  1. I will have to say that my carry permit has been the best thing for my road rage. Nowa days when someone is giving me that look for my defensive driving (whether it be "go to hell" or "screw you buddy") I resort to blowing them a kiss and smile like they are the cute little 5yo they are acting like. Now that'll piss a red neck off!
  2. I was going to tell a long story about my experience with the 709 but you probably don't really care so here's the short and sweet. Right off the bat the firing pin wasn't hitting hard enough for the gun to fire 3-5% of the rounds (I put the unfired rounds in my sig and they all fired so I knew it wasn't just duds). This didn't bother me too much cause I figured it was an easy fix and if that was the only problem I still had everything I was looking for (small 9mm). Do a search and You'll find several rants about how much I've enjoyed the slim. After about 500 or so rounds, cleaning it religiously, I started to get the occasional Failure to feed and failure to eject. cleaned it... same thing... cleaned it again... same thing progressively more often. I sent it back to Taurus in March and got it back in about 5 weeks. I took it out yesterday and before I got to 100 rounds the firing pin stopped striking all together. We have 200 rounds through the LCP with out so much as a hic-up. I hope I just got a lemon with the 709 but have read other threads with the same outcome. I plan on getting it fixed again and putting about 500 more flawless rounds through it before writing it off all together. Wish me luck...

  5. Police: Drunk Memphis mom runs through school with sword | tennessean.com | The Tennessean MEMPHIS — Police say the mother of an elementary school student drank a 40 ounce bottle of malt liquor before brandishing a sword in her child's school.Bennie Price told WMC-TV that her daughter, 32-year-old Toni Price went to Riverview Elementary School in Memphis intending to confront the parents of another child who had been in a spitting match with her child the previous day. According to court records, an employee reported a drunk woman armed with a sword was running through the halls of the school and had threatened to cut her. Officers who arrived on the scene retrieved a black cane that concealed the blade. Bennie Price said her daughter would never have hurt anyone at the school. Toni Price is charged with aggravated assault and having a weapon on school property.
  6. Jack, I would have done the same thing in that situation! Drawn and ready not aimed. Thumbs up on keeping your cool as they were driving away and the threat leaving. Good Job.
  7. My thoughts exactly. Couldn't agree more. This is a time when a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN" would and should be carrying!!!
  8. ROFL “He’s so hot right now, so I wanted to translate that through my work,” YA RIGHT! I'm not sure the only thing flaming is the statue!
  9. 46% mall ninja.... I don't know. I haven't had that much ninja in me since PRISON!
  10. West, tn here. Its snow here... Ice began at about 6a.m. in north jackson/threeway. snow began at 9:30. got about an inch (aprox. stuck finger in it ) and coming down strong with Ice predicted this afternoon. roads are not too treacherous and haven't seen the first sign of a salt truck. lol no such thing as a snow plow in jackson I think lol.
  11. Paris isn't too far from me and at 7a.m. we were having folks skidding off the road in North Jackson. between the Ice and snow we're prolly close to a half inch by now in some places. You must have just been on the outskirts. Snow now, supposedly gonna go back to ice after noon. I believe we've just seen the beginning.
  12. I've read all the comments on this and have this to add/ask. I have a gun smith buddy who says that he won't own a kahr due to the fact that he had one come in with a cracked frame and because that with kahr, either you get a good gun or a lemon. And it happens more with kahr than with most other guns. I have been leaning toward the LCP because of it but would really rather have another 9mm. Any one else have this experience or is my buddy just biased. I hope my comments are on topic enough to not be "thread jacking".
  13. Is this for real? I thought it was a joke! The gun in the hand looks fabricated.

  15. My wife hated my p226. She couldn't make up her mind while shopping guns so I just bought her the Taurus slim to start. She absolutely LOVES IT!!! We've put about 400 rounds through is with little problems to speak of. here is a very lengthy post I made about it... Rebtl, I am on the same quest you are. I bought my first gun, intending to carry, about a year ago. Sig p226. I love the gun but don't carry it... too big to conceal with what I wear on a daily basis. I had been looking for something for my wife for about 6 months and she about drove me crazy because she couldn't make up her mind. Finnally I just bought her the taurus 709 and she absolutely loves it! We have put about 400 rounds through it the only problem being that it wouldn't fire about 5% of the reloads we put though it. Taurus said that they only guarantee it to shoot manufactured rounds and we haven't put a manufactured round in it that it wouldn't shoot. I have been looking for exactly what you are, again for myself and have really considered the pm9 as well. I have a gunsmith buddy that is trying to talk me out of buying kahr because of some past experiences but almost everyone else has had nothing but good to say about them. I am really considering buying another taurus 709 for myself because of the great experience we have had with the one we have. I have never been a taurus fan but my opinion may be changing. Another attractive point is that we bought the gun (brand new, at a gun shop), 100 rounds of ammo and two holsters for just under $500. I love my sig and wouldn't trade it for 2 of anything else but it makes a great truck gun not CCW. Just another heads up... I shot the CW9 and thought it was a rough shoot. my sig vs. cw9? kinda like the difference in driving a Cadillac and go-cart... real jerky. The 709 isn't a very comfortable shoot for me because big hands don't do well with small guns but I could carry it in my pocket comfortably and I don't plan on spending a lot of time on the range. Thats another point. Any of the smaller guns are not gonna be a lot of fun on the range... just consider that... but for CCW they serve their purpose I'm no gun expert. Consider all of the above MHO
  16. Here is what I posted on another discussion. Have been looking for similar things. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handguns/27739-need-advice-buying-small-9mm-edc-4.html#post366845

  18. Welcome! I was in Germantown yesterday!
  19. Hey guys thanks for the info and the offer! Very generous. She did get the chance to shoot the LCP and really enjoyed it. The reason we are looking at the Kahrs is because of the size and because it is a 9mm. She looked at the cw9 this weekend and said she wouldn't feel comfortable carrying because of the size so I guess we are back to the pm9.
  20. Hey Folks! This site was recommended by a patient of mine and so far I am impressed. I, like so many others, recently became concerned with the subtle and not so subtle threats that we have been seeing when it comes to our right own and carry weapons. My first purchase was the sig p226 and I am in love. My wife is somewhat interested in firearms which makes my new hobby so much more enjoyable. She is tiny and loves semi-autos so I have been eying the kahr pm9 and cw9. Because of her size it is hard for her to conceal, the size of the gun is important and we would have bought the LCP had 380 ammo not been so expensive and scarce as we both feel like she needs to put many rounds through the gun she is gonna carry. That being said, if anyone has one they would like to sell or let her put a few rounds through we would be much obliged. She shot a 38 snub nose today and didn't think too much of the revolver. Thanks!
