  1. Speaking from experience, I've been in a motorcycle wreck before (full face helmet and leathers). I still got beat up pretty good. If I ever get another bike (like my wife is gonna let that happen in her lifetime), I'll still always wear my full face and leathers. This dude may be the greatest cyclist around, but it's some "redheaded stepchild" that will take him out in a moment of not paying attention.

    AR-15 Q

The last line....it's true, it's so true.
  3. I keep 2 loaded in my underware drawer. But (IMOHO) if you have to put one on straight out of bed, in the shower, or while mowing your lawn....it's time to move to a better neighborhood....just sayin'.
  4. When I worked for Home Depot, it was their policy to fire any employee(s) that tried to unionize. Plain and simple...no unions at Home Depot. Wonder why Wal-Mart can't do that?
  5. When I visit any gun shop and have a holstered, loaded weapon on me...it's just that. Same as if I were in the mall, buying gas, whatever. It should stay concealed, I'm not there to "show it off", same as if I were anywhere else. The only reasons I could think of bringing a firearm to a gun shop to be brought out in the open would be for smithing, comparison to a firearm I wanted to buy, or to have an accessory fitted. In those cases, yes, the firearm would be unloaded. Probably wouldn't even have a mag in it. Buy this time, I'm preaching to the choir. I know exactly the kind of people/patrons/gun owners this thread is about... They say ignorance is bliss, I wonder what kind of world the stupid live in?
  6. I saw the Olympic's opening start up on TV the other night and couldn't find the remote fast enough.
  7. I was searching around the forum and found this one before I started a similar thread myself. I, too, have been looking to get a revolver engraved for a parade/BBQ gun, but have had no luck in finding someone in the middle Tennessee area, much less, the whole friggin' state. I'd like to find someone whole has a good background/reputation in the business. Remember, a guy in this field only gets one chance at each firearm. You can't erase a mistake and start over. I've searched the web and found a guy toward Mt. Eagle. But the only fellow actually advertising his engraving as a business is over in Missouri. There's actually a brotherhood/union/association of gun engravers. I'd post links, but I'm at the office and most of my frequented sites have been blocked under the "weapons" filter. The TGO forum is one of the few I can still visit.
  8. It is in my opinion that carrying openly puts you to the head of the line to get shot by the "bad guy" whose arrived at the same point of interest you have to perform an act of armed robbery. Carrying concealed levels the playing field. You can blend in with the crowd and no of the bleeding hearts get their panties in a wad about the big bad man with the hog leg on his belt. I have a cCP badge with my number on it. I wear it close to my holster. If exposed, there's little interest from surrounding people as it just looks like I'm some sort of official or something.(No, I don't go around impersonating and officer) Another good reason to have one is if ever caught in a confrontation, police aren't as likely to shoot a badge when arriving on the scene. There's my:2cents:...
  9. I don't do yard sales very much, but when I find myself out with the wife on a Saturday morning in the family van going from house to house, I aways ask if they have any guns or knives they want to sell or get rid of. You'd be surprised....some guys will sit there a minute, tilt their head, think a minute, then run in the house, and come back out with a treasure....and ask hardly anything for it. Not a bad habit to get into when you're out "yard saling"...

    Lefty ARs

Daniel, It's always a pleasure and a treat to visit you and your family at G&L. This was not my first purchase from Guns & Leather, but is my first firearm purchase from you all. Needless to say, It's probably not my last. I really enjoy the atmosphere, sellection, and all the other goodies/accessories you guys offer. I'm looking forward to shopping G&L after Christmas bonus time.
  11. First off, I'll admit I'm new to the whole AR scene. I've studied these things for awhile and have just recently purchased one. I'm left handed, so I purchased a Stag Arms left M4 Carbine. How I'm going to like it remains to be said. I haven't had a chance to shoot it, yet. HOWEVER, I have friends and relatives (right handed) that all own AR-15s and have purchased .22 conversion kits in order to plink cheaper than shooting .223. Here's the question(s)..... Will the .22 conversions on the market now work in a left handed AR? If not, is there a left handed .22 conversion for a left handed AR? OR Am I just S.O.L.?
  12. I wish my tile floor looked that good.... Getting back on topic..... I just bought my first last Saturday... A Stag Arms 15L Model 1L (AR-15 M4 Carbine) with detachable carry handle/front post sights. It looks like this now, but by Christmas I'll have all new furniture....grip, forearm, optics, and such.

    Lefty ARs

Back in March I ordered a Stag Arms left handed AR-15 from Guns & Leather. When I talked to Daniel there, he didn't seem to optimistic. I persisted and ordered anyway. So, 4 1/2 months later my "ordered AR" still hadn't come in, but G&L had gotten in a new Stag lefty M4 that was equivalent to what I wanted. I went up last Saturday and met with Dennis and walked out happily with the new Stag lefty M4. Guns & Leather is a class act operation...They rank very high on my list of Tennessee gun dealers. Here's what I've learned about Stag Arms.... -They're not as big an outfit as you think they are.(this has nothing to do with quality, just quantity) -They've acquired the new Smith & Wesson contract, so they're busy as bees. -They also make right handed ARs and that's the dominant/majority AR order. If you're going to order an AR from Stag Arms through any gun dealer, getting it ain't gonna happen to soon. It's best to do like I've done and just get it when you see it or find it.
  14. I used to, but my office had two employees who wanted to intimidate the others and chose to display pieces of their collections on their desks in their cubicles. They were also irresponsible with their aggressive discussions of their rights and what they'd like to do if given the chance. Needless to say, neither had a CCP. Upon receiving several complaints by fellow employees, the company by-laws were changed and the two employees were let go in a series of lay-offs that were to follow. I, as well as my other co-workers who legally carry, am no longer allowed to carry at work. I do keep my firearm in my vehicle (parked close to the building). I feel that the result of this disrespect of firearms and fellow employees by the two former co-workers has endangered the rest of us. My fellow employees know I am a gun enthusiast/collector, but also know that I would never walk through the office wielding a firearm like a Titans' banner. They also know that because I don't glorify my opions or the simple fact that I carry a firearm (legally), I'm not the one who's going to break down and start whiping out the office in a hail of gun fire. The former employees I mentioned may not have either, but they did seem to give the impression that they were geared for it.

    Do you .22?

.22s, do I have .22s...... .22 Ruger Single Six (with interchangeable .22mag cylinder) 2 - .22 Ruger New Model BearCats....One stainless, one blued. .22 Ruger Mark II Government Model
  16. I've been to CompUSA only a few times myself. The 100 Oaks store is just around the corner from my office. I've bought a printer/scanner for my wife and then gone back after the ink cartridges when they ran out. The scanner was on sale and the print cartridges weren't but were easier to get to than anywhere else at the time. I won't be missing CompUSA or their prices on ink. Lately I've found that Circuit City had better buys on the cartridges and on other components for my computer. Lately, I've been getting my computer accessories (wireless mouse, power cord for the cigarette lighter, card reader, etc.) at Target, but only because I had a gift card. (moto for shopping at Target - "What Target lacks in sporting goods, they make up in hot chicks shopping there".) Best Buy is kind of inconvenient when running through Cool Springs. I'm glad they built the one over on Charlotte Pike. I'll be stopping in more often, now.
  17. I used to carry a Colt Defender .45acp under the console in my truck. After many break-ins in and around my office. I've opted for a FEG PA-63. If my truck is ever burgularized, I've only lost a $175 pistol....not a $650 with Wilson Combat mags. Needless to say, I'd still be devistated if I lost this little baby.
  18. I'm going to keep the bobtail in mind the next time I'm in the market for a 1911...(as well as all the other Bob's Tungsten has listed - to funny). Hope I don't crack up laughing at the gun counter shelling out my dough.
  19. Being an NRA member I get American Rifleman. When the Mrs. Average Joe sends me after milk and diapers, I snag a copy of the latest gun mag. Usually one of these: Combat Handguns Guns of the Old West (put out by Combat Handguns) Guns and Ammo HandGuns Most of the time it depends on what handguns are reviewed. I subscribed to Shooting Times last, but haven't been impressed lately. I've recently let my subscription run out.
  20. Is Omaha, Nebraska CC? I don't think a sniper would make it out of his roost (or very far from it) if he tried something like that in Tennessee.
  21. Being that I'm left-handed, I'm holding out for a Stag Arms lefty model AR in .223. Creeky's just about got me ready to go to the range with one of those things and my eagerness is pushed higher every time I'm over at his place and he shows me some other reason I should have one(like I needed more than one). Those things just look plain fun with about a dozen old coffee cans and an open red dot site.
  22. What's the best to buy?.....a computer, right off the shelf, I mean.....
  23. Wow! you can CC at Disney World. Excellent! I'd like to walk around under a few roller coasters and see if I could find some long lost treasures that had fallen from loose pockets. Never know....I might find a consideral amount of .25, .32, and .22 short palm guns lost out of the pockets of unknowing visitors.
  24. Wal-Mart is getting into the computer business. I see where they're selling Dells, now. Wonder how long it'll be before we go to the big box to get all our computers and computer components?
