  1. I agree - if you're going to carry a 1911, it has to be cocked and locked. It took me a few days to get used to it, but now it's normal/natural.
  2. I think the Nashville area makes sense, because it's the most centrally located population center in the state. I like the Murfreesboro suggestion - but of course I would being in south Nashville.. 20 miles (So. of Davidson County line) is 20 miles for the folks coming in from the South, and 840 would make it easier/faster than going through Nashville for people coming from points east.
  3. I have a Kimber Ultra II (Tactical) and a SA Loaded Champion Commander - They're both great guns, but I have to agree with your buddy that I probably wouldn't buy a Kimber again due to price vs value/performance. I love the Champion, and have never had any problems or issues with it - for several hundred dollars less than the Kimber.
  4. The XD40SC is a great gun, and it would probably be easier to conceal than the Judge. I'd go with the Springfield.
  5. That looks pretty cool - I think I'll add one to my wish list.

    Revolver work

I guess it's all relative, eh? My LCR is not fun to shoot becaues it's so light weight, but it sure is easy to carry.

    I'm torn G26 or G27

I debated, then went with the 26 for the reasons others have posted - lower ammo cost, higher capacity, and less recoil. If I think 11 CorBon +P hollow-points won't do the job, I'll carry my .45.

    Revolver work

I never thought about this, but that sure makes sense! I'm thinking of how much easier it would be to load with the gate on the opposite side... I have 3 Rugers - 2 SP101's and an LCR. I like the heft and solid build of the SP101's, and the amazing lack of heft for the LCR.
  9. I can't speak to the 9mm, but I just sold/traded my way to a Kahr PM45. (I wanted a .45 in as small a package as possible for those times when 9mm just doesn't feel like enough...) The Kahr has a looooooong trigger pull, but it's butter smooth for it's whole length. The .45 has a pretty good bark, but it's nothing unmanageable, and I'd guess the 9mm would shoot really nicely. I also have a Para .45 with the LDA - not as smooth as the Kahr, but still nice. I think you'd be good either way.
  10. Hello - welcome aboard!
  11. Because of where it happened, I guessed that he either bought the ammo someplace else or from two different people. I'm confident they would have caught it if he had gotten them together.
  12. I met a newbie at the range this week that had rented a 9mm and bought .40 ammo - he couldn't figure out why the cartridges wouldn't load from the magazine.. When I pointed out the problem, he said he thought they were interchangeable in some guns - thats why he wanted a S&W pistol. Scary. (He exchanged the ammo and did ok once that was straightened out..)
  13. Very nice. Any problems finding a holster for it?
  14. I have the required holster drawer full of stuff I rarely use, and even make my own hosters, but I always end up with a Bianchi Carry-Lock (Model 82?) holster for whatever I carry most of the time. They are very secure, ride nicely, conceal well, and look nice. I also like the Crossbreed Super Tuck - if you're carrying a larger gun, they'll keep it hidden and comfortable.
  15. I don't think I've ever chimed in before on this issue, so I'll put in my .02 worth.. I do not open carry - I think it's a bad idea, and I don't need the hassle. That being said, I also do not panic if the bottom of my holster or end of my grip is occasionally visible like I did when I first received my permit. It is legal for me to carry my gun, and I'll explain that if/when I ever have to do so.
  16. I have a single shot 22-250 from Rossi that I picked up for under $200 - I bought it for my boys to shoot. I figured if they were taking the time to load and fire each time they would learn to shoot more accurately than if they're just throwing lead.

    Just got a Glock 26

If you're like me, you will really like the Glock. I avoided buying one for a long time, but I've carried it constantly since gettin it. Its just so darn utilitarian that its hard to beat!
  18. I can see the images - looks great!
  19. I have a Taurus PT1911 that feels and shoots really well for the price. Taurus builds a lot of 'aftermarket' features into the gun at the factory, so for not a lot of money you get a really good pistol. (I also have a Kimber, so I can make the comparison.)
  20. Bianchi (82?) Carry-lock, or a home-made owb.
  21. I saw one of these at a recent gun show, and was impressed by the demo - then I tried it. It may not look like a gun in your pocket, but you can sure tell something is in there... I was told that my jeans would "stretch over that". It was also pretty uncomfortable sitting, although the demonstrator said he was sure that I couldn't tell it was there. I have an overhang, but not much 'girth' from the waist down - could just be me but I didn't care for it.
  22. I'm right there with you - I've gone steady with mine since I got it.
  23. Anyone have an address? (I'm TomTom dependent....)
  24. The only way I'll carry IWB is with a Crossbreed holster... Everything else I've tried is uncomfortable after a couple of hours. (And btw, I hate these guys who excercise and run.. MILES? I can run to the bathroom in an emergency - that's it for me.)
  25. Those are pretty cool! I'm heading up to G&L next week, I'll have to check it out.
