The ticks are awful this year. I went out pond fishing this weekend and found six crawling on me. I use off, or anything with DEET as a repellent. When I get home I undress on the back porch, then put my clothes directly in the washing machine, then shower and then do a visual search of my body. Lyme disease is forever. I have not used it yet but I understand if use correctly it is safe and effective.

I agree. I don't know what really happened. If there is a trial then maybe the facts will come out.

Dave, you are wise and usually, you are correct and more than a worthy opponent in a forum discussion. Dave I have to agree with you on your point that if you instigate a fight, you can't use deadly force. In North Carolina that is the law. You can't pick a fight and then kill the guy because he is winning. I do contend that being is a street fight is very dangerous. I earned my black belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1975 and I can attest to the fact that you can get killed, blinded and maimed, in a street fight by a single blow. Today, I'm a crippled old man and I couldn't fight my way out of a field of tulips but I could still kill a man with a single "knife hand" blow to the throat.

You can't go wrong. I have a Glock 19 Gen 4. There are some things I like about it and some things I don't but the gun is totally reliable and very accurate, which makes it good with me. I also like the M&Ps, I don't own one yet but they are also reliable and accurate. Either of these pistols will give you good service but you would have to shoot them both to determine which you like best.

I'm not saying he had a "duty" to retreat. I'm just saying, since he was faster, that he certainly had the opportunity to retreat. I have no idea who was in the wrong and who was in the right. I'm just saying that the faster person gets to choose whether to stand and fight, or run away. Since Martin was faster, then the assumtion that he choose to stand and fight holds merrit. I have run away from a few fights when my opponent was bigger and slower than me. Is calling some one a racial slur justification for assault? I still contend that when they closed contact, that it was mutual, although I have no facts to back that up. The only thing I do know was that it was a tragic event that should never have happened.

Zimmerman is a short fat man. Martin is a young athlete. Martin could have run circles around Zimmerman. The only way they could have gotten in to a fight is if Martin choose to, otherwise Martin could have simply ran away. "Speed is life" if you are faster than your opponent then you get to choose when and where to fight. If you find yourself at a disadvantage you can use your speed to break contact. This is like a Road Rage incident only on the street. These type of encounters can make two perfectly decent strangers mad enough to kill each other. It is insane and it takes a mature person to resist and break contact.

I have heard of Habaneros and Ghost peppers buy I have never heard of Doomsday Peppers. They sound hotter than blue blazes.

Go with the 9mm. You will not need it, but it will stop a Black Bear if you do. Have fun and enjot the hike.

I shoot Glaser Powerballs, PMC Starfire, Federal Personal Defense and Remington JHPs. The Remingtons are my favorite because the feed well and don't cost a buck and a quarter a shot.

Thanks Mr. Pie, I think you answered my question. I, had to ask I don't reload (yet) and I don't hunt with handguns. I really want a 44 mag, but a man has to choose between his wants and his needs.

I ask that because I have an itch for a new pistol and I do not own a 44 magnum. So I'm thinking about buying one and want some input.

Here's how I do it. You take the hush puppy and bite off his head, then you poor some Texas Pete down in him and you take a bite. My family is from Baldwin County and Barbour County Alabamer.

In Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina, they serve Pork Barbecue. I know that in Texas they don't like to eat their household pets, so they make beef barbecue. But in the rest of the south the pig is what we call barbecue. Although Texas beef brisket is wonderful! I was at an Alabama Barbecue place recently and I ordered barbecue and a dozen Hush Puppies. The guy looked at me like I was from outer space! "We don't serve Hush Puppies with barbecue in Alabama. We serve Hush Puppies with Catfish." So I ask, "Well what do you serve with Barbecue?" He said "White bread". Huh.....I felt like I was on another planet. So my question is................does anyone in Tennessee serve Hush Puppies with their Barbecue? Eastern North Carolina is famous for it's vineger based pork barbecue. South Carolina is famous for it's mustard based barbecue. East Tennessee makes a wonderful hickory smoked barbecue with a tomato base and West Tennessee makes their Memphis style barbecue that I love so much. I do love any meat slow cooked over a fire, it's a southern tradition.

The 22 magnum is really a rifle round. It needs a longer barrel to burn off all the propellant to give the maximum performance. That's why you get the really cool fireball out the barrel when you shoot 22 mags in a pistol. The Taurus 992 6" weights 55 oz. which is 2 oz heavier than their Raging Bull 454 Casul. I have a Ruger Single Six 22lr/22Mag with a 9.5" barrel. It will deliver well over 200ft/lbs of muzzle energy. Equivalent to a 38 special. It's a fun little revolver to plink with.

You are on the Internet now. People can shoot 2 inch groups at 500 yards with a snub nosed revolver on the Internet. That's in the dark with a GPS to guide them to the target. I have heard so many people talk about tight groups with their handgun, that I pay no attention to them. It doesn't matter what some perfect stranger can shoot. It's what you can shoot that matters. That is what I like about shooting. It matters not what someone else can shoot, but what you can shoot. Enjoy shooting! Keep'em in the ten ring brother.

The SOG is a great knife. The thing about knives is.....you will know when it feels good. Everyone has their favorite knives and you will know when you hold it in your hands. You need to think abou what your needs are from a blade. If you need to cut kindling, you need a Machete or a tomahawk. For just around the camp utility knife the SOG would be great. I'm a big fan of SOG knives and carry one every day. A SOG Flash Tanto spring assist.

It has to be a joke. There is no way you could get both triggers to go at the same time. You need concertina wire, razor wire. Kids will just throw a rug over barbed wire and climb it in seconds. I know.....senator Jesse Cole had a fishing pond that had 2 pound Shell Crackers and 10lb Bass. We used to climb that fence like it was nothin'...............just saying. Dogs would really help. If you got dogs, you don't need razor wire.....

Man those grips look goooood on that CZ. I recently purchased a CZ75 Sp01 and I'm love'n it. I consider the CZ to be on par with the 1911.

I really want a DB9. I have a DB380 that works great. I carry an LC9 which I really like but it's not really a true pocket pistol. The LC9 connceals well IWB, offers up 8 9mm rounds when needed and it has never failed from the first shot to around 200 so far. I am going to wait on the DB9 until I am sure they have any problems worked out. The DB9 is such a cool little pocket rocket I will have to buy one sooner or later. Diamondback customer service is excellent.
