wanted to shop. I was looking for a couple of holsters, some gun oil, and a (relatively low-priced) home defense shotgun. The only thing I ended up buying was a ‘tactical’ cell phone case. A couple of the vendors selling guns did have some really good prices, but they didn’t have what I needed. I have never bought the jerky at a gun show, but I have bought wallets, gun grips, and ammo boxes. I have also had a knife sharpened. I missed those things today. -
8100 - Verrry nice! I find I have a sudden passion for stainless..

That is probably the ugliest thing I've ever fallen in love with....!
-
I have 1911s with and without beavertails - I like shooting with it more than without. As for concealed carry, the beavertail really isn't that much harder to hide (IMHO).
-
Oh man..! All I ever won in a pool was a cake. Very nice!

I have a PT145 Mil Pro - it's been a great, dependable, easy to carry gun for me. I got it for less than $400.
-
I'm waiting for the Cash for Gunclunker program - I want to trade my old ones for new and better ones.

I've been looking for a stainless 1911, and came across this Springfield Champion at my local gun store. I just couldn't get away from it.......! I immediately put 200 rounds through it - smooth and flawless. It feels better than any 1911 I've fired before, and it sure is pretty!

I had Pentax cameras and lenses for many years, and decided to pick up a Pentax K10 a couple of years ago because I wanted to go digital and use all my lenses. I've found it to be an excellent camera - easy to use both on 'automatic' or when you want to adjust fstops etc. for additional creativity.

Don't they make one now that will shoot the 3" shells?

Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist
JPS replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I bet they don't get to have their trial in New York, either. -
I looked at (looked past, actually) one of those when I bought my Sig.. My 11 year old, who is usually impressed with that kind of thing said "That looks really silly". Bet they're selling though..!

I considered a Judge, but went with a Bond Arms Snake Slayer instead, partially because it will be easier to conceal, but mostly just because I thought it was so cool. I was surprised at how easy it was to shoot - both .410 and .45. I like the idea of carrying a double barrelled shotgun in my pocket. I'm putting a Judge back on my 'wish-list' for a 'nightstand' gun.
-
Who would you show that thing to? I'll show my HCP to LEO. Period. No one else needs to know I'm carrying.

I shot mine guys, and it's great! The only painful part was counting the $ for each round of .380 I sent down-range.

I want to post and ad & pictures in the firearms classified section, but under posting rules it says I can't post attachements - why is that, and can I change it? (I don't have the 'Manage Attachments' button..)
-
I have both the XD SC and the PPS in .40. The PPS is easier to conceal because it's so thin, but the XD is much much more comfortable to shoot.. Depends on which is more important to you.

Is he carrying? Looks like printing to me......

Thanks, and back 'atcha. No keyholes by the way - the longer barrel is great. I'm working on a holster as we speak.

I picked up a Snake Slayer IV (4.25" barrel model) today at Guns and Leather, and took it right out to the range to try it out. The grip took a little getting used to, but once I did I found the gun really fun to shoot. I felt much less recoil than I expected, and it was reasonably accurate with both .45 LC and 410 rifled slugs. While the longer barrel will make it slightly harder to conceal, I think it really helps with both accuracy and recoil. Once I got home I found another advantage - cleaning is a snap! The quality fit/finish of this pistol is awesome - rock solid, and everything clicks together just right. I also really like the idea of all the interchangable barrels - I'll probably order one in 9mm so I can shoot it more often for less $. Bottom line - probably not a primary carry pistol, but it sure is a cool looking BUG. I like having a shotgun in my pocket.
-
I HAD to pick one of these up this week too..! I'm replacing my LCP BUG - the Sig just feels so much better/smoother, and I like the 'mini 1911' style. I'll post some pics after I make some wood grips for it in the next week or so.

I've never had a problem with mine, but I only use brass...
-
What would you load in this for personal protection?
-
I have a PT145 that I carry daily - no problems whatsoever. I think it's a great gun, especially for the money. The only issue I have with the gun is that I can't find night sights for it - I don't much like the Heine sights.
