If backpacking, the Keltek P3AT goes along because it is nice and light. If car-camping, I bring my Springfield 9mm. Went camping this past summer in the back of my pickup. Got woke up by a bear eating nuts outside my truck. I have a campertop, so I was in no danger, but after watching him for about 45 minutes in my cramped quarters, it was nice to know I could put a warning shot nearby when I was ready to scare him off. Fortunately it was not needed.

If you are looking for an interesting place to hike, The Honey Creek trail in BSF is amazing. It's a little difficult, but worth every step. It's got an old cave that use to be inhabited by indians, a ladder bolted to a 60 foot cliff, you hike up a creek that forms a canyon that is maybe 30 feet wide in some places. Best hike in East TN!

HB1807/SB0576 going to committee 2/10
analog_kidd replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So is that first proposal officially off the table? I hadn't heard one way or the other. -
The Pres, in his State of the Union speech, recently said we are going to strengthen America by increasing our exports. That's his big solution to all of our problems. Only thing is, now China, one of the largest importers of the world, has said we are going to decrease our imports and produce domestically. We can't sell to someone who's not buying.

With press secretary Gibbs publicly stating as a fact that these guys are guilty and are going to be executed, he has effectively polluted the jury pool. These guys, guilty as they may be, could never get a fair civil trial, and their lawyers would use that to get them off. Eventually, the Pres will have to send them back to a military tribunal, which is how he'll save face from the idiotic suggestion of a civil trial.

When my wife took her class, I found out the class' exact method of their shooting test, size of target, number of shots at what distance, what constituted a counted shot. Then I made several targets just like they use, and we took them to the range and did the same drill they would use. We practiced until she was certain she could pass, which was pretty easy by the way. At the test, the requirement was any hole in an IDPA target counted. She got 100%.

The "Phil Show" talk radio program in Knoxville was talking about these shirts yesterday. Said he wore one into Walmart and had several young ladies flirting with him, which has never happended before. He could not believe the power of the shirt.

It would be funny to create your own annonymous email account and send emails about each boss saying you saw them with a hooker on company time. Then you could say how easy it is to send BS emails about anyone.

What level of NRA membership are you?

I'm a basic member. -
At least he's being honest about how he feels.

Had mine done nearly 20 years ago. Didn't get knocked out for the procedure, just a little shot of local anesthetic. The needle was probably the worst part of the whole thing. Funny thing is me and the dog got done the same week, and I think it was father's day weekend. Oh the irony.

Any reputable mechanics in the Clinton/OR area?
analog_kidd replied to chunkee's topic in General Chat
I was going to mention them too. They've always been fair with me. There's been a time or two that they couldn't fix something (transmission), but they're honest about it and didn't charge me for anything after looking at it, then they recommended a shop to fix it. -
What about people like me in a SHTF situation?
analog_kidd replied to Tobashadow's topic in Survival and Preparedness
You could get a month's supply, then "accidentally" lose the bottle. Ask your doc for another prescription to replace it. Then just rotate the extras into your monthy supply so they don't get old. I'd think one extra month of meds would get you past just about anything but total mayhem. -
I know most people on this forum wouldn't do it, but I gotta say it. When you do ask the merchant if you can dry fire the gun, please don't aim it am when you do it. I'm sure it's been checked a 100 times, but I think it's bad form.

Kent Williams wants to wait on our rights
analog_kidd replied to dunndw's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Given the choice between Jackson's "Beer Joint" proposed bill or waiting on the courts, I'd prefer waiting. That bill is horrible. My gut tells me the courts will rule in our favor, but then again, you never know. -
Militias, Gun Ownership and The Second Amendment

I knew that citizens used their own guns during the Rev. war. Didn't know they got paid to use them. Very cool article. -
For you all with the Comcast DVR, Google search Comcast Remote Hack, and reprogram your remote for the 30 second skip. Makes fastforwarding thru comercials way too easy.

I highly recommend visiting Cumberland Gap (State/National I can't remember) Park. It is in the place where TN, KY and VA all come to a point. You can even stand on the marker of all three states. The place is rich in history. Tells of how DB led the pioneers in to the frontier after blazing a trail through the Gap. Lots of places to visit and see. You can easily spend a day seeing all the sights, and for free. If you want to stay over, there is a excellent campground. Or in the town of Cumberland Gap, there is an awesome Bed and Breakfast that won't cost much more than a hotel and breakfast at a restaurant. I think it's called the Old Mill. It's also rich in history.

How about one of those dye-packs they use at the bank?

I still say that even IF man did cause global warming, with the population booming out of control, there would be no real way to stop it. We will be throwing good money at a problem that cannot be solved. We would be better served trying to figure out ways to adapt to the new climate. That is something we could live with forever. Stopping global warming will just be a perpetual money train.

Can't tell you how many purple things I own. I'm color blind and purple looks blue to me. I usually find out after wearing it about 5 times.

I'm sorry, but I got to call on this post. You're telling us it snowed on a regular basis during Holloween when you were a kid in knoxville? Late October these days is maybe in the 50's at night and 70's during the day. So, you think there has been a 20-30 degree shift in temperature since you were a kid? The global warming nuts are all in a tizzy over a 3 degree shift in temperature. You claim we got into the negatives on a regular basis? I look at the record lows on the weather each night, and I don't recall seeing them say that. In fact just this last night we blew away the recorded temperature for the day, and it was 15 degrees in Knoxville. Don't know how far back that goes, but I'm pretty sure it's at least the early 1900's.

Mounting a holster to the nightstand
analog_kidd replied to Sean's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I do something similar to what you are wanting to do. I use the Kydex holster that came with my XD and have it mounted in a hidden yet strategic location in our bedroom. I bought a leather holster for carrying, and never used the Kydex, so I figured it was a good use for it. Also, even though it's just me and the wife left in the house, we usually close and lock the bedroom door. I figure if the BG breaks in and I don't hear them, trying to get throught the locked bedroom door should wake me up. -
Actually, I think the new decade starts next year. If you go all the way back to the beginning of the calendar, the first year was "1", we didn't start at year "0". So, the first year of this decade was 2001, which means 2010 is the last year of the decade. Sorry, I just had to get that out there
